Apologies guys if this has already been covered…
Does anybody know if there is a website or blog etc anywhere that lists the commentary roster ?
It’s the first thing i do when i buy my racecard on arrival to see who is on duty. Most are good for different reasons and i’m happy with most names especially likes of Hoiles Holt & Hunt
As for Lee McKenzie well yes there has to be one to hope gets removed from the list !
Any help would be appreciated please
TWIST MAGIC had to be put down after falling two out when travelling well in the lead, overshadowing the dogged victory of the Tom George-trained Tartak.
One of the most popular chasers of recent seasons, with five Grade 1 victories to his credit, Twist Magic was put down after fracturing a fetlock.
Paul Nicholls, who trained Twist Magic to win nine of his 26 races after moving from France, including the Tingle Creek Chase on two occasions, said: "He was such a wonderful horse and it’s a real tragedy, but these things happen.
"He was going to win without coming off the bridle and I’m gutted."
Twist Magic was about a length in front of Breedsbreeze, with Tartak another couple of lengths behind, when he came down.
Breedsbreeze was left in front but Tartak, who had been prominent throughout, rallied going to the last andoutstayed his rival on the gruelling run to the line.
Twist Magic had been reluctant to start and had to be led in by two of Nicholls’ staff, but he took the lead down the back straight and appeared full of running when he fell.
Fighting Fifth starring Binocular confirmed is now added to tomorrow’s Hennessy meeting at Newbury
quote from "The Antepost King"
Tell Massini sadly died today at Newbury,it wasn"t the worst looking fall in the world but his neck was buried underneath him as he slid across the ground,it was one of those slow motion events but he quickly got up so relief was quick that all was fine! Unfortunately not! Sometimes you see a horse fall and your gut reaction is Oh No! On this occassion i thought Oh Yes he"s fine,it just shows you how dangerous jumping fences can be a stark reminder to myself that you just cant take things for granted at this game,i was picturing this fellow running in the 2012 Gold Cup! Not to be i"m afraid! Very sad day for all concerned!
Welcome Jon
I was at Aintree, in your neck of the woods on National Day. A great place to be around the paddock after backing a 100/1 winner !
Sure you’ll find this forum informative interesting and infuriating in all the right ways !
Gotta agree with davidjohnson – Without doubt the best courses in my opinion are York for Flat and Cheltenham for jumps – I do like Doncaster too which is dual purpose of course.
I have been to about 40 of the 60 and would like to add my appreciation for Bangor-on-Dee a small track and unique in atmosphere. I went for the first time 3 years ago and enjoyed so much i went again last month.
I also like on small track subject Ludlow and Market Rasen. I also enjoyed further afield Musselburgh and Hamilton.
Least favourite has to be Worcester and Wolverhampton. Facilities at latter are pathetic. It should be free to go in which would make it more bearable.
Not wanting to complicate matters…….diverting some attention away from Jonjo…….i notice now that Sue Smith as also withdrawn all 3 of her Southwell runners this afternoon. Race 3 down to 8 runners now…
According to the official site it says Tattersalls is sold out, and looks like most of the more expensive enclosures too so its gonna be rammed for sure. The quality of racing tomorrow (Thu) is so good its worth considering going then instead to be honest.
I didn’t see what had happened and wasn’t there.
Robert Cooper confirmed the fatality on At The Races.
2.00 Pigeon Island (Blue Bajan)
2.35 Mahogany Blaze (Kruguyrova)
3.15 Katchit (Harchibald)
4.00 Ofarel D’Airy (Mon Mome)
4.40 Kilbeggan Blade (Wonderkid)
5.20 Ashkazar (Chapoturgeon)Good luck all at The Greatest Show on Earth – especially the Twiston-Davies team. Come on Paddy Brennan !
Hope all horses come back safe and sound
Just incase the BBC racing text editor would like some help re today, there were 7 races at Doncaster – obviously must have got bored after 5 unless you backed HOWLE HILL cos last 2 are missing.
Oh and by the way Kempton started at 6.20 so you have 4 races to update !
Thank heavens i have Racing UK – their text is excellent and no adverts like on C4.
fair play – acknowledgement on site today – more winners for the team tomorrow hopefully with the excellent Paddy Brennan and David England back from injury
Friday 12th October
Firstly, apologies for inadvertently leaving out a couple of runners yesterday! Brain storm!
No runners for us today but plenty entered tomorrow.
Indeed looks like main focus is on the money at Chepstow which will be much more competitive i would say
However NEZ ROUGE looked like a future winner last time and is entered up at both Welsh tracks.
More great race planning eh having Bangor and Chepstow on same day…old chestnut that one
I am off to Doncaster tomorrow and having been a visitor on a few occasions in the past (last time 2004) i can say i will do my best to give my opinions on the new facilities compared to previous. Doncaster have been quoted as saying "Don’t judge us in August, judge us in September at the Leger meeting", so i hope that doesn’t mean too many restrictions tomorrow or the place looking like a building site still !
You seem to have a point on 104 dj.
Ive just discovered that according to RP site, he’s had 100 turf runs + 4 all-weather (inc 2 in Dubai)
Sportinglife site says runs: 100. So they are wrong and strangely not including at least the two a/w races he had at Lingfield in 2005
Anyway whatever……my wallet is happy
most 7yo handicappers drop 20lbs here and there dj to get back to their winning rating – did i say he was a group horse ?
Leave Mala alone – he hasn’t harmed you has he or did you just back against him……..
A tough one to call for sure – i have seen some superb rides in recent days that have boosted my bank account from Messrs McCoy, Fitzgerald & Murphy (surprised he’s not on the vote). Good to see a positive mention about David England too – only a matter of time surely before he becomes no 1 at Twiston-Davies yard.
However i will vote for Ruby Walsh – there’s just something special about him and his sheer commitment and horsemanship is a pleasure to watch. Lets hope all these top jocks stay clear of injury ahead of Cheltenham.
