Cormack, Ouija was the one that came into my head first as well, remember she did actually beat North Light by a length and a half in that year’s Arc. It’s definitely the best shout from recent times anyway.

A great performance by Rags To Riches last night particularly given the way she lost ground at the start by fiercely nodding coming out of the stalls.
I was at Ripon yesterday, the horse itself looks fantastic he is enormous and very imposing.
On the track itself he is a different story, ‘quirky’ as someone put below is probably the correct word and he was given a big scare by Fantastic Morning in the final furlong. He is entered in the King Edward at Royal Ascot and needs to improve tremendously.

Absolutely none as far as I’m aware – very strange (and stingy) – probably as Dettori was on-board the favourite and they kept it odds-against all afternoon.
Makes you feel so sorry for them doesn’t it..

Not sure about any details yet about the full brother but he’s got a half brother by Fasliyev called Empowered (also with Peter Chapple-Hyam)

Quote: from andyod on 1:53 am on June 1, 2007[br]After Frankie won the Saint Leger for OBrien his boss refused to allow him ride for Ballydoyle "ever again" even when he was free to take the ride.
Why was this, do we know?

Trust it to be the Daily Mail stirring things up though, one of the Ballydoyle horses will be an illegal immigrant ringer Street Sense that won the Kentucky Derby next..
Apparently ‘Racegoers carrying glasses of beer hurled abuse at Philip Robinson as he laid motionless on the turf following his fall from the ill-fated Sky More at Pontefract on Friday night.’

No this wasn’t reported in the Daily Mail but was mentioned in today’s Racing Post.
And they are scheduling MORE evening racing for 2008?! :o

I’ve only been going to the courses for the last six or so years. Have these morons always been there?!

Probably to do with the times of year War Admiral, as was mentioned above Worcester is one of the exceptions but even then it’s mainly the ‘Summer evening meetings’ that turn into the yobfests.
It’s often said that the end of the football season often signals when the arrests at the racecourses begin in numbers and I can certainly believe that to an extent (funny how the word ‘football’ is often involved when talking about the problem?!) I don’t know if I’ve been lucky but I’ve gone to the Cheltenham Festival twice in the last few years and yes there were people there who had obviously drunk so much they could barely stand up but there was nothing like the loutish behaviour I’ve seen when I’ve been to John Smith’s Cup Day at York (vile atmosphere which is a shame as the card is usually a good one) and a Saturday at Ripon last year which I assumed at the time was having an episode of the Channel 4 show Shameless filmed there and I witnessed first-hand some idiot throw his plastic glass of beer at a horse as it trailed home at the rear of the field (he was quickly removed by the stewards) – both incidents happened in the Summer and I’ve been to lots of meetings in the Winter (mainly jumps meetings) and not seen anything like the above.

You get the dickheads at any sporting event but sadly I really do think they are on the increase in the Sport Of Kings. As I said in the first post I’ll be amazed if an incident of this nature at York this Summer doesn’t make the headlines in the RP.

Really nothing that hasn’t already been said,

A very eventful season which bodes very well for the next few years. Paul Nicholls has ruled the roost and not a Saturday seemed to go by from November to March without him winning one of the big races. Kauto Star was undoubtedly the star and his only blip in the closing stages of the Aon Chase at Newbury almost seems like part of an intentional twist in his awesome campaign – he looks very much the one to beat in next year’s already awesome looking Gold Cup picture with stablemates Denman, the improving Neptune Collonges, Alan King’s My Way De Solzen and Exotic Dancer who will no doubt be back for another crack.
Katchit set a recent unprecedented benchmark over Two miles and I think this year’s Triumph Hurdle looks very strong and will throw up a lot of future group horses – Punjabi, who has an almost identical profile to Katchit in that he struggled on the flat but looks an absolute natural over hurdles, will have a very strong 2007/08 campaign in my opinion!
The bookies seem to have been coining it in at Punchestown this week, I’m the same as Sir Harry and I’d had a feeling since this morning that Refinement would place at least – thought nothing of having a bet in it though as I imagined it to be backed and go off at 8s 9/1 at most, I spat out my tea when I’d noticed it had come in at 16/1 – why do I never have my afternoon in the bookies’ at the right time!
Then again on the same line I wouldn’t have backed STD (fnarr fnarr) with someone elses’ money at whatever the price so that just went to show how strange the form and results have worked out this week..

I always thought there was a niche in the market for a monthly horse racing magazine but it probably wouldn’t last long in this day and age. Inside Edge used to be pretty good with their coverage and I cancelled my subscription when it went ‘all poker’ as I imagine a lot of others did as well.

If anyone else knows of any than yes I’d like to know too!

Wolverhampton Placepot – hopefully I’ll do better than yesterday where I got just one placed out of six at Kelso – my worst showing in the placepot ever. They were freak results though and just 1.50 tickets got a dividend of £35,000 (!!) I don’t think I’ve ever seen a higher pay-out.

    1:40 – 1 – Hollywood George
2:10 – 10 – Mulberry Lad
2:45 – 9 – Danetime Cord
3:20 – 7 – Intricate Web
3:55 – 9 – Qaasi
4:30 – 1 – Boscobel

Good luck to everyone having a bet today!
I hope nobody had my Placepot selections! It’s my worst showing of the year so far – up to race 4 at Kelso and I’m yet to have any of my selections placed – the J Howard Johnson odds-on flop in the first race is the stuff of bookies’ dreams. It’ll be close to a grand pay-out per pound return I reckon this afternoon.

UPDATE: Managed to get at least one up – Pee Jay’s Dream – 5/1 winner. My fourth leg was the Nicky Richards horse put down though! :o

Better hide mine in the Corby trouser press this year. That’s if they have one in the Gloucester South Travel Tavern (room 129).
Or if Alan Partridge hasn’t been there before and taken it apart.
PR and nothing else that though it was horrible what happened to him last year – sadly it was bound to happen sooner or later.
