Its quite amateur in this country, poor prize money and the stock isnt great. looking at the race times, the UK harness horses couldnt compete with OZ, NZ or USA. Most UK horses dont seem to break 2 mins and the UK older horses are winning races in the same times as NZ 2yo`s win their qualifing trial in. Its good fun, but it has a long long way to go before its on par with other countries
The road is still closed off, police were still there yesterday night. Theres a sad atmosphere in the whole town.
I heard yesterday that theres a possibility that the flats didnt even have planning permission.The lads in the yard were talking about it this morning when I was doing my horses. Police and Fire engines were all over Malton.
More updates to my site if anyone wants a look. http://www.kiwibloodstock.com
If you go to this page on my website you can download a demo of TesioPower breed software, where you can look at the duplications, sex balanced duplications, siblings, cross matches, dosage report, tail lines and prominent ancestors. The software works out inbreeding co-eficient, xfactor etc and gives you readings on possibilities. lots of info contained in it. I think the demo is either 15 days or 30 uses. Dont worry, its not a sales pitch, lol. but it will make pedigree far more understandable for those who havent used it.

Thats cool, After re-reading your thread it makes sense. lol theres me putting 2+2 together and coming up with 5
IJF a joke? I dont think so buddy! When I broke my neck they helped with costs, they paid for my Physio and rehab, they paid my bills, they offered support, and when I was well again they paid a huge amount of my fees when re-training. They support not just licensed and ex jockeys, but many stable lads too. They purchased a house and wheelchair for an ex conditional, purchased many electric wheelchairs for jockeys with spinal injuries, they help so many people financially and really deserve more respect.
I dont believe that owners, trainers and studs do enough for ex racehorses, the thoroughbred rehab and the Moorcroft do a great job. I see there are a few dealers that latched onto this concept and see it as a way of selling people cheap ex-racehorses and making a profit. The BHB set up their own I believe while I was away in NZ, I havent had as much to do with it as I have with the other charities, but from what I can gather, it was supposedly set up so they didnt have to give as much funding to the other charities. For the record, Carrie Humble at the TRC does a class job clearing up the mess that the industry creates.Couple of good books and links here;

The Gentleman in NZ is called Clive Harper, he wrote the history of thoroughbred breeding but I cant find it anywhere
Horses are herd animals not pack animals. A pack hunt together in order to eat, and a herd will graze together for mutual protection. Horses are flight animals and will run when faced with danger, then look back to see what was chasing them, very rarely will a horse stand and fight unless its another horse.
Running is one of the most natural things a horse can do, but like us they vary in competitiveness. you usually find that the more intelligent the horse, the less they want to race. I suppose a cheat would be a kinder name. lolTessio, the genius himself. There are some great books written about his theories and practice. Theres also a guy called Clive in NZ, cant remember his Surname but ill find it out for you
Funny how this thread went from Japans horses banned from the cup and Barts comments to Brits having chips on their shoulders and GB breds being useless.
August 22, 2009 at 00:55 in reply to: Fallon – should we be celebrating his return to the sport? #245212I can pretty much guarentee that EVERY licensed trainer in the world has said to a jockey at some point in their career, "This horse isnt off today, we need to drop it" or "Drop it out the back and let it run home to make it look good" and to keep the rides coming in we ride to orders.
You have a choice as a jockey, either ride to orders or dont keep the rides. Im not saying Keiran was completely innocent but he wasnt the only one involved in the supposed race fixingAugust 17, 2009 at 09:59 in reply to: Fallon – should we be celebrating his return to the sport? #244275Hes a good bloke Seabird, not at all what you would expect. Hes made a few mistakes in life, but who on here can say they have never done anything they regret!

He was picked up drunk and police found cocaine in his pocket. The story was, a Japanese owner put it in his top pocket after he won the race or something along those lines. Didnt really affect his career or the racing industry, people were happy to believe it. As long as Jockeys perform on the racecourse who cares how they poison themselves in their own time. As for the race fixing, wherever money is involved you get cheats. Its not right, and I dont agree with it but what can we do about it?
Hi racinggirl, I was his apprentice from about 91 – 94
