Yes,whenever the Derby meet approaches I always think of Craig and what he did for so many of us on so many different levels.

June 3, 2010 at 07:42 #298328It seems incredible that it has been four years.
I was just thinking the other day of our TRF poker games and how he used to call me ‘The Bank of Daylight’ after taking yet another all-in off me. I rarely make a decision regarding the forum without considering, in my mind, what DL would have thought of it.
Very best wishes to Debs and Luke, chin to the wind Debs.
June 3, 2010 at 09:21 #2983394 years – wow
June 3, 2010 at 10:13 #298347I certainly echo those sentiments. Best wishes to Debs and Luke.

June 3, 2010 at 11:32 #298363I was often at war with Daylight
but yes in the end it was a friendly
Dad’s Army sort of war and we crossed
the battlefield and often met in the
middle for a guffaw.I never met him but sometimes
these parallel universes can reveal
more than life itself and I spent hours
dissecting and checking his posts
and felt I knew him better than
many I knew in real life.
That’s why his death hit me
like a ton of bricks.I would rather cruelly be looking out for
inconsitstencies and times he might
have contradicted himself. When I thought I had him once
he shouted foul and used the term
selective editing and threatened
the knife on me. I used to enjoy
winding him and Kathy up, but I
think he appreciated
there was no malice in it.I certainly miss
those confrontations,
although they were very much
on the wane the months before he died.
More importantly his personality
is still ingrained in hereI did personally think the poker
was a bit much for him to take on
but it is what he enjoyed
and a good addition to the site.Yes the time has flown by
and the Derby does focus the mind.Hoping all is well
for Debs and LukeJune 3, 2010 at 16:39 #298441I never knew Craig, was before my racing forum participation time. I’m a bit of a loner really and just did my own thing for years.
Looks like he did a great job though and started something worthwhile which has been left as his legacy.
Sounds like he would have liked that too, plenty of people live for ages and leave nothing of note behind that lives on.
June 3, 2010 at 18:49 #298466A lovely man who was passionate about this place and his racing. I met him through the syndicate horses a few times and it was a pleasure to know him. Hard to believe it is four years though, my regards and thoughts go out to his family.

June 3, 2012 at 07:47 #21920I’m sure to many of us the Derby will forever be tinged with the memory of Craig Mitchell’s tragic death six years ago today.
My thoughts and best wishes are with Debs and Luke on this sad anniversary.
June 3, 2012 at 07:55 #406554Same here Burroughhill.
