I think you are in the minority if you believe him! And, still begs the question of why was it not reported to Betfair before he was caught by the BHA?
I don’t like him, or dislike him, he is just nothing special as far as I am concerned, and therefore I do not see why he is given so much airplay and expects to be treated any different from anyone else in this instance.
I think he has been lucky! He could have got 18 months.
Because he is so high profile attention is on him, on the other hand he may have got let off lightly because of this too, hard to tell. He did not do himself any favours in my opinion by using his defense of accidently laying Gullible Gordon.
No one believes that one, especially those who were listening to his case.
I don’t think he would win an appeal either.
His horses are half owned by him and half his Mother on paper. So unless someone buys out his half the horses cannot run. I would imagine that Barber will buy Denman.
He may be a nice guy but he is a little too big mouthed for me, and seems to lack common sense. Truly hyper active! Not one of my heroes in racing.
I bet there are plenty of trainers today who are none too happy with the state of this mess. How many horses will be unable to run before January next year? Loads. Including Denman who may have been back at Newbury to defend his crown.
I never really bought his story that he accidently laid Gullible Gordon either.

Shame that Denman may be remembered more for one of his owners than for the wonderful racehorse he has been.
Double Trigger is free of Northern Dancer blood and generally considerd a decent outcross. His fee is reasonable and he has had a fair amount of success. He’s a good sized horse too.
Not sure where you are in the country, he’s in Devon. Stands at East Burrow Farm, owned by Sarah and John Haydon.
I was going to post a link to a page on Coolmore’s own website where they gave you the history of the stud but they seem to be changing their pages, so the page I wanted is no longer there. Puzzle.
Anyway, this should answer part of the query.
Sangster was a partner early on and then sold out. He bred Sadler’s Wells who ran in his colours.

The large stallion owners such as Darley and Coolmore check on the foals of each mare who use one of their sires and rate them before they would ever go for sale. It gives them the opportunity to see how their sires are doing possibly before the public do and to buy privately if they want to.
Coolmore are active at the sales, but also, like anyone in racing, have their connections who they keep an eye on, such as the breeders of Yeats, Barronstown Stud.
I don’t think we have all the facts on this incident and cannot really judge correctly what happened or who was in the wrong. I have heard that the vet who should have been there for the first trotting up was not present, another vet observed, so then this is the racecourse’s fault not Ballydoyle’s.
All I can say is that it makes no sense whatever to ask for the horse to trot up again when he is clearly thought to be injured, and has already trotted. I own horses, have had injured horses, and you would not want to jar them up without a VERY good cause. Especially when they have been iced and made ready to travel and have a long journey ahead of them.
Will be interesting to see what the investigation throws up.
History is weird indeed, you just cannot imagine it beforehand.
Press all over St Nicholas Abbey being the ‘next’ Sea The Stars and now, if anything is going to be that impressive (and I DOUBT it) it’s Workforce who has broken the track record and is the best since Horse Of The Decade Generous.
Who could have thought?
Paul, how did you post and be at Epsom at same time?
Thanks for the photo evidence though, and good photos they are too!
I have to admit that I too did see some people in this VIP area, but not that many to warrant it. Then again, if it is for owners who do not have a horse in that race, then at least it is a worthy cause as owners more often than not do not get much back for their money unless very lucky.
I took a pic of it during first race, when empty and was going to complain as fed up with it but ….. as you say it was used later on.
I think Ryan is exceptional, he has magic hands, so light a touch and he may be quiet with people but he gets on so well with horses.
He rode a filly for me when he was still a claimer and he was very polite with us, shy as heck, but gave us plenty of information about her.
I think he deserves his success, he works really hard and is hard on himself.
However, I still think Fallon is better, or was better, and no one rides Epsom as well as he does. Shame he messed up his career, for both him, and for us who liked to watch him.
Nice to see Ryan a bit more animated today too!
Monsignor is one of the ‘mascot’s at HEROS, you can read about him here. He is well, looking fabulous and rainsing money for other ex racehorses with his public appearances. He is on their logo.
I believe that Beech Road died awhile back.
Sorry do not know about the others mentioned.
Depressing isn’t it? And the saddest part is that whoever thought this crap up is getting a fat pay packet too!
I never knew Craig, was before my racing forum participation time. I’m a bit of a loner really and just did my own thing for years.
Looks like he did a great job though and started something worthwhile which has been left as his legacy.
Sounds like he would have liked that too, plenty of people live for ages and leave nothing of note behind that lives on.
You are correct, if you are up in the grandstand part of The Duchess Stand you can see the end of the races. However, if you have waited so long in the parade ring to see any horses then by the time you attempt to get into the Duchess Stand it is so crowded (also due to the rain) that you have to watch from the lower steps or the lawn, from which viewing is very poor.
I disagree about the parade ring though, as I mentioned a great part of it is taken up by this roped off section for mythical ‘VIPs’ which is empty of them, and the part of it near to the statue of Generous, on the lawn which is less crowded is only for annual members, or those with day badges for the Queen’s Stand and if you are a male, wearing top hat and tails.
I was a member of Epsom the year Galileo won, I was also a member of the Epsom Racing Club and did not find that the course management were supportive of either. That was Stephen Wallis who is now at Newmarket so perhaps new management are better. He seemed only interested in corporate and annual members got nearly as little for their money as the public did. Most of the Queens Stand became turned over to corporate and annual members were given a tent on the lawn across from the winning post. Once I left Epsom and became an ordinary member of the public with a husband who did not wish to dress up in the heat, we found that the course did not really cater for the general public either. Especially the year they were under refurbishment when it was not only ugly, but hard to get about, and no money was taken off admittance. Poor show.
I do agree that the Derby is an experience and one not to be missed in your life. I just think it is sad that Epsom, and the Derby are not what they once were. Masses of history there – and I love that.
I recommend that everyone go at least once, and if you get lucky and find a good vantage point perhaps you would return.
I’m going tomorrow, so although I continue not to particularly like the course, the horses are top calibre and that will make me attend.
Jim rode for us a few years back, both on the flat and over hurdles on a difficult horse. He was not only a good rider, but also took a lot of time over our naughty boy, and talking to us about him afterwards.
I’m very pleased that he is having some success, he deserves it, has worked very hard and is humble about his talents.
Thanks Jeremy. I did not know about his connection to Hackwood.
Do you know if his son might carry on with their yard? I don’t know his name but met him a couple of times and he seemed to be involved.
Thanks, will look out for these.
The Galileo 2nd was called Treasure Beach.
The second home to Long Hunter, Treasure Beach, started 5/2 favourite due to looking like Ballydoyle first string with Murtagh onboard. Looks one to follow in future as was not given a hard race, never hit at all and only beaten 4 lengths. Will be most interesting to see where he goes next.
Nicely bred, by Galileo out of a Mark of Esteem mare, hence the Darshaan line.
There had been a big talk beforehand about Long Hunter who connections think is the best 2 year old in Ireland this season. We will see I guess!
