Corals re ante post bets…Coral’s Simon Clare added: “All ante-post bets struck with Coral on the race since the original entry stage will remain valid, and any ante post bets settled as losers at subsequent confirmation and forfeit stages will now be revived.

“Given the unique set of circumstances however, Coral will as an ex-gratia gesture allow customers to void their ante post bets if they wish to do so due to the rescheduling of the race, and they have until midnight on December 31 to contact our customer service team and let them know. After that date all ante post bets will stand all in run or not.”

Thanks Ham. Betfair seem to be working through my bets in stages, some voided already. I had singles and doubles so I’ll see how they end up treating them.

Race rescheduled for January 6. Entries revert to the original entry stage of November. I need a few more coffees so apologies for having to ask ‘What does that mean for ante post bets placed before Monday last? Do they stand or are they void?’ (I’m guessing they stand…?)

I was – and remain – a big fan of Fallon. I thought he was a great rider and I accept there were a few ‘edges’ to his career, no point in debating that now. I bought the Kindle version yesterday, started reading at 7pm, stopped at 11pm having got halfway through without putting it down once.

I think I could suggest that if you liked Fallon you’ll enjoy the book (though I still have to read the second half…Aidan, The Court Case, the aftermath, etc.). If you didn’t like him, don’t bother with the book, you’ll just start thinking ‘He would say that wouldn’t he!’

KF won me a fair bit of money over the years (particularly 2005) and I’m of the opinion that he was one of the few riders who could get that bit extra out of a horse. I lost a lot of interest in racing when he passed his peak, the Fallon Factor was a major part of my wagering. I have friends who loath him, and friends who think he was almost without equal in the saddle. Not looking to start a debate, just commenting on the book and some of the thoughts it sparked as I read it.

Hello – I am new here!

I am excited about the racing at Chantilly today. It is great that STV racing are covering the meeting.

I would like to see Cloth of Stars go well in this. He should be fresh and could get a place, if not win.

Welcome! A few of us are hoping Cloth of Stars puts his best foot forward today. Cloth or Brametot will do for me, but I’m getting edgy as the hour approaches. Order of St George seems to be holding his place in the betting, ‘the lads’ must be confident of a good run! I can’t help feeling the British betting public have dismissed the French challenge too readily, but you can laugh at that notion when Enable bursts clear…:-)

    Good luck to all.

Jimmy was correct in that notion, as I’ve proved to myself several times! The trick of course is to choose the right ones…I’m hopeful, but will likely try to lay off ‘in running’ to cover the stakes involved. Bottle standing by to either celebrate or drown sorrows.

I’m a great believer in the words attributed to the late Jimmy Fitzgerald – ‘The bigger the odds, the more you should put on – you only need to land one to make it pay!’. So I’ve moved to being ‘modest’ on Cloth of Stars and Brametot to being on ‘large’ – the odds seem too big to me, BUT what do I know! Good Luck to All.

Cloth OF STARS could very well be going into this having won all 4 of his starts this season, and
if he had I don’t think he would be on offer at 33/1. Having watched his run in the Qatar Prix Foy
at Chantilly last time out, he nearly hit the rails at one point and had to be snatched up, and even
although it was only a 6 runner race, Baezalona somehow managed to get him completely tied up with
nowhere to go until virtually inside the final furlong, when Dschingis Secret had already got the
march on him. Dschingis Secret is trading at half his price, and there’s no way that should be the
case. There seems every chance that it could come up soft on Arc day, and that won’t trouble him at
all. If it stays dry, he’ll be equally happy. Add to that that this is a horse who broke the track
record over 10f back in April, and he was running on strongly when he eventually saw daylight
behind Dschingis Secret over 12f, and I think there is every chance that he has a very decent
shout here. I’m very keen on his chances and have had a decent bet on him e/w.

I largely agree with that summary and am on at fancy prices both win and EW. The horse has a turn of foot, but I’m not totally sure he can quicken again close to the finish, and I feel his Arc run might mirror his run in last year’s Grand Prix de Paris where he flattened out near the line. I’m also uneasy about his Betfair price which as I observed in an earlier post have had a whiff of ‘doubtful runner’ about them albeit the indications are that he’ll line up. His run in the Foy looked like what I’ll term ‘a real Arc prep…nudge, nudge..’ and he’s been kept for an Autumn campaign. So if he’s good enough over the distance I’d expect him to be in the first three.

But to be frank, I’m rather relying on Enable ‘not turning up’ so to speak, and I doubt Gosden would have left too much to chance in her prep. Anyway, it’ll be an interesting few days ahead.

Thanks guys, it was good to have your inputs and support. To be fair once I moved to mailing them with detail, including your excerpts from the rules, it was all done smoothly.

Bet365 voided my bet on Projection, so I live to fight another day!

Bit worrying Steve. I’d have thought after the relatively ‘easy’ Prix Foy run he’d be sitting around 16/1 or do. Uneasy on Betfair for the past week.

Thanks Degaussed. I have an average price of 55/1 so will likely leave it at that. Got some long prices for Brametot too, plus mmall on Order of St George at 70/1 prior to the Curragh romp. I’d reckoned Enable might see this as one race too many but that may be a forlorn hope. Anyway I can lay off to cover stakes on my selections if they line up on the day.

Looking at how Cloth of Stars is heading in the betting (46/1 on BFair) I’d almost think he wasn’t going to run. Maybe he’s just not fancied by the UK punters. I have a small interest at big odds. Not making a big case for him winning, though I think he’s got a chance, but I’d like a run for my money! Anyone heard anything re his being a definite starter?

Has anyone had an ante post bet for a horse that wasn’t declared returned by Bet365?

Thanks Steve. I reckoned that would be the case. Bookmaker ‘call centre operative’ says no, but I suspect she may be wrong as in principle with an abandoned race I could neither win nor lose. I’ll see what unfolds over coming day or do on the account.

I (foolishly) backed Projection ages ago, but it wasn’t declared. I’m guessing that ante post bet is lost even though the race was zbandoned? Anyone confirm that…?
