Tanya Stevenson is never drunk or hungover… she’s trying to do ‘come to bed eyes’ Keeping the seat warm until Emma Spencer gets back from Dubai.

    Allegedly.

    Isiris Unveiled

Best ever racing book, though the bookmakers (I believe) got it banned from being published in the UK and I think they had to get it printed in east asia, it was only sold to members I think and I doubt you would get a copy of it now. Though if you do manage it then the book is gold dust.

Has anyone actually read this particular book?

I would be interested to get hold of a copy, anybody know if it is availablle anywhere??

    Billion/Formath,

Very interesting thread guys, and you are both doing well interms of selections – and good results.

Tell me, how are the selections arrived at? Is it the standard VDW procedure (if there is one)! If so, is there any where on the forum that details the VDW selection process in full?

Thanks and well done on a great thread.

    Hi Formath,

I have read alot of your posts and found them highly interesting and very informative. I have one question and really hope you dont mind me asking.

In one of your posts you quote ‘My odds tissue is arrived at after compiling a form rating by filtering each runner through 8 factors that have historically proved critical in selecting winners.’

Im keen to learn a lot more regarding creating tissue, and compiling form ratings. I was hoping you could explain to me what the 8 factors are that you consider and how the form rating is calculated and transformed into a tissue.

Im really trying to learn as much as I can in these areas and would be extremely grateful if you could explain these to me.

    Kind regards,

    Ian.

Ive just been playing around with the idea of using ratings and converting them into tissues etc….

Today, using just ratings from a national paper and doing the conversions into prices, then backing those horses with +EV has shown 2 16/1 winners, 12/1 winner and a couple more at shorter prices! Obviously I havent been backing these with cash, more just playing around with the idea!

I understand you cant really just back these horses blindly but never the less, if you can find some ratings to trust, it can be a valuable tool to add to the arsenal.

Tb, do you use ratings in this manner, if so do you use any paricular ratings?

    tbracing,

Thank you for your post… one question regarding the way you would convert ratings in to a percentage?

If horse A was give a rating of 70, how would that be converted in to a percentage?

I know in gingertipsters post he stated that he takes alot into consideration, ie trainer form, going, distance, temprement etc.. and then rates the horse as to what sort of chance he thinks it may have with a percentage figure.

If you use ratings how would you calculate a percentage?

    Gingertipster,

Thank you again for another highly informative post, much appreciated..

I understand that all we have discussed is not enough, on its own to show an overall profit and it is completely down to how the individual evaluates what he reads in the form book, and what he sees with his own eyes when watching racing that really counts.

The areas we have touched upon are just subjects that I dont have much experience with, and the information you have kindly provided will be a great help to me. Thank you!

Are there any other important areas you would encourage a novice punter to focus on, to enable him on his quest to show a profit from this game?

    Thank you Gingertipster!

An extremely detailed reply. Thank you for taking the time to explain how you go about making your own tissue.

There is alot of information to be absorbed in that post, and I will enjoy working my way through it, puting it in to practice.

At the start of the post you asked if I was familiar with odds as percentages and percentages as odds. Now this is something I have touched on but am not absolutely certain on. If you get a minute, would you mind explaining to me how to calculate these? and any other info I may need?

Thank you again, your time is MUCH appreciated.
