An absolutely horrendous fall, again a rotational at high speed, obviously instantly fatal. Is there no end to these at present?
Thanks to you both for the swift responses. These two had just stuck in my mind and I couldn’t find any information myself.
Sorry Honeysdad can’t agree with your sentiments on this occasion. Was intrigued to know what piece of social research you have stumbled across that links the views expressed here with living in council flats…
Sadly, there have been quite a few of those over the past few weeks.
I feared as much, but thanks for the confirmation.
Just caught the replay – saddest thing I’ve seen for a while I have to say. RIP
You can tweet the horse(!) socceramhorse I believe. He’s fine, just a bit sore.
If your comments are for real, and not just made to get a reaction (such as mine now), you are one sad individual. I’m not sure why your presence is tolerated on this site – you bring nothing positive to it at all.
Sorry, I didn’t make it clear that Celtic Folklore had been running in another race – apologies for the ambiguity of my previous post.
I thought the horses were all OK and that the fence had been dolled off because it had been trashed or because a jockey was being attended to. Perhaps I’d better have another look at the replay.
I believe the two casualties were Gamede and Celtic Folklore
He’s apparently fine. Todeay’s ATR home page has an article by his trainer about where to take him next.
Hope I haven’t screwed up your system!
Was trying to post a message to say that, according to Kim Bailey’s blog, Darna is still with us. Appears he may have knocked a nerve but he trotted up sound the next dauy.
Think he’s probably OK. The following link gives a little more detail:
He fell when well in the lead and the race apparenly his for the taking and it didn’t seem that bad a fall at first sight but he couldn’t get up and I’m guessing it might have been his shoulder. Have to say I haven’t had the heart to watch it again. Perhaps someone else will post….
And another potential casualty – Charger, who fell at the 3rd in the 14.55?
McCoy was up straight away and the horse, having fallen again at the third, seemed to be OK when the field went past him as he was standing to one side of the track and was starting to fidget as he saw the other runners go past. Fingers crossed for him….
I did feel sorry for the jockey too, who must be reliving those few moments I should think. He was obviously trying to pull up but the horse was just too unbalanced to do anything but carry on. I am amazed he stayed on his feet.
