BORN TO SEA
NEPHRITE
SEANIE
VAULT
WHILE YOU WAIT
AARAAS
ISHVANAAnyone else excited about this race? I have to say I feel the biggest threat is Nephrite, but fingers crossed Born To Sea is as good as I hope.
He won last time on yielding, so hopefully the recent rain around Dublin will not cause undue concern.
October 28, 2011 at 19:11 #374597It looks a interesting affair no doubt, but I do fancy Nephrite for this, for me he was as impressive even more so than Born to sea when he won his maiden and it was interesting that his trainer nominated this race straight after.
October 28, 2011 at 19:32 #374599Interesting race indeed. I’ve seen BTS at the Curragh when he made a winning debut and he looked great. But I have to agree: Nephrite is the main danger obviously and I fancy him on Sunday as well. He looked great in the parade ring before he won in quite impressive fashion his first start.
October 28, 2011 at 21:19 #374611I concur that Nephrite’s maiden was taking, but I wonder why Aidan did not nominate him for one of the big 2yo G1 races if he was showing something special?
A legitimate argument might be that the horse is backward, but then again Camelot showed us he is top of the tree by running in a G1 straight off his maiden, which suggests he thinks this horse is not a good.
Who knows though…I am merely pontificating with arguments to try and bolster my hope in Urban Sea’s wee boy!
October 28, 2011 at 22:20 #374616Well considering Aidan ran Footstepsinthesand in This after his maiden win then no not at all,and surly if you believe that then the same must apply to what John Oxx thinks about born to sea
October 29, 2011 at 10:02 #374670Not really, because John Oxx rarely runs his good 2yos in G1 races and generally gives them a very light campaign in order to preserve them for the Classic year.
Conversely, every year Aidan will run his best 2yos in G1 races and thus absence from such an engagement is a legitimate concern.
October 30, 2011 at 16:52 #375013The winner looked awesome in the ring, loose limbs and a wonderful stride.SL had loser lame after race. Any word about that.He looked for a stride or two like he was going on to win and suddenly he was beaten. No comment from Oxx?
October 30, 2011 at 19:06 #375067A lightish type with a bit of scope and as good a walker as you will see Nephrite was well bought and looks a good prospect. Born to Sea is a typical Invincible Spirit, strong and close coupled. He is an attractive sort and looks as if a mile would be his trip. Probably short of group one class though.
October 30, 2011 at 19:12 #375069Admiralofthefleet, with reference to your comment it is interesting that Nephrite was entered in the Birdcatcher Nursery at Naas recently. There is a big pot but the entry fee is correspondingly big so they must have seriously considered the race for him. Makes you wonder if he is proving better than they thought although he was very well backed today.
October 30, 2011 at 19:37 #3750742 smashing horses today…and the Ballydoyle Colt was a exceptional looking animal and put in a superb performance. He will win a Group 1 next year no doubt and would be my Guineas Horse personally. Great change of gear when needed.
October 30, 2011 at 23:06 #375107Totally agree. Nephrite looked brilliant before the race and he travelled like a dream during the race. I was already a bit excited about him after his first start but today he was even better obviously. And the way he travelled through the race indicates that he should stay one mile quite well.
