Im pretty sure I read Aiden saying that JFK was more of a derby horse. I would be amazed if we sure him at Newmarket.
How many Guineas winner’s has O’Brien trained? Yes 6 all first time out as well has having 2 horses placed 2nd and a couple other in the 1st 4. He knows how to train a horse to perfection to win that race,I would not concern myself one bit with most of his horses needing a run early season that’s how he has always trained.
Now onto Australia-I must admit I found it strange that he was going for the guineas given his pedigree but the notion that you cant have speed for a mile race if you have a middle distance pedigree is wrong, you only have to go back to pre 93 and it was the norm in the guineas. Iv never heard talk of Australia going for the triple crown and I very much doubt that coolmore have given it any thought (once bitten) Galileo has nothing to prove as a sire and indeed you would imagine that War Command would be number 1 given that his sire has gained from having a good season last yr,WC winning the guineas would surly add to that.
So ask yourself why is this horse number 1? Having trained 6 winners of the race already Aiden knows what it takes and what kind of horse is needed and that’s good enough for me
There a piece in the racing post today from the breeder of Australia. He talks about when Coolmore brought the horse and the vibe from them was very very strong, what was more intresting from him is when he talks about Frankie D who rode some work for Aiden last April and he rings this guy up 5 times from ballydoyle to say you have breed a special one here. Now we all know Aiden and coolmore talk up there horses but 9/10 times there proved to be right and I have a feeling they are with this horse. I think the fact that War Command is even going to the guineas says it all.
Aiden has just said on ATR that Australia is their number 1 for the guineas with War Command going for the French and would only go to Newmarket if something happened to Australia.
They have also downgraded the Derrinstown derby trail back to a grp 3 in Ireland. It hasn’t reach the required standard over the last 3yrs for the winner or placed horses. Surly the same can be said of the Dante stakes?

Not sure why you have such dislike for the O’Brien camp, but it is getting a little boring now. Fine your entitled to your opinion free speech and all but I’m not sure where you get your facts from.
Over the last 5/8 yrs I can only a few genuine group 1 horses that Wachman has trained for coolmore and they were Damson/Again.
The idea that O’Brien would of complained to Maginer and co is laughable. Ballydoyle is the heart of coolmore all their best horses go there fact. I think what’s more laughable is what Maginer was reported to have said,if Maginer put family first then one of his sons would be running Ballydoyle or even Wachman but there not because is business and in business you have the best and that what Aiden is,17 years later he’s still the boss at Ballydoyle.
The other 2 jocks at Ballydoyle accept what there positions are I don’t hear them complaining,So please give it a rest.
I think Bolger played a blinder here with this one!
Looking at Dawn Approach he’s quite a late foal April 23rd,I dont think there’s ever been a guineas winner born later than 1st April and that was Zafonic.
What quite remarkable is that he was forward enough and fast enough to run and win a maiden in March. Now Bolgers no fool and you cant help wondering if he thought that this horse was going to carry on and improve as a 3yr would he of run him that early??
I have my doubts he’s going to improve that much over the next 7 months.
I still dont get why some people continue to grab Camelot, I think I can kind of figure it out. The blessing is in the last 5 yrs we have seen 3 exceptional colts grace the racecourse whom in any other era you would be lucky to see once every 20 yrs. 1st Sea the Stars swept all before him and everyone was saying he was the best they had every seen once in a life time etc, then 2 yrs later comes Frankel and now Camelot and I think some people dont like that.
Any horse who can win the Guineas and Derby is in my book an exceptional colt and more some with Camelot what has impressed is the stats we all against him going into the guineas being only the 2nd horse in 52yrs to win the RPT to then come win the guineas in fine style was outstanding.
And finally I do wish people would stop with average derby bad crop of 3yrs rubbish and just enjoy another fantastic colt in Camelot if he can go on and win the triple crown he will be etched in history which is whats its all about.
Out of the 6 ballydoyle runner’s 2 are related to derby winners 1 is related to a host of fillies placed in the oaks,1 is a half sister to an Irish guineas and 1 a champion 2yro All very well bred filles and none home bred so why not allow them to take there chance? John magnier was asked this yrs ago and has he said you owe it to the breeders to let these horses take there chance if there breed for that and 5 of them surly are.
Back on the day sheik mo had many runners in the field for the oaks the only difference is most of coolmores have the same trainer.I cant understand why Connections are running Frankel in the Queen Ann stakes. Surly the time as come to step him up in trip and go for the prince of Wales stakes and take on better horses over a new trip. He has nothing to prove running over a mile now and you have to think connections are running scared of him getting beat over a longer trip. You can bet your bottom dollar that he wont run in the eclipse and they will wait to run him in the international stakes at York where you probably wont get a strong field.
No doubt Frankel over a mile is the best there’s ever been but hes bred to get longer and until he does his high rating cannot be justified.
Times on the track are not everything unless your a sprinter
Frankel didnt do a good time in last yrs guineas, neither did George Washington does that mean they were not good performances??
Anyone who manage to watch the coverage of the ballydoyle horse’s at the curragh back in March could not of failed to of be impressed by Maybe, she looked to done very well physically and was quite impressive in her work out with kissed that day. I think it will take a good filly to lower her colours on Sunday as im sure she was only every doing enough in her races last season.
Andy what’s your problem with Joseph?? im intrigued.
One cool cat run in the guineas was to bad to be true,if I remember he was tailed off by half way and was found to have a funny heartbeat by the on course vet,As for SNA he ran pretty well all things considered, the thing that put me off him for the guineas was he was a late April foal and and was never going to forward enough for the guineas.
Well considering Aidan ran Footstepsinthesand in This after his maiden win then no not at all,and surly if you believe that then the same must apply to what John Oxx thinks about born to sea
It looks a interesting affair no doubt, but I do fancy Nephrite for this, for me he was as impressive even more so than Born to sea when he won his maiden and it was interesting that his trainer nominated this race straight after.
Not sure why Frankel has ended up on this thread, but the idea that he hasn’t been kept to a simple path is laughable of course he had. Im not saying I would of wanted Frankel to run in the derby but surly that he was bred for.
After all he is a home bred and his 3 parts brother stayed the trip well and one could argue very successfully that Galileo is a greater influence for stamina that his sire ever was and if Prince K had wanted a miler then why not send the dam to Oasis dream or Dansili?? No when he sent her to Galileo it was probably the aim to produce a derby winner.Frankel has kept an easy path this term with 4 races and surly the true test of a thoroughbred is to let them take on the best around??
People may criticise Coolmore and Ballydoyle but one thing they never do is duck a challenge and if Frankel had been there then he would of took in the Eclispe/international/and Irish champion for sure.
