I haven’t seen the TV coverage but you’d have to think that CB would have been hard pressed to do anything BUT focus on the Queen’s runner, both before and after the race, as that was the public ‘story’ surely.

The most perplexing post race comment came from John Magnier who said he wished someone else had owned Carlton House.

Probably meant he wished he owned it himself!

At the presentation the first horse she mentioned was Carlton House, not the winner! Treasure Beach the runner up never even got a mention. Any other ‘big’ race the third horse probably wouldn’t even have been mentioned.

No Magnier tried to sound suitable contrite that he had beaten the Queen’s horse. If Joe Bloggs had owned it he wouldn’t have given a fig!

Far, far too much concentration on Carlton House, to the detriment of other fancied runners. We saw the VT of him getting out of the horse box at least three times!

It was a cracking race & Dandino after looking beaten, showed his tenacity by fighting back & getting the nod literally on the line. He works lazily at home compared to Indian Days so does need some rousting.
All praise to Native Ruler too after 631 days off the course, how game was he, giving Dandino 1lb.
A great run back in third from Indian Days too with his 3lb penalty. A good day all round for teams Given & Cecil.

At 20.58 Joncol said ‘this time I’m gone’ Didn’t happen did it?

This Forum has had many peaks & troughs over the years & this is a very deep trough.

If we don’t bother to comment he’ll soon get fed up of his own company.

I only buy the RP on a Saturday so have not seen any news of either who is going to train Pearce’s horses in the same location or who they are moving to, does anyone know please?

Kauto has raced only 36 times since 2003 & imo has been well looked after during that period.
Ironically he will still be 10 years old on Gold Cup day as his ‘real’ 11th Birthday is the following day!

Doesn’t anyone remember the talented but enigmatic Clever Folly. He won his 25th race at the age of 15, a brilliant servant for the late Gordon Richards.
I saw him win many times, he was what you might call characterful, a smashing horse.

I really can’t say how many times I voted, but roughly ten times more than my other half thinks I did!
Really, really pleased for him & imo a humble man.
Amazed when Ruby Walsh said AP had travelled over 28,000 miles in races. A great night for the sport we love.

He does sometimes school at Bangor after racing.
Peddlers Cross & Tarablaze both schooled there a few weeks ago.

But the majority of his blurb is an advertisement. Great to be with RF etc. I write for SL & the Mirror. I rode famous horses, now here’s the info about my tipping line.

I wonder if there is some confusion with Ebazyian who did pass away earlier in the year.
Also grey & by the same sire.

Call me a cynic, but if he already writes columns for the Mirror & SL, why post a virtually identical column on here & then advertise his tipping service.
He isn’t going to join in debates etc so what is the point only to try & attract more subscriber’s to his service.
He’d do exactly the same for any other racing forum. It’s free advertising.

Neither can I & of course they still have to have consultations with the relevant tracks. what if some say no?

I can’t see it influencing overseas betting one way or the other although the BHA could have data to prove otherwise in which case where is the market research which drove them to this conclusion. Honestly imo this is tinkering for tinkering’s sake. They said the idea was simple, well they got that right!

Incidentally Ireland have no plans to change, so if overseas punters bet on English & Irish racing how much confusion is that going to cause? More likely to turn them off I reckon.

If they always went for countries like England with infrastructure in place etc etc no other parts of the world would stand a chance.
Personally I prefer to see the World Cup being played in ‘new’ places & I’m really pleased for Qatar in 2022.
I’m sure Russia will do just fine.

I didn’t realise he wasn’t attached to NH. From the tone of the article I assumed he was. That makes it even worse imo. A week after the event, the lad has nothing to do with his stable, he deliberately doesn’t mention the name of the ex jockey who did the same thing so as not embarrass him, but he doesn’t mind embarrassing the young lad, who believe me was ashen after it had happened.

Another quote from the NH article "I confess I haven’t seen the incident when he dropped his hands on a sure fire winner only to be caught close home"

Short of column inches I reckon & to be honest his column isn’t a patch on Paul Nicholl’s, a poor replacement.

I didn’t see the owner/trainer interview on RUK but it seems that he was sympathetic to the lad & pointed out the horses ‘habit’. It also seems he was not best pleased at the way he was being pilloried by certain sections of the media.

I don’t know if anyone gets the Weekender but in Nicky Henderson’s column today there was a mini headline about Chris Timmons who I guess works for NH "No excuse for young Timmons clanger at Bangor" He also said "He was very lucky he wasn’t on one of mine I can promise you that" "I did have one who was almost caught at Exeter & I was less than impressed but the pilot no longer rides so I won’t embarrass him here"
He won’t embarrass a chap who doesn’t ride anymore but he will embarrass a lad who’s just starting out on his career!
I thought that was pretty bad form. A private rollicking most certainly, as I’ve said before I saw the state of the lad at first hand & it made racing headlines the next day, but surely a week later it should not have been brought up again, that’s my opinion anyway.
