Obviously I live in Australia.
What’s your opinion?!!!!!!!!
I have little to no experience with European racing.
My limited knowledge is not a reasonable base to formulate a constructive opinion.
I’ve seen Septimus win the St Leger in a canter
All The Good show a tremendous turn of foot in the rerun of the Ebor
Honolulu win with some authorityBut that is the extent of my personal viewing.
So as you can see I need some advice on the other runners to compare.
I think All The Good would need every bit of his weight advantage against Septimus, however I see him at an advantage with the extra time in Oz to prepare.
the new rich will start working for a change instead of stealing money from us all.
The good old capitalist world has a way of putting us all back in our place when we get uppity. The cause of this situation Andyod.
It is this lot, the ruthless possession collector that has no feelings for his fellow man, that needs chastising.
Working for a change would imply a new found consience and that is unfortunately unlikely. It will be some time before deliberation will be sought before unloading funds from grandma’s purse in the name of sales. When the possession of respect and admiration can rise above the misconceived need for material ownership then the correction will be complete.
When a hard days work equals fair renumeration instead of a massive wage increase, several million shares and a bonus to boot.Oh wake up you buffoon, thats not the real world, just a fertile imagination.
Generally the last things people give up in hard times are alcohol and punting.
You may not buy a new laptop or flat screen TV, might eat topside instead of fillet, drive less on the weekend and wear your old t-shirt for one more year.
But when your feeling down and out or just want to enjoy the company of friends, a penny can be found to buy a beer.
When your sure you can multiply that penny, a risk will be made on the favourite.
So racing will always weather the storm as well as any other industry, infact better than most.
Free entry and cheap beer will give the hard-up a reason to let down thier hair.Samantha miss is from Milliyet a full sister to the Stakes winners Cronus 963K and Pravda 557K who both were at their best around 2000m. So the distance should not be a problem.
Samantha Miss has made a clean sweep of the filly’s classics in Sydney and her last win was awesome. The 47.5 kgs she will carry is a 9.5 kg advantage from the 4yo colts and 11kgs from the older horses in the Cox Plate. SM is bred in the purple she can win, but like Zarkava it has been since 1976 that the last 3yo filly, Surround won the Cox Plate. The last 3yo was Savabeel in 2004 and his sire Zabeel is the dam sire of Samantha miss. SM is by Redoute’s Choice, a son of Danehill and is currently the leading Sire in Australia.
He is in to 26th after second dec’s, so some extra’s have come out and he should make the M.Cup field.
He will run in the Caulfield Cup on the 18/10/08 with Kerrin McEvoy aboard.
This should top him off nicely for the M.Cup and the Double is at 900/1 on the TAB which I have delighted in taking.
Godolphin have been missing from the carnival the last couple of years, so this horse must have ticked the boxes as the right type for Oz.Looks a nice filly to me Tuffers.
All in good proportion and stands well.
looks a likely type, hope she has a ticker to match.
By Night shift
Even though deportivo was a speedster your filly has strong stamina through Fury Dance, and she has a sex balanced cross to Nijinsky II.
I would think she has an excellent chance of getting some ground and if she has a touch of speed from Deportivo could well be a good sort.Good luck
PeterDeportivo by Night Shift I would presume or by Dancing Flight?
Lee is one of the best in the business, you can be sure he will get as much out of your horse as any Oz trainer. Will look out for Elopement and watch with interest for Feet Of Fury (great name) on her debut.
What is her name Tuffers?
Who is her sire?
Has she had any trials?
Excuse my ignorance but not familiar with UK practices.
Exciting time for you, I get very nervous with the first few starts myself.Cheers
PeterMCDONALD CONFIDENT AFTER TEAM MEETING
Trainer Ross McDonald has revealed he met with jockey Brad Rawiller on Monday after the shock defeat of champion galloper Weekend Hussler in last Saturday’s Patinack Turnbull Stakes (2000m) at Flemington.“We were just beaten by a bad gate and pilot error. We had Brad down on Monday, we played some race tapes. It’s all positive. We know we’ve got the best horse, we just have to get the best ride,” McDonald said.
McDonald confirmed it’s all systems go for the Hussler to tackle the BMW Caulfield Cup (2400m) and Tatts Cox Plate (2040m) despite his Turnbull eighth.
“At the moment nothing’s changed. We’ll run in the Caulfield Cup then go to the Cox Plate, then we’ll look at Flemington,” McDonald said.
“We’ve trained him to run in the Caulfield Cup, his work this morning we couldn’t have been happier with. He pulled up well, his coat is glistening after Saturday and the vets have checked him out.”
McDonald also had a warning for those daring to question whether Australia’s reigning horse of the year was capable of achieving his major spring goals.
“Everyone’s dropped of him, but that’s fine – we might get better odds. You don’t get the chance to win a Cox Plate very often. He’s been favourite all along. I’m confident,” McDonald said.
Tuffers, Air under her was your subject question.
I would tend to ignore any negative feedback. Most owners in my experience have the money to waste and just do it for fun. Most have a share offered to them by friends, associates or trainers they trust in. No need to be an expert if you have one to seek advise from.
Some like me don’t have the money to waste but do it for the love of the sport, you only live once so enjoy life while you can.
We do our home work to the best of our ability and need plenty of luck.
There will allways be people that take advantage of others in all walks of life but that is human nature and not restricted to racing.Cheers
short coupled and a bit raw but still growing no doubt
My best performing horse was short coupled but developed some length over time. I was told by an experienced horse breeder to get rid of him when he was young! He has just turned five SHT (august) and now won 100k.
Turned in can cause problems, but my favorite horse "Northerly" winner of two Cox Plates and $ 9+ million was turned in badly.
The most expensive horse I ever owned a share in was a magnificent looking thoroughbred and correct in every way. He was not fast enough on the track!!!
You cannot buy the fight in a horse, that belongs to the individual, and that is why I love racing.
My tip – go for a big rear end, that has no doubt been the best guide for me.
Cheers and good luck.
PS your horse looks well bodied from the picture.
Large nostril very good, short coupled and a bit raw but still growing no doubt. This may give the appearance of "air under her". From the photo looks turned in off side front bit of a concern.
Good luck, no feeling like watching your horse win, hope you experience it.
He may need to win a lead up race to qualify as he is currently 35th in order of entry.
I have him in to 29th with the removal of others above him but with 24 to start he needs more out and others can recieve exemption from the ballot in some lead up races.
He has 53 kgs or 5.5kg pull in the weights from Septimus.
Profound Beauty is one place behind him at 36th so they will both be looking to perform in a lead up race to cement their place. 0.5kg or more penalty should get them in.
The 33/1 proverbly reflects his position as he is as much as 40/1 here in Australia.- AuthorPosts
