Absolutely brilliant result.
I am so, so pleased for him.
I know he has his knockers and a lot of people on here enjoy to slate him and so forth, but the guy is a fantastic guy and a brilliant jockey, and is about time people appreciated him.
Well done AP, a brilliant result for you, and for racing!

I could only afford to vote once from my mobile but I’m glad it helped.
December 19, 2010 at 21:10 #333257Yes well done AP.
Very Gracious!
December 19, 2010 at 21:13 #333258Superb result Well Done !!! AP a deserved award
December 19, 2010 at 21:18 #333260First time I’ve voted for anything. A deserved success.
Value Is EverythingDecember 19, 2010 at 21:19 #333261Totally brilliant and so well deserved, let’s hope racing can celebrate AP’s achievement. Jumps racing goes from strength to strength.
December 19, 2010 at 21:20 #333262couldnt be happier! so deserved! Well done AP!! A great jockey an even greater bloke
"this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"
December 19, 2010 at 21:27 #333264I must confess I have been very irritated with AP for the last month due to his ill judged boycott and spat with RUK, and I was sure I would not vote.
However, when it got right down to it through his interview and film piece the spirit and courage of the jump jockey came through and I picked up the phone.
Well done indeed, time for a big gesture time to put the RUK thing behind us.
15 championships and many more years of excellence and sacrifice…..well done AP.December 19, 2010 at 21:33 #333265He certainly does have his knockers. And he’ll probably be playing with them later.
Well done & with Phil Taylor coming second, it’s a night of well deserved recognition for success that has stood the test of time.
Still annoyed at how little coverage racing gets on that show mind. Having to share our moment with motorcycling for goodness sake!
December 19, 2010 at 21:45 #333266Very well deserved and nice for the sport that we love to gain recognition on a national platform at peak time viewing … have to say it was 100% nailed on when they brought Fabregas on to present the award … doh, big giveaway or what ??
December 19, 2010 at 22:32 #333272He really deserved that. His will to win allied to his achievements mark him as a true sporting great, and a modest personality.
Just so relieved Phil Taylor didn’t win – darts a sport?

I also think Eng cricket team should have won best team. Winning the 20/20 world cup is more impressive than the 2 team Ryder Cup.

December 19, 2010 at 23:05 #333273I think tonight has showen me myself just how much I actually love horse racing over other sports nowadays.
I’ve always been a huge sports fan from a very early age, I will watch just about anything and enjoy it and racing hasn’t always been number one for me.
Tonight though through all the programme the part that really got me was the AP part. My spine was shivering the whole way through his little section, from the footage and the very kind words of people like Ruby Walsh and Frankie Dettori, and to be honest the rest of the programme was kind of like…"yeah, whatever"…
I was in the camp that was a bit annoyed with AP aswell with what’s gone on recently but I’m delighted he won it and my own bodily feelings told me that while watching…. Seeing the pictures of Dick Francis, Terry Newton, Garry Purdham and Keith Alexander at the end got to me aswell which must show my feeling to those particular people and their sport.
Looked a bit of an easy win in the end with 41% of the vote too!
Well done AP…

Just got back from the pub and everyone in there went mental when he won, a superb bloke and an overdue award.
What a reception he got!!
Get in theRE AP!!
December 20, 2010 at 00:17 #333288I really can’t say how many times I voted, but roughly ten times more than my other half thinks I did!
Really, really pleased for him & imo a humble man.
Amazed when Ruby Walsh said AP had travelled over 28,000 miles in races. A great night for the sport we love. - AuthorPosts
