    2) Forpadydeplasterer 11/8F

    ‘Nuff said.

Very surprised by how big Poquelin’s got, you’d think that he’d be the e/w bet of the race with his course form, top weight or not.

Thing is, Imperial Commander doesn’t really go on right-handed tracks. It’s also worth pointing out that his only wins outside of Cheltenham were an Irish Point-to-Point and a novices hurdle at Newcastle.

Could it be, maybe, that the jockeys we see as ‘under-rated’ are actually those without links to the big stables?

    Just a thought.

Right, as it stands, I like the look of Poquelin – yes, he’s top of the weights, but Popham takes five off, and his recent course and distance form is pretty darned good.

I reserve the right to contradict myself, mind you!

I don’t wanna upset the apple cart but if Sea The Stars would’ve been in the same position as Zenyatta going into the straight, he’d have won

True, BUT! Kinane wouldn’t have put him in such a position, and he wouldn’t have resorted to the whip.

how about my favourite jockey..Graham Lee!

I’m not saying he should replace Ruby on The King…but I’ve seen Lee give horses rides which, were he McCoy, everyone would be raving about.

    Seriously underrated jockey.

As it stands right now, I’m thinking of Weird Al, if he runs – he’s a decent weight, he’s got great form, and I think he could be something special. I certainly think he’s got as good as a chance as Long Run, a horse about whom there are jumping issues.

Then again, I really don’t know much about this Catch Me horse some of you chaps are tipping up – care to enlighten me?

    Absolutely awful ride.

Equally worse is the way he was smacking her down the straight to make up for his very bad error of judgement.

American jockeys aren’t as good as actual horsemanship as British, Irish and European jockeys.

If Smith, Borel, or any of their countrymen came to this side of the pond, they would spend all their time getting banned.

Our homegrown steeplechase jockeys are very good-Danielle Hodson, Richard Boucher, and Matt McCarron could definitely do well in the UK. That’s why I’m so excited about young Anna Napravnik, she got her start in the jumps racing world.

As an aside, I am somewhat fascinated by American Steeplechasing, and I would love to see more American horses and jockeys come over here and do well.

However, I still think most of their flat boys would spend most of their UK racing careers serving whip bans!

Did Mike Smith mess it up?

Commentators seem to think he did.

As I was watching I thought there was no way she’d get within ten lengths at the finish. Credit to the horse to finish where she did but goodness me, surely he should have bustled her up early to keep tabs on them.

It doesn’t matter how good a horse is, letting the leaders get a furlong lead is a REALLY BLOOD STUPID idea.

I’m upset but slagging off Mike Smith isn’t gonna make me feel any better.

It’s not about slagging off – it’s about speaking the truth.

Could you imagine Moore, Dettori, Hughes*, Hanagan, Murtagh or Peslier, to name but five, screwing up like that?

*Before anyone mentions the Queen Anne Stakes, Goldikova accelerated as soon as Paco Boy got near her, and Goldi’s superiority over Paco has been proven.

Mike Smith screwed up big time.

Tempted to agree with Big Mac’s ‘over-confidence’ thesis.

    Utterly, utterly glorious.

I’m sure I mentioned it before, but I backed her ante-post at 6/4…and this was my first winner in absolutely AGES.

But enough about me – what more is there to say about this wonderful horse?

Both great jockeys, but Hanagan gets my vote because he’s been doing it on horses that, frankly, weren’t as good as Hughes’. It’ll be good to see someone who isn’t an ‘insider’, as it were, do it.

Oh, and before anyone says anything, I’m Welsh and I live in Essex!
