A recent comment reflected poorly on the absence of winning Galileo fillies.Since Saturday May7th the following have won Ravissante, Dearest Girl,Moybe and Claidmh Solais. Not bad for a sire who don’t get winning fillies.
September 25, 2010 at 22:06 #16309Teofilo champion 2yo 2006
New Approach champion 2007
Rip van Winkle 2008
Cape Blanco (unbeaten)2009,
Frankel champion 2010.
What’s next year to bring?
Is he some stud or what?September 26, 2010 at 01:38 #319406I’d keep a closer eye on Cape Cross or Montjeu personally. Sea The Stars is from the first crop of Cape Cross that hit after the 3yo success of Ouija Board – Behkabad’s from the second.
September 26, 2010 at 03:30 #319409I just can’t warm to Montjeus they are so irratic, head cocked, tail swishing etc but also sometimes brilliant.Cape Cross I will keep an eye on.
September 26, 2010 at 04:06 #319410If you’re dreaming of breeding a 3yo crack miler with a turn of foot with a view to making a few quid as a stallion once its racked up a few G1s, I’d make a few calls elswhere first.
September 26, 2010 at 04:36 #319411Yeah like first call my psychiatrist.
September 26, 2010 at 10:56 #319441Once Saamid proves himself better than Frankel the attention in these parts will turn to Street Cry.

Sired a 6f G1 winner on an AW surface, Kentucky Derby winner, Breeders Cup Classic winner, Melbourne Cup winner. Can get anything just about.
September 26, 2010 at 12:45 #319472Does Street Cry stamp his stock or is the dam responsible for his success just like Urban Sea got great suff regardless of the sire.Bye the way I agree he looks like becoming a wonderful sire as you say.

I can actually see the point your making there.
One thing does stand out in a rather strange way imo – the best he has sired are huge closers. Street Sense, Street Boss, Whobegotyou, Shocking and Zenyatta.
September 26, 2010 at 13:15 #319485I’d rather back a Galileo bred horse than a Montjeu, regardless how much Ballydoyle push all Montjeu horses: RE – Fame and Glory being preferred over Rip Van Winkle last year, and same again this year with St Nicholas Abbey and Jan Vermeer over Midas Touch and Cape Blanco.
DESPERATE.
September 26, 2010 at 13:55 #319491JJM the preference you refer to may be just in your head.I believe that Murtagh always sided with RVW over F&G.Also in a way I too believed that the Monyjues were better last year but something went wrong over the winter.I am Galileo fan incidentally but I thought that Cape Blanco was a bit of a grinder last year. This year he is very very good.He had won his race in the KG with Workforce before Harbinger came to challenge and he had little left to fight him off. When two front runners go head to head that is what often happens.
September 26, 2010 at 14:24 #319493I do think Murtagh preferred Rip Van Winkle, over Fame and Glory, but I think the stable think otherwise, maybe willingness however?

May 12, 2011 at 08:43 #355048In addition Igugu became the first filly to win the South African Triple Tiara at the weekend when she won the South African Oaks for Mike de Kock.
Home bred by Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa al Maktoum she is by Galileo out of Zarinia and closely related to Zarkava.
May 12, 2011 at 10:36 #355060Thanks Adrian for your addition to the list of Galileo fillies to win this year.Zarkava,I guess I was too lazy to check up where I read that reference to Galileo.
May 12, 2011 at 23:05 #355176Swing Bowler an impressive winner of the Bumper at Wincanton.
