Kauto Star. His recent performances speak for themselves.
Paul Nicholls
Ruby Walsh.
Poster. APracing. Alan’s contributions are always well informed and full of insight. But for obvious reasons Cormack should take the plaudits.
I have been impressed with both MWDS and Fair Along. But don’t rule out Lennon. His jumping at Aintree was very impressive. At 14-1 he looks great value.
great shame. But great memories of his stayers’ hurdle victory to cherish.
I have to say I am lost for words.
My condolences to his wife and family. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I didn’t even know his name, but in a funny sort of way I had an idea of what he was like. I am sure he was a great, caring, loving husband.
He will be also be sadly missed by all of us here.
Agree, about Temoin. He looks to have been saved for this meeting.
Specialising is the key. I stick to jumps and political betting. Politics if you follow the twists and turns, can be a good money spinner eg David cameron and Ming Campbell leadership elections, and the recent Lib Dem by-election victory.
Watching racing without having a bet is vital.
On the jumps I found the Irish racing on ATR enabled me to have a succesful Cheltenham with WOA and Nicanor.
Glad he finished safe and well. Ccouldn’t agree more, needs the V Williams regime. Then he could be very usefull.
Johnson horses are in a separate section of the yrad, The other horses ran well at chelt until end of race, but failed to show promise at finish. anyone who backs a pipe horse is mad. Would Basilea Star still be alive if he had been
withdrawwn, on the basis, of previous stable form?
sean, i agree. ColinJ can only improve. the 11/8 at corals will not be there for long.
Good to see Sean back in action.
On a completely different tack, Sean, are you booked in to do the strictly coming dancing gig on the bbc next month?. If you are, please post your thoughts on the field. I’ve found this a very profitable market during the past two series. For those who scoff, I would recommend you follow Sean’s thoughts. He was spot on last time.
The horse isn’t s…..! OK he will have to improve his jumping, but I think that’s possible. I saw his first run over hurdles and dismissed him as not good enough.
IG don’ t take criticism personally. I like, most others, I am very excited by the return of such a great horse.I hope your dreams work out.
I remember his first appearance over hurdles. He jumped poorly that day, but improved with time. I think he will come on for the run. But beating sweet diversion (8lbs worse off) by four lengths puts it into context.
I suspect the jumping will improve over time and a more galloping course where stamina will benefit him.
With BG set to ride Kicking King, who will get the ride on IG this season. Presumably JP will claim McCoy for whatever hrose he acquires to run in the Gold Cup.
I can’t wait to IG reappear. If he’s sound, he’ll be a fantastic prospect — capable of a tilt at the GCup in March, unless the Sun Alliance is on the agenda. But I suspect that if the two early season runs go well, it will be too dificult to resist the lure of the big one.
Sad news. My sincere condolences to his family. Great poster, whose views were always well well worth a read. Will be sadly missed.
Tooting, I can’t believe we’re discussing this. But I have always maintained that novelty bets often offer great value for peope like us cos we often know a bit more than the compilers.
To be fair to Sean, if you’d been watching early on it was clear Ms Halfpenny was good value at 7s and even when she was on 5s. I took the 5 and had some 3s as well.
Not counting my dough yet because she could still get injured.
But barring injury she’s a certainty.
no difference at all. NH racing is a business. The tosh spouted at Cheltenham on Friday was too awful for words.
