Yes it definatately looks like Aintree need to examine their hurdles course.

I am interested to hear people arguments to why horse racing is NOT cruel.

I don’t think it is cruel, i love horses and horse racing and i think the fantatical groups like Animal Aid consider only what they believe to be correct without actually considering the animal.

On to something misleading – horses on drugs can often be thought as one’s that enjoy racing. They are forced into it by drugs and i strongly believe that drugs should not be used in racing.

If a sick horse needs drugs to get better – of course that’s fine but if that sick horse gets better and continues to race on ANY drug – not fine.

I don’t like lasix, i don’t like bute and i don’t like EPO. Race horses should not be turned into machine’s by drugs and i feel drugs are the things that should be banned – not the Grand National.

ONE THING I AGREE WITH – a better entry system to ensure that the horses who are thought to be capable of racing on the National Course run and the one’s that aren’t thought capable, not allowed to run.

I hope someone took notice of what Katy said regarding the Velka Pardubica. If these animal rights groups want to get rid of a horse race – why don’t they take a look at that one.

Back to a horse JUMPING a fence – WHAT WOULD A HORSE DO IN THE WILD IF IT CAME TO SOMETHING IT HAD TO JUMP OVER? STOP AND TURN AROUND?? no i don’t think so – IT WOULD JUMP! Horses run, horses jump – it isn’t un-natural for them.

DO THESE ANIMAL RIGHTS GROUPS ACTUALLY GIVE A MONKEYS REGARDING WHAT THE ANIMAL’S THINK!!!!! Most horses ENJOY racing. And Sidders said it right – IF IT DON’T WANT TO JUMP IT WON’T! How many times have you seen a "R" on a horses form? It didn’t want to jump so it didn’t bother – that’s fine with me.

One thing i DO object to is making horses that regularly refuse to race continue to race. They are taken to the track only to refuse again or be hesitent as a fence and fall. There are many horses that enjoy racing, there are some that don’t. THe one’s that don’t, shouldn’t race – the one’s that do? leave them alone and let them do what they enjoy doing.

Very good read. Lost £15k in one year…these words come to mind – oh…my…god – you sound like you’ve got things sorted now though Alan.

Well done and thank you for some very good answers – even if you did duck the question about the jockeys…and i also haven’t met anyone that rates Richard Hills, or in fact Michael either…although that may or may not reflect my opinion… Rob.

You two keep on going…from you’ve both said it’s going to pay off.

I will be following your progress and I think the effort you put in is top notch.

As we know, losing runs happen in racing, but you know you’re going to get by this one with no problems!

Any for today guys? Rob :)

Thanks again Mr Segal, another superb question and answer thread. I didn’t realise that one man had to price up 100 horses. That’s mad, is there no way the Racing Post would employ a specialist tissue making firm to do the forecasts? Surely that would be much more sensible than trying to kill their workers by overworking them. Rob.
