<br>sadlers wells-darshann is a very good cross
the aga owns one of the best colections of staying broodmares along with k abdulla and the wilderstein family
<br>thanks adrian that is the article i read wish the rp had mentioned that it is effective on the 2nd time
<br>adrian
there was a very small item in the rp yesterday it just said the horse……….. will not be running at the bc meeting because of the 30 day rule on the use of lasix in illionois
when i get home if the wife has not thrown it out i will type it out for u
<br>adrian<br>is it not 30 days after in illinois they banned a horse today becuase of this (according to the rp)
<br>both lasix and bute are allowed in illinois
bute is a pain killer ideal for any horses with weak joints especially as venusian points out if the ground rides firm also as the horse will feel no pain they will stride out more to the line it does not make them run faster but it enable horses to keep the same speed longer
lasix is of help to bleeders and horses with respitory problems again it wont make a horse run faster but will help them keep to their top speed longer
i would think most european horses will use one or the other they would be disadvanatged without i would think.
if i recall correctly only fabre has not run his horses as a rule on medication.
also german fillies will not run on medication as their breeders will lose their breeding incentive bonuses they are entitled to if returned to germany
<br>i basically agree with a what rook says.
it would be unwise to think racing is totally straight or indeed any sport.
however despite panorama sensational stories and kenyon confronts what. i dont think its that bent
however when asking is racings bent i think we should establish the term "bent" meaning.
aa are we referring to corruption , doping and outright fixing of racing.
bb or are we referring to getting good handicap marks
cc giving a horse an easy with a view to its racing future
whilst aa i would definitly class as bent i wouldnt use the term bent to cover bb and cc

i read the book u mention i thought (i dont have book handy) he had made a list at the back of the book of which courses have distinct bias on a chart scale
i also seem to recall his suggestion was to check results at various courses every 2 years to ensure the draw bias had not changed
<br>its funny you should mention trainer form i am just going through last years jumps form book and an om the pages of the warwick meeting where joss naylor reversed form by about 2l with lanzerac on worse terms. on similar ground and distance
i know cases of the opposite could be brought up but as u say there are many other factors than weight that can affect the result of the race
pr
not many and your last point is what i would say is one fo the most important factors on many courses
<br>ian
the draw does make difference but i think john has pointed out something correct in that lingfield is supposed to be advantagous for low numbers but on some occassions it completely changes.
i note your point about beverly where high nos always seem best and there are other tracks that show the same distinct bias but there are tracks where the bias changes and that i think is what john is trying to point out
another example of the change was thius years york meeting where in some races (ie the ebor) it has always been an advantage to be drawn low but the last three winners have been drawn high and in some other races at this years meeting the high nos did much better than normal
you make scoff at johns theory about weight as well but if he poresents his case well he may have a case.
how many times do you here A is better of with B BY 2LB for a lenght beating and yet when they meet the result is the same. weight makes a difference but people over emphasise it
<br>john<br>an interesting thought
as regards to draw i would add some thoughts
k fallon is probably the best in breaking draw bias
some tracks the draw bias is always high or low but some tracks it changes
ascot straight mile and newmarket rowley and july being prime examples as an example this years guineas favoured very much the far side but in other years favoured the near side low numbers if u check hunt cup and britania handicap u will see same changes in results
at say three day meetings u can use normally first day results to check to see if any draw bias from your notes above if the first 2 races show a bias to high nos i suppose you could use that for the rest of the days races
it may have something to do with watering and ground management
some jockeys of course could be slaveshly follwing the draw.
at 12f races as ascot sometime u find low numbers are disadvantaged in large fields as they get pushed wide at the final bend and the short straight makes it difficult to make up lost ground
in a lot of cases it depends how the race pans out which is why it is always useful before the race to try and imagine from what you know of the horses how the race is likely to be run and from that u should have some idea whether your horse will be advantaged or disadvataged by his stall position
<br> no doubt there are plenty of others with differing thoughts!!!
<br>raymondo
why offer a horse as 4th favorite which is not running unless u expect some to take the bait.
there are many examples of non runners being priced up in ante post markets.
corals priced up a p harris horse at ascot the name escapes me for a handicap he was not entered for and i am sure there is no supplementary stage for hcaps
true no one forces people to back them
but the same comment applies to bet exchanges no one is forced into backing or laying
bookies gripes against exchanges is more to do with greed than any moral principles
<br>raymondo
how about offering ante post prices on horses that connections have made quite clear will not participate in the stated event and im not talking about rank outsiders either
<br> yes commonsense
before the bookies complain about exchanges they should perhaps look into some of their own dubious practicies
<br> theres a horse in amercia related to russian rythem called <br>" ive got a bad liver" which won a grp 3
<br>to robbo or dm
what do u consider nayefs optium distance to be 10f or 12f
allthough he has shown a lot of form on ground with cut he may actually be better with faster ground he does have a typically amercian bred gulch as a sire
<br> robbo
u seem a little harsh on golan , and from last years discussion i note you dont comment on his boost of galileos form.:) :)
no seriously there is one thing that i am thinking in terms of golan he has won three times on his debut and his only other win was when rested from the irish derby to the prix neil in september nearly 4 months so if he is so much better fresh where does he go direct to the arc (which is another big task to do) or do they risk running him in between
