The Kempton tramps have reached a new low.
Not enough bookies to send a show but enough to send an SP. So basically, they tell you what you’re gonna get after the result is known. Still, the prices were reasonably competitive……on the losers.
Seven percentage points were added to the Betfair SP on the winner of the first, they seemed to bet to 2% a runner on the losers.
November 22, 2009 at 08:18 #259923"Come Racing get the value"
Kazbow returned 4/6 at Kempton, 7/4 freely available on Betfair at the off.
Acrosstheuniverse shamefully reduced from 16/1 to 10/1 at Lingfield when it was clear he wasn’t going to run after bursting out of the stalls.
The "thieves" should be thrown off the track.
Meanwhile the BHA who are supposed to be running our sport just stand around and do nothing.
November 22, 2009 at 11:07 #259949Thing is if we just ignore Kempton , dont watch /bet ./ or take any interest in it , then soon someone will have to ask why are we running it ??
cheers
Ricky

Sean Boyce highlighted it at the time on ATR and it’s not the first time is it?

As usual, Barry, it is difficult to tell what point you are trying to make.
I have just established the following time line from the ATR coverage:
12:50.23 ACTU 16/1
12:51.43 ACTU breaks out of her stall
12:51.51 ACTU 16/1
12:51.53 ACTU 14/1
12:52.37 ACTU 12/1 with filly reluctant to return to start
12:53.07 ACTU announced withdrawn and betting suspended
12:53.44 race starts, ACTU 10/1 at time of withdrawalAt the rate of freefall in Acrosstheuniverse’s price it can only be imagined that if she had delayed the start a fraction longer she would have gone off at 9/1 and prompted a 10p rather than a 5p deduction.
November 22, 2009 at 18:24 #260036Disgraceful.
Come on Barry, tell us a story
November 22, 2009 at 19:11 #260042the signal transmitting shows failed several times during afternoon,
I backed the horse at 18/1 16/1 14/1 in the ring for hedging purposes at least 1 minute before it broke out the stalls,
my board showed 12/1 which was top price when it broke through stalls, whether 10 12 or 14 all carry 5p
November 22, 2009 at 19:45 #260047If the move on the horse was delayed because of a transmitter failure Barry I’ll gladly highlight that on ATR tomorrow, should be easy enough to check out.
November 22, 2009 at 20:12 #260052Could you explain what you meant by this remark, Barry?
eddie case, 16/1 into 10/1 , your wrong, who cares, guesser.
That the horse went from 16/1 to 10/1 seems not to be in dispute. That the shows were "delayed" is in dispute, and is not the kind of information that eddie case, I or the vast majority of other people are likely to be privy to. It would hardly make him a "guesser".
I hope Sean can post back on here with the true circumstances of the matter.

The bookmakers have to put the food on the table like the rest of us and if this is their way of making a living then fair play.
We all know we can get better odds on Betfair so whats the problem?
November 22, 2009 at 20:46 #260058If there were technical problems that caused that delay that will be verifiable. I’ll check it out and if my initial reaction was wrong I’ll be very happy to correct it.

You forgot to mention they love their mums too, Mr Wilson.
I don’t think you get it.
November 23, 2009 at 17:41 #260175Is there any update on this?
I think this is newsworthy whichever version proves to be true – that shows are sometimes being delayed significantly without the public and most professionals (such as Sean) knowing about it, or that other professionals seem to be trying to explain away an unsatisfactory chain of events with non-truths – and I would be interested in publicising this more widely either way.
November 23, 2009 at 18:58 #260186nothing sinister, you’ll need to get your hands dirty and come racing several times, see the many reasons the system can break down.
November 23, 2009 at 21:17 #260205I go racing pretty often, thanks, though not in search of "value" or for the quality of some of the characters I am in danger of bumping into there, obviously.
If course shows are regularly being delayed as much as you claim they were in this instance, it is highly likely that some shark is cleaning up big time, rather than just nicking a fraction here and there.
People should be told, and a more robust system for conveying prices should be in place.
I would still like to know what Sean’s investigation turned up. Sean?
November 23, 2009 at 22:23 #260211some really low life dangerous characters on-course.
how about bringing your mum to protect you.
