Thx Vtc, I’ll go 2 points win on Valdez at General 12’s then. I’m suprised Annie power isn’t in the betting for this too, she seems favourite for every other race at the festival…

Who knew zarkander was such a yardstick ;)

OC strikes me as a very talented animal but he hasn’t got the stomach for a battle as yet. He is only a pup after all, and that’s where he needs to find the improvement to progress. He could, in time be very very special.

Champ chase is impossible to assess from an AP perspective with the bookies taking cover from both the likely winners and every other horse looking to avoid the race dependant on entries. A speculative bet to me at this stage appears to be kid Cassidy at 20/1 generally, 1pt EW

Evening all. I’d like to throw my hat in with Melodic rendezvous for the CH at 50/1 and Al Ferof for the gold cup at 16’s. Both EW.

Fran, look into train routes to cheltenham as the train/bus service direct to Prestbury park is efficient and expedient. Find accommodation in one of the towns on the train route like Bristol, kidderminster or chepstow. I train in from weston super mare each day and it’s tolerable although gold cup day is tough work.

Agreed alderbrook, although the lack of potential pace is a concern.

I would be very excited to see sprinter sacre turn up at aintree. He’s a modern day superstar and Nicky is right to search out his full potential. He hardly had a race at Cheltenham and it would be a real shame to tuck him away at 7 years old for four races a season.

Imagine if Kauto had been limited to 2m his whole career after winning the tingle creek. We have never seen sprinter sacre even close to the limit of his ability, give him the chance to build a legacy rather than be another quevaga plundering a weak division, albeit weak through horses stepping up to avoid him. Give em nowhere to hide Nicky, take the fight to them.

Lol careful Rich, many hats are eaten after the national!
I’ve been reviewing the NH chase at Chelts today, and have decided that Tofino Bay probably lacks the scope and strength to handle the national fences at this stage. Colbert station and Chicago bay main bets for now.

The bookies are dodging Colbert Station in the fear that AP takes the ride. 16 is short enough in this race but he will be shorter still on the day, probably single figures. Chicago grey stands out more and more as the weights steadily climb as does On His Own. PdB looks to have too much weight given his recent run in the bobbyjo but I’d rather have tofino bay onside right now in case the going remains soft. Viking blond has very little chance of getting in but if the ground comes heavy and horses pull out he could creep in the bottom of the weights, at which point his 150-300/1 on betfair would look terrific.
