Probably easier to direct you to a link than explain:
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stifle_joint?wasRedirected=trueDanny,
In GB arabian bred races are run under the control of ARO and tend to be on arab only cards either at regular racecourses or occasionally at point to point courses. On occasions the feature races are run as part of a Thoroughbred card such as Newmarket, Ascot, Longchamp on Arc day etc.
In other countries such as Dubai, Germany and France they are trained alongside thoroughbreds but over here they are trained by arabian specialists such as Gill Duffield.
There are races for pure-bred and part bred arabians. In the international races they are normally ridden by well known professional jockeys – the Ascot race was won by Christophe Lemaire and Richard Hills usually rides those for Sheikh Hamdan. However the ARO races are usually ridden by amateur jockeys – some of which specialise in riding arabs.
Excellent answer Adrian! Just one footnote – we don’t race on point to point tracks anymore.
Hi,
It has been very interesting to see various people’s thoughts on the placement of an Arabian Race in the middle of a prestitigious thoroughbred card.
The inclusion at that particular point was at the request of the sponsors, the Emirates Equestrian Federation, as they see their role in promoting Arabian Racing in the UK as a very important one.
As for the comments regarding there being no form for these horses, full form comments are provided in the RP card on the day of the race including a race analysis. Also, full past results and form indexes are available at http://www.aroracing.co.uk and full international Arabian Race form can be found at http://www.ifahr.net.
Although our database is not as advanced as the RP or other TB sites all the information is freely available.
Arabian Racing operates as a microcosm of TB racing. We have our own handicapper so every horse is rated in relation to the other horses registered with us. ARO acts as the administrative body, the disciplinary body and everything else for Arabian Racing in the UK. ARO is, however, regulated by the BHA in the same way that P2P racing is.
By this, it would mean that placing a Purebred Arabian race in the middle of the card is no different to placing a Hunter Chase in the middle of a card, as both are regulated and approved by the BHA.I am sure there are plenty of people on here who do not support Arabian Racing and everyone has their own opinion but all I ask is that you give it a chance.
There will be another Purebred Arabian Race, a Group 1 this time, taking place immediately following the King George at Ascot on Saturday 25th July.
If anyone has any questions feel free to post them here or PM me and I will endeavour to pass on as much information as I can.
I shall be there with the ARO stand during the day and probably somewhere near the Malt in the evening. Come and say hi if you see me!
I had a friend who rode her horse to the pub for a few drinks with friends. She proceeded to get rather intoxicated and rode home in that state. She was stopped by the police because she was all over the road and could barely stay on the horse. They did actually charged her with being drunk in charge of a horse. This was about 6 years ago so it can still happen…
The track looks superb and the facilities are coming together very nicely. The course is in a superb setting, although I saw it on possibly the most miserable day Wales has ever seen!
The track itself is very wide with huge sweeping bends. Driving round the service road you barely feel as if you are going round a bend. The drainage looks to be well planned as well.
I wish them the very best of luck because it definitely deserves to succeed. The layout has been thoughtfully planned to suit all racegoers and connections. I certainly hope to be at their first meeting…
64…I’m quite proud of that! Kicked myself when I realised the obvious ones I had missed though…
Sorry Lekha,
Were you there?
Had I seen your post would have looked out for you.
You should’ve introduced yourself.Mark
I certainly was. I said a quick hi to the TRF team but my friend and I sneaked away after the break. We were sat in the corner watching…
Well done team and well done Zome. Was great to meet you guys at last, if only briefly.
I am proud to say I knew the answer to 1 question during the quiz…made me feel good anyhow!Look forward to seeing you all there.
Will be cheering you on from the stands!
I plan to be at Barbury on Sunday, weather permitting. Believe it or not it will be my first P2P…

Durham’s congestion charge is minimal though and only restricts entry to the ancient Bailey part of the city which is a comparatively small area which couldn’t deal with the traffic on its narrow one way streets.
It really did work well in Durham and also made it much easier for pedestrians to get around the town.
However, it seems to have been a waste of time in London and thank god they aren’t going to have it in Manchester…That sounds like a fun plan. Not sure if my knowledge would be up to it though! If you are stuck for people to build a team then put me in but my knowledge of racing past is somewhat sketchy…
Nacarat NR I’m afraid
Oh, f-f-f-f-f…………… Leonard Parkin.

Breathe Jeremy…
Odd, I anticipated being the lone Nacarat fan! Almost all of his rivals aren’t suited to the race conditions in one way or another.
I just don’t really like the idea of betting something that’s rated so much below the rest. I hope the 25/1+ is more than compensatoryNacarat NR I’m afraid
Huntingdon goes ahead though…
A number of people browse this site but don’t post who are industry people…
