Hilarious. Absolutely hilarious. Then to play the "I’m 70 years old" card – priceless. The age doesn’t stop the mouth though, does it?!?
September 27, 2010 at 20:05 in reply to: Kempton 4.20 – Turf TV Send Wrong Price on Winning Fav #319753Ok Dennis, you win this one. You’re not worth it and I shouldn’t have given you the satisfaction of engaging with you. I certainly shan’t in the future.

Ginger, I use the term ‘standard place terms’ as 1/4 1,2,3,4 was indeed the standard place terms and the one which was applied to off-course markets. I’m glad that you said you didn’t check the rails, as your initial statement was well off. Of the 21 books on the rails, I’d say three quarters were betting 1/4, 1,2,3,4. In the ring I’m pretty sure there were more than one, I’d expect at least a few more than one of the 33 books to bet to terms as well.
On a related topic.
Thanks to West End Racing at Newbury today.
The only bookie I saw offering 1/4 the odds first four in the Spring Cup.
You didn’t look very hard then Ginger – 1/4, 1-2-3-4 was the standard ew terms on the race and I could name you a good dozen bookmakers standing at Newbury today who were offering as much.
Toe grabs are not allowed to be used in UK racing.
I can assure you Barry that I am no ‘guesser’ then again you appear to call everyone that who disagrees with you!
As for the paddock comment, you don’t have a very good memory do you. Either that or yourself and Patrick haven’t been communicating what you’ve been posting! A few weeks ago you claimed that [and I quote] “my prices fluctuate dramatically after paddock inspection..

If anyone is guessing, it is you in your self appointed role of spokesman for the bookmakers. Personally I find it hilarious that you profess to be an expert on exactly what is happening at these Kempton evening meetings yet you yourself haven’t been sighted standing at such meetings in a long, long time!
Thank God for sensible, rational people who have an understanding of not only how the SP system works, but how the on-course and off-course markets operate and differ so much. You could all do a lot worse than to listen to Sean Boyce who has come out with the most intelligent comments so far on this thread.
As for Barry (or was is Patrick?!) Dennis, he won’t be any more expansive as he is wholly incapable of it, seeing that his own understanding of how the SP system works is incorrect anyway. Best stick to inspecting the horses in the paddock Bazza before you price up – or are you too busy holding court in your deckchair in the middle of the ring?!?
I’ve too many equine commitments as it is I’m afraid but best of luck with her and I hope you fill the shares available. The fees look very reasonable compared to a lot of frankly obscene charges being quoted for a lot of other syndicates/racing clubs out there.
There is a lot wrong with Haydock’s jumps track as it is now (in my opinion) and I wouldn’t run anything there of mine that wasn’t a nimble, speedy type so able to handle the course. Since they’ve decimated the jumps track by adding the sprint track it’s tighter than a dog track!
I’m sure plenty of members of the forum could have ‘told’ Cormack which horses to buy at the sales. Surely he should be given enough credit to choose something for his own racing club rather than be told what to buy by random [occasional] forum posters?
Like seemingly everything else to do with Kempton, it seems pretty random. It was in place for most meetings initially but now it appears that they seem to make their mind up on the day whether to do it or not! It does seem now to be that some days it applies, some it doesn’t.
Ven – this new Bistro menu they’re marketing as a bargain, would you believe?! Oh, but it does include admission (should be free or a fiver IMO) and a racecard (sold for c.£1.20 [the price varies, believe it or not!] worth 50p) and a two course meal. Bargain Basement Bonus!
The bookmakers cannot possibly be blamed for not turning up so far as I can see.
I’ve been saying to anyone will listen, for a long time now, that if Kempton want punters they ought to offer free admission or admission for a fiver,
all the time.
Nevermind their poorly advertised "entrance for a fiver" month which only applies if you purchase badges online in advance, this should be the case all the time. They should also scrap the newly introduced £5/car parking fee. Another thing they should do is to actually open the stand to the public; several meetings this month all that has been open (other than the empty and over-priced restaurant, even since introducing their "bargain" Bistro menu starting at
only
£37/head) has been one bar on the first floor, along with the BaldyFred shop on that floor and one small window selling hog roasts, pies and muffins. It is embarrassing to hear Kemp proudly declare – loudly – over the tannoy, that "don’t forget the food court is open"; well, the fish and chip place is open, possibly the noodle place too if you’re really lucky, sometimes vice-versa. No catering vans have been sighted in around a month now either. If you want to buy something edible you have to go to the garage next door!
Yes, I realise that and it was more a general point, but it did also apply in some way here. I’m not saying that they could have kept the percentage at the level of the opening show since, as you say, the false price of the favourite contributed largely to the dramatic increase in percentage. Seemingly nothing was being pushed out in price however at the same time as the jolly was being slashed and it’s been happening quite a lot lately.
I don’t like AW racing; is that ok with you lot?! I must remember to follow tongue-in-cheek comments with one of these
in future so that people can cotton on!- AuthorPosts
