John  prescott is one lucky guy.

Lucky that the web of terror and all its affiliated Al Queda cells never thought to attack the memebers of the British Government directly in their attempt to stop Britsh freedom and democracy.

Actually. Maybe i am being a little bit nieve in thinking that the network/web of terror never thought to attack members of the government. Surely a eveil , well organised terror group would straight away think of such a tactic.

It must be down to Mr Blairs  war on "terror" and the great homeland security that no one has ever got near Mr Prescotts home. Good work guys. And thank you for making the world a safer place.

Lets just hope these webs of extremists never realise the potential a ladder has or else we is all fooked.<br>

It is all for the greater good my son. The guide lines handed down 2000 years ago never mentioned a chapel roof in guatamal so i really can not comment.

Honour thy father and thy mother….

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you…

Thou shalt not steel ……( oil)

    etc etc

I suppose your right Grass. Those value systems are just not in practice anymore and are not relevant to today’s world. Damn those right wing  points of view.

I wouldn’t be 100% sure of the criteria they would use to vote the next pope. It would depend on the issues the cardinals felt needed to be addressed and who they felt would stand the best chance of addressing those issues. What the issues they see as being needed to be addressed i would not know but could , given the choice they have made, hazard a guess.

Regarding your original points the pope is not choosen because he is beleived to be either a blood decendant of St Peter nor the "choosen one" by God destined /pre ordained to be pope.

I still beleive a boy of 16 had no chance of standing against the Nazi regime. Lets remember he would have been even younger when the nazis came to power recruited him to the hittler youth/boy scouts and brain washed him.  That period of his life has nothing to do with his deserving of,or not, of the papcy or his future ability to carry out the role. If anything you could argue that it would be of benefit to him in terms of life experience

    Steve,

As to the earliest ages, St. Peter himself constituted a senate for the Roman Church, consisting of twenty-four priests and deacons. These were the councillors of the Bishop of Rome and the electors of his successors. That is how far papal elections go back!

Not elected like politicians …  I can vote for a politicians but even though i am a Roman Catholic do not have the right to vote for the next pope..

Contrary to the stereotype that says that Catholics think everything the pope says is infallible, dogmatic definitions by popes are in fact very rare

Of does the pope simply get elected like a politician and this infallibility is just acquired as a part of the job, like a company car?

    Steve

If you have been watching the recent events I think it is pretty clear that he has been elected.

In Catholic theology, papal infallibility is the dogma that the Pope, when he solemnly defines a matter of faith and morals ex cathedra (that is, officially and as pastor of the universal Church), does not have the possibility of error. This doctrine was defined dogmatically by the First Vatican Council of 1870.

    Steve,

The pope is the head of the Roman Catholic Church. The pope is believed by his church to be the successor to the Apostle Peter. He is bishop of Rome and lives in a tiny nation within Rome called the Vatican. Catholics believe that when the pope speaks officially on matters of faith and morals, he speaks infallibly.

He is not  "born" to be pope ,a man never to sin from birth until grave.  God does not bring a man into this world with the only purpose to be pope.

With regards to sinners and their redemption the history of the church is pretty clear on that matter.

I, for one, look forward to being lectured on morality by a former member of the Hitler Youth.

He was 16 at the time and if you know your history you will be well aware of the situation at the time in Germany and the policy of the Nazi party who were short of fighting men after the failed campaign in Russia in using children as soldiers in the defense of Germany and esp Berlin.

What next… child soldiers in Africa on trial for murder.

Not his number one fan myself but evryone deserves a clean run before you can really criticise or otherwise.

"arrogance"  towards your opponents on the pitch is ok Grimes and maybe a little bit off the pitch is fine. If he is getting to his fellow team mates off the pitch then thats a different story. He clearly has the abillity on the pitch but if Newcastle decided he was too much trouble and bowyer and dyer were ok then O’Neill may have a problem.

Anyone who is interested in this subject has to see <br>"The Power of Nightmares: The Rise of the Politics of Fear" <br>Recently shown on the BBC this documentary will blow your mind and you will see the current situation in a whole new light.

Not sure if you can buy this but if you can its worth every penny.

If you bombard people with propoganda for long enough then nearly any action can be justified. Just look what happened in Germany during the 40’s . By the end of it most Germans saw little if anything wrong as their government marched millions of people to the gas chambers.

Sure why would they see a problem. They had been being brain washed for years. Started of that the jews were responsible for the defeat in WW1 then they were responsible for the failing ecopnomy by the end they had covinced everyone that they were a vermin race who were polluting the rest of the human race.

I’m sure if you asked anyone in Germany in 1918 if they could ever imagine a situation in which people in germany would be scientifically tested on and sent to death camps they would have never have beleived you. But by 1940’s  you would be hard pressed to find many who would  disagree with such practices.

What changed? Twenty odd years of brain washing through state propoganda.

What relevence does this have to modern day britain? <br>Apparently there is a web of terror out there waiting to strike( watch the news ……..apparently its a fact !?!?!)

Apparently there is an entire "network of terorists" out there hell bent on attacking britain because they hate democracy and freedom. Someone wants to check the conection on that network because 3 years after 9/11 they are yet to strike.  <br>Were told that they are "fundamentalist extremeists " , "terrorists" But they never stike. No convictions? Nothing.

Myabe it is all down to the sterling security work done by the british intelligence services(the same one with the wmd 45 minutes) and the security services?

Obviously not because absoltutley anyone could launch a terrorits attack in briatain.

It really is an unhealthy situation when an apparently "democraitc" country can bombard its people with non stop propoganda  which is pure lies.

They have no respect for any principles of justice freedom of democracy and are a danger to us all.

    Hi Artemis,

I don’t  think this  price movement which i am referring to is dependant on players reaching a tournament score which is set before the event. It is a much more short term reaction. If you have the likes of  Woods Mickelson Harrington Clarke or Singh et all on the course before your player is due to tee of and one of these  players goes -1 or -2  then the reaction will be to push players out.  <br>It is almost inevitable that if you have a late T time player  that some big names will be ahead of you and at some stage they will post a score which causes the market to react. At this point your player will be pushed to the next price and that is when you place the bet. <br>10/1 will go 12/1  25/1 will go 33/1 etc. Its not anything major just worth a mention.

Like you I’m a big fan of the Big events in America and love the Sunday night. PGA this weekend was a bit of a joke and the tournament never got into any sort of flow.   Hopefully the Masters won’t suffer from the smae weather problems but with such crazy weather conditions around  i wouldn’t bet against it.

Worst of all is the Fake Claire Short. If she had resigned  when Cook went Blair would have been under serious pressure. Instead she backed Bair and the war. She now prances around pretending to be some anit war principled socialist. A hero to all the  middle class left of centre "i care about the world…really i do" brigade.

Send blair and short and all  to Iraq . Let them die for Democracy. Oh sorry there to busy getting rich and living big in the name of democracy to die for it.<br>
