    Alright chaps,

Hahaha that would certainly help Cav, and I feel there might’ve been more than one occasion reading between the lines.

Which other pro punters do you think are overrated? I feel as thought there are a lot of talented individuals out there mate but I feel bankroll is very important; what’s the point in having ability if you don’t have a few grand behind you? Everyone has brutal runs and gets pipped by the proverbial.

SO you think he hasn’t been successful or he’s ran out of money and whacked the book out to make a buck? And what do you mean by pure filth? Brutal picks?

    Cheers,

    Sassoon

I also know one of Veitch’s “putter-onners”. Much of it is pure filth with an inbuilt edge – bad each-way in particular. Again, why mess around with that sort of stuff if you’re supposedly crushing the bookmakers straight? It doesn’t add up and I suspect he has hoodwinked many.

    Alright botchy,

Hahaha that’s quality, sick as a pick looool. Can I ask what made you follow it so many times?

What about your finest punting moments? Doubles up, trebles up, placepot, jackpot etc??

    Cheers,

    Sass

    Alright chaps and well done!!

Agree regarding Woods like, really looks to be sorting himself out now! That was a tough gig out there similar to last week as well!! Alex Noren seems to riding his peak still; always wonder how well a player will do on the PGA when they’re doing unbelievably well on the European but he’s smashing it. Wouldn’t be suprised if he got into contention for one of the majors as well tbf!

What other bets have you lads got on this week and who do youz fancy for the golf this week?

    Cheers,

    Sassoon

    Cheers Seabird, appreciated.

Do you find it strongest in certain areas? Like studying trainers, individual course stats etc…?

    Hiya Colin,

Cheers for that, it’s always struck me as a really good site but I guess I see that as expensive for what you get without fully knowing what you get. Do you use any others? or anyone else here pay for subscriptions?

    Cheers

    Alright chaps,

How are the selections getting on? Early days yet! The wind is up round there and been plenty of bogeys and doubles!!

For the record I had medium bets on Kisner, Bello, Berger and Walker. Small bets of a couple of pounds for interest on Fowler, Bozzelli, Harman.

    Alright chaps,

Cheers seabird, the A Massey site is definitely useful. Out of interest does anyone else have sites that they like to use which are good for stats and the like and not necessarily in your face?

    Cheers,

    Sass

    Alright ginge,

Hope you’re well pal, what are the factors which Timeform flag up that you enjoy the most? They do a lot of good stuff but things like the sectionals they have I can do myself and probably have more time to produce.

Some official times can be out, it happens but I think it’s rare? Aren’t they times electronically upon the horses leaving the stalls and then each horse recorded once they’ve crossed the finish line? Movement of rails is b.s but the BHA website seems to do a good job of stating these.

The tailwind helps the front runners as it creates a stream of air for them to run with?

Good knowledge on the draw there!! If we’re talking about other things to consider when looking at draw what would you include?

    Cheers,

    Sass

Great shout on Welbeck Nath, how they were giving that price is unbeknownst to me! Unreal tekkers on picking up 20! Agreed that he possibly won’t go, if Hodgson was picking it he would hahaha. The door is open for him like you say so hopefully he starts lashing a few in mate.

Do you think there are any other players on the fringes that might sneak in or will GS play it safe?

    Alright chaps,

Nice reasoning behind those Big G! How are everyones plays getting on so far? The course is long and must be playing pretty tough as there are no stupid scores around. I know the average winning score here has been about -15 or-16 to be fair!

I took Chez Reavie and Kevin Chappell who both did well in the first round but also got a few a couple of shots off the pace like Casey and Pieters.

Also, anyone got early shouts for The Masters? We’re not far away and Spieth is bang out of form at the minute.

    Alright chaps,

Great posts. Yeah definitely watching races is very important and looking at the type of trip a horse got throughout a race and where you think it should be exerted and where it shouldn’t. Do you find yourself getting a feel for certain horses at certain tracks and vice versa and it all somehow seems to come into place a lot of the time?

Ginge, why do you enjoy Timeform so much? I would agree that they’re excellent at what they do and take into account a lot of different factors but I aim to be just as creative. Overall I feel that occasionally ‘official’ times are out (have you experienced this or do you know them to be bang on every time due to electronic timing?), the effect of wind is underestimated, not enough attention is paid to the draw on good/firm ground and the effect of weight figures too much; this can apply to their ratings and some ratings others produce. Ginge, if you could address some of those points so I know your thoughts then that’d be great!

    Thanks a lot, Sassoon

    Ben,

I’ll find it for you over the weekend mate. You don’t have to go too far back in the forum to find it as I recall. You backed anything this weekend and anymore thoughts on the above?

    All the best,

    Sass

With regards to pace I’ve been looking at getting rough times through different stages of different races and then giving them a rough comparison so I know which courses require more getting over 7 furlongs or which have slight downhill finishes etc. If anyone has a list of courses and observations they’ve made regarding pace, or draw or even just the layout of the tracks then that’d be great to share?

Like ginge said good horses can run bad times if conditions aren’t right and I’m looking to reduce variables a bit. For instance I might take the 4f times at Leicester and Nottingham and see what correlation they have so consequently when their trainers send them over to the other track you then have a rough idea of how they’ll perform. This alongside rough par times for the race and roughly where the horses are gunna be at different junctures of the race is definitely useful information; very American in it’s thinking and it’s individual in how you take and interpret the times but at this stage of my journey I’m thinking that pace is more important than 99 percent of other factors and there’s money to be made there.

Realise I’ve waffled on a bit but think you’ll get my point and all views would be welcome please?

    Cheers ladies and gents,

    Sassoon

    Ben,

And for your going do you pay attention to the going stick mainly or do you have other methods? And do you assign notes for the pace of a race like ginge as in fast then slow, slow fast, average slow etc? With experience I guess this comes naturally and it becomes more of an art.

Also, what methods do you use to find out who you think is ‘trying’?

    Regards,

    SAS

    Alright Nathan,

I feel Ding and Trump should be competing really mate with the talent!! How do you rate the chances of Higgins or Williams after their resurgences over the last year? One man I’ll definitely be having a bash on who’s been there and done it is Shaun Murphy at 28/1!!! 16 and 20 in other places. Also could be worth keeping an eye on the likes of your Carter’s and Walden’s as well to see if they can get their best snooker back pre tourney?
