I took one look at a free copy in Joe Corals once, and I thought it was awful.
I couldn’t get on with the layout and text, so actually reading any of it was never an option for me.
The racing post isn’t much better now either.
Bring back the sporting life, that’s what I say.

I wanted to vote for John Wayne, why wasn’t he on the list?

Jim, I have no wish to get involved in an argument with you, because we have always got on very well, but you didn’t get any backing, because you started the thread on FF about Ian Davies.
Whatever Ian Davies posted about you, he didn’t post it on FF, he posted it on your own forum, which is why I decided it had nothing to do with us and tried to steer clear of it.
I know you didn’t agree with that, and I’m sorry you decided to leave, but I can’t go banning people for what they post on other forums.
It’s not the done thing.

Like everybody else I am absolutely stunned at this news. I met Craig a few years ago at John Cullinan’s yard and it doesn’t seem possible that this can have happened.

My sincere condolences to Deb and the family
They only caught that b@stard through pure luck, and it makes me wonder where he was taking the child. Would she ever have been seen again?

Lock him up and throw away the key.

My first employment was a paper round, then when I was 17 I got a job (cash in hand obviously) doing the board in my local bookies. The manager knew I was 17 but he didn’t seem to care too much.
When I left school me and my mate both got a job in a factory called Surgical equipment supplies. They had me operating a spot welding machine and my mate was doing something else somewhere. Anyway at about 11pm we had some sort of a break and when I met my mate we both realised the job wasn’t for us and we walked out there and then.
The first job I had that lasted a while was as a telegram boy, riding around West London on a Puch moped delivering telegrams.
30 years have past since then, and I’ve discovered lots more equally cr@p ways of earning a living.

Looks like I’m a Tory then.

As for the present government, I detest them.
Their sole purpose seems to be to find as many ways as possible to extract money from people.
They said they would not increase income tax but they increased national insurance contributions instead.
They couldn’t be bothered to process the long list of people claiming asylum and so they let everyone on the list stay. They want to prosecute parents for smacking their children, and they have invented a £100 fine for just about every minor offence under the sun.
They lied about student fees and they took this country into a war that wasn’t justified.
They are fleecing motorists by introducing ridiculous speed limits that a milk float would have trouble obeying and they encourage councils to rob drivers with extortionate parking fines.

I despise them, and I would sooner pull my teeth out with pliers than vote for the b*****d
    s.

Nobody is saying that Best Mate isn’t a very good horse, there just saying that Arkle was better.
It’s a bit like poining out that although our best 1500 metre runner at the moment is very good, Sebastian Coe was better.

Hasn’t Best mate already shown how good he is in a handicap? I seem to remember him getting turned over by Wahiba sands.
I can understand the people bored by the comparisons with Arkle, but as has already been pointed out, it was Terry Biddlecombe who stated that Best mate was better than Arkle.
Giving away the same amount of weight, Arkle would have paralysed Wahiba sands.
Best mate has won 3 Cheltenham gold cups, and so has Cottage rake, but that’s where the similarity with Arkle ends.
I read somewhere that Arkle’s course record at Sandown, set carrying 12st 7lbs, still stands today.
Having watched todays race I have to agree that Best Mate is the greatest racehorse of all time. It was an absolute joy to watch, almost as exciting as watching Fulham, the greatest football team of all time.
I’m not sure if it was as good as watching Cliff Lazarenko, (the greatest dart player of all time) but I would suggest it was as good as watching Tony Meo (the greatest snooker player of all time)

I would like to add my congratulations to all concerned.
Having been involved with the Amelia syndicate I understand how much time and effort has been put in by the syndicate organisers to make things run smoothly for the syndicate members.
It’s great to have a winner, but a 25/1 winner must be even better. I hope everyone had a great day.

An excellent thread, especially considering it was started before the horse ………ran?
I remember Nimello being forecast to go off at a short price at Hamilton on April 28th, but in the end the bookies couldn’t give the horse away and it started at 5/1. I was convinced the horse would run a stinker and it duly ran like an elephant.
Next time out I was surprised to see plenty of money for the horse on Betfair and it could have pulled a cart and still won.
It was obvious that the horse wasn’t going to pick its feet up yesterday and that’s exactly what happened.
This needs investigating.
