    Hope I’m being unduly pessimistic here, but Gougane appeared to break his neck in a nasty last hurdle fall in the 12.50 at Huntingdon. Please tell me I’m plain wrong.

    cjt62: If you saw the fall, then don’t even dare to ask.
    That neck is a broken as it can possibly be.

    It was one of those falls that you don’t want to watch a second time.

    Sad news. RP has him down as falling heavily, but not fatal. RIP, Gougane.

    I was at Huntingdon and it was a horrible fall. It is small consolation but I was told afterwards he died instantly so would not have known anything about it.
