Getting in early….
Lyvius – 1.15 Hay
Volnay De Thaix – 2.25 Hay
Silviniaco Conti – 3.00 Hay – Nap
Mister Marker – 3.35 Hay – Res
I think the same applies about Oscar Whisky…if he could jump better as well it would probably have been him and Buywise fighting out the finish….I’d say the first five are all fairly useful and you would get a different result every time if you ran it again and again. It’s all about jumping though…

Bobs Worth being aimed at the Lexus at Leopardstown….won’t run in the King George….I don’t think they aim to run him right handed whatsoever….
Nice one to all involved, running it and stumping up the money…fair play!
ANNIE POWER
BEAT THAT
BOBS WORTH
JEZKI
OSCAR WHISKY (star horse)
SAM WINNER
SILVINIACO CONTI
SIMONSIG
SPRINTER SACRE
THE NEW ONEOscar Whisky for me….
Taquin du Sueil going for the betfair…some others may not show up, and after falling at the first on the JLT, was very much fancied for that, so could well have loads more to come this season. Was a class above over hurdles, so think this will be a stepping stone to a good season. It sure is, but as I have already said, "any" ante post bet come with risk, so for me he goes in any ante post permutation….he’s the Frankel of the jumps and 3/1 at any time of the year is just to big to resist.
Good luck with your trebles! If Sprinter Sacre turns up for the champion chase it will be like printing money.
He won’t be 3/1 on the day if he does, but the gamble is whether or not he actually makes it there. At that price it has to be worth a speculative punt.
Any ante post bet is a speculative punt they will make it to the big day, regardless if they have had problems in the past, so 3/1 about pretty much a certainty has to be an ante post play. All fair points but he has only been beaten a nose and was going by far the best of the field. He should kick horses on earlier rather than holding onto them and win by the smallest margins…he’s been found wanting too many times for my liking. Maybe I’m being a bit harsh today, but it happens all too often, and rather than blame the horse, the jockey had something to do with it today. If they all had doubts, which apparently they did, then why not employ better tactics?
Only Richard Hughes can get beat on a 1/2 chance in a 6 runner group 1….comes to the furlong marker and decides to take a pull near enough? He really thinks he’s something special trying to win by a nose every time…go on and win the race!!! He did it last week with Quick Jack….the only reason he is champion jockey is the amount of firepower the Hannon’s have, it has nothing to do with his skills as a horseman. He gets beat on horses that shouldn’t get beat more than any other jockey.
Have you ever won anything on it harvey?
Did it once, thought I was doing fantastic in it, most of my horses were doing well but I was just about in the top half

Not my cup of tea.
Came within 2 points of grabbing a monthly prize on the flat last season (£2,500).
And three years ago came around 80th over jumps, but no prizemoney.
Enjoy it all the same…I don’t know how much it costs to run the competition, but if 70% of the fund goes towards prizemoney, then I would have thought 30% would be more than enough to cover running costs, administration etc.
I’m pretty certain the jumps has always been more popular than the flat making the number of entrants considerably more, hence more money collected.
If the flat competition was waining then maybe scrap that, but don’t do it to the jumps based on those figures….
A very good competition, made better by the decent website they designed….will be sorely missed…..Having just watched last years gold cup again I can’t help thinking there was something slightly amiss. Can’t put my finger on it, but perhaps the ground after the last fence was better stand side? It’s funny how the two leading horses in the market, ratings, one won the previous gold cup and the other travelling well before falling, were both a good couple of lengths ahead at the last, both had already past Boston Bob, and three horses rated fairly inferior sped by to fight out the finish. It looks like they both fell in a hole far side of the track.
Silviniaco Conti won the King George because he stayed, Bobs Worth won the previous Gold Cup because he stayed, so I don’t but into the fact they both ran a stone below par. They were both in front jumping the last, then got swamped on the run in.
Something doesn’t sit right for some reason, I could be talking jibberish, but just saying what I see.
I don’t think come March either of these two horses will be outside the first three in the market, and certainly don’t see either out of the first four.
If Paul Nicholls says Silviniaco Conti wasn’t finishing his races off last year and they have put that right, he must have a huge chance of winning this time around, especially if Fehily holds him up a bit longer. At 12/1 I think he represents a decent bet.According to reports today, they haven’t made up their mind about Vautour or Annie Power. They are chasers in the making but due to their performances over hurdles they could remain over hurdles this season. That then muddies Faugheen’s waters as he stays over hurdles, but not necessarily the champion. It seems a lot hinges on what they do with Vautour…the arkle surely is at his mercy as is the champion to Faugheen, but they could all yet remain over hurdles and therefore avoid each other. Nice headache to have though!
