Lots of notable efforts in there and excellent rounds of jumping from most of them too.
Johns Spirit
must deserve a crack at the Ryanair after that fantastic effort and was possibly a little unlucky to be the sitting duck as
Caid Du Berlais
stormed up the hill.
Present View
is such a great jumper of fences. He went into the first fence disputing fourth and landed in the lead! You’ve got to give him credit for hanging tough for so long after going such a solid pace.
Oscar Whisky
was given an intelligent ride by Barry Geraghty. The horse doesn’t really jump fences well and doesn’t like big fields, so sitting wide and prominent was smart thinking. He’s probably just not as good as he used to be.
Champion Court
seemed to have been freshened up by his spell of hunting and certainly ran with a little more enthusiasm today. He backed out of it pretty quickly once asked to battle and might have some sort of physical issue.
It didn’t work in the end, but Gavin Sheehan deserves a mention for his ride on
Cedre Bleu
too. This horse is a notorious dog, but he used a few classic Timmy Murphy tactics to keep his mount interested. Little pats down the neck and tweaks of the horse’s ears after every fence got him travelling and even looking like a threat as they came down the hill. Cedre Bleu didn’t last home, but is worth noting for place prospects next time if allowed to team up with Sheehan again.

Oscar Whiskey 20/1No wonder you aint a Bookmaker Ginge…..20/1 about
Oscar Whisky
?? The Class horse in the race cant be out the 5.
It’s a 100% book TAPK, so the 20/1 has a bookies mark up so 14/1 is the price I’d have offered; win only so you’d have lost your money.
Oscar isn’t as good over fences despite being suited by the slower than usual pace today.Value Is EverythingNovember 15, 2014 at 16:09 #495342My 100% book:

Value Is EverythingNovember 15, 2014 at 18:23 #495366My "Dark Horse" Easter Meteor made a mistake when beginning his challenge but he went out like a light and put in a pathetic effort on 9lbs better terms than he was with today’s runner up on last years’s running of the race.
As I had worried about, the extra weight just caught John’s Spirit out on the run-in but he ran a belter with more weight on his back this year. His backers must have thought he’d bagged it but he was mown down by the storming finish of the winner.
Present View must come under consideration for the next time he runs on a sounder surface. With better conditions underfoot his sound jumping will be a boon from the front and he should be harder to reel in.
I had concerns about Buywise’s jumping and that was what did him in today. A mistake at the first was followed by a few more errors and it was all too late when he started coming past beaten horses.
I have to admit to not considering the winner at all but outside of that the race pretty much went the way the form and betting suggested it would and I thought Champion Court ran really well for quite a long way as well.
Perhaps it is worth observing that today’s winner was beaten a comfortable 31 lengths by Road To Riches, when trying to concede two lbs to Noel Meade’s recent J N Wines winner, when they met in the Galway Plate Chase at the end of July.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
November 18, 2014 at 07:42 #495647If Buywise could jump he would be an absolute monster!
School him Evan or aim him at the Pertemps!
November 18, 2014 at 09:41 #495653I think the same applies about Oscar Whisky…if he could jump better as well it would probably have been him and Buywise fighting out the finish….I’d say the first five are all fairly useful and you would get a different result every time if you ran it again and again. It’s all about jumping though…
