Just disgraceful to have the horse hidden behind the screens in its dying seconds while the rest just keeps on running on unsuitable ground.
Don’t call it sport or don’t tell me that these animals are loved or that people really care for them. If this would be the case then there would be no NH during the extremely dry summer period.
Why not race them over concrete?Sorry Blackgold, but I have started a thread without confirmation. Let’s face it: Ponmeword was fighting for his life and must had broken some bones in his back. Pat Garrett fell on his neck and might have also injured his shoulder. Afterwards he wasn’t even moving. So I guess he was killed instantly. Both falls were impossible to survive.
What happened to the horse? I know it was put down, but did he leave back injured with no one to comfort it?
What kind of a pathetic person would he be if his main concern would just be riding in the next race?
Let’s hope I#m wrong an he stayed with the horse until it was put down. I mean it wasn’t the horse’s fault that it was killed. That’s the difference between a plain fence and an open ditch. A typical broken hind leg while not jumping the ditch properly. Now that horse must have been in some pain. Just imagine some tearing your legs apart while you are running. As a human I would cream myself to death.
Poor horses and all the words we find for them is RIP and so sad.
I think we are a bit SAD ourselves. What a race horse! I was just about in my teens when he won in Germany at the age of six and then went on to win four times the Prix D’Amerique. Nice to hear that he went on to reach the age of 33 years.
Rest In Peace Ourasicjt62: I didn’t want to offend you, but it really looked horrible.
It was one of those falls that you don’t want to watch a second time.cjt62: If you saw the fall, then don’t even dare to ask.
That neck is a broken as it can possibly be.
Rest In Peace GouganeNice that he had such a long and happy retirement. Of course no one can forget his heroics round Cheltenham and Aintree. At that time ridden by Brendan Powell SENIOR !!! LOL
At least he reached the age of 26 and had a good time among us.Rest in Peace Dublin Flyer
Very nice words robnorth!
Poor horse, so sad when they suffer a heart attack. Especially when it happens in front of the stands.
RIP CassiusVery sad news.
RIP Cavers GlenAnd WHY????
How can one seriously believe that even ine of them had more than one in a million chance to survive that kind of fall?
I thought they would close this KILLER track down. DISGUSTINGBlackGold: Sorry for posting about the same horse. Didn’t see your thread, mate.
Tempo Du Camp clearly had no chance of surviving today. Though he needed TWO tries to break his shoulder. Blundered the first and landed on the top of the 2nd flight where he had no chance, but to break his shoulder. To make things worse he started limping for another few furlongs until he was caught. This kind of injury is with the normal flight of hurdles rather impossible. Another stupid loss of equine life.
Great update and excellent news. Hope he has a nice and long retirement.
Broke almost every vital bone in his body by the looks of it.
What is this horse doing over fences?
It was bred to be a 8-10f horse on the Flat, never jumped a fence in public and was clearly out of his depth in this race. What are some trainers thinking? Especially the ones with a strike rate of around 5 percent. Why not shoot the horse before the race?
This really was a disgrace and nothing to be proud of if you consider yourself a member of the NH community.
Poor Dubai CrestDON’T CARE A S..T ABOUT TRAINER AND ITS CONNECTIONS !!!!!
