Actually, on Latin names I quite like Anderson as a first name, like Brazilian UFC star Anderson Silva.

Ive always thought Jason is one of those names for a boy that is absolutely neutral.

My middle name is alexander and have always liked that one as theres so many names that you can choose to abbreviate it too.

Get some Montreal Steak Seasoning (sometimes called Canadian steak seasoning). Cover a steak with it, stick it on the bbq and you will have an awesome steak. Have even eaten camel steaks this way and they were pretty good. Don’t know if you have to get it from the states, as it an american gave me it, but hopefully they sell it in british supermarkets too.

(Had always said I would never eat camel meat but Camel meat is often sold as beef in Saudi Arabian supermarket meat counters and you can tell as it is considerably tougher).

I would wait and see how the first races pan out in Chantilly because at present the ground is described as GOOD which in france could be anything from GD-FM to SOFT.

CAPE BLANCO obviously has a cracking chance if over his lameness at york.

If it was on the softer side though, I would really like to be on the Soumillon horse NO RISK AT ALL at 14-1.

And at 40-1 I quite like Shamalgan who was a decent finishing third in the Poulains and I think should like the extra trip.

Also worth noting that Lope De Vega has already emulated his sires win of the Poulains and his now trying to emulate his win in the Prix Jockey Club.

I wouldnt be rushing in just yet on anything as this could be a more interesting race than most people seem to be seeing it to be…

Trying to just say the best bred horse will win doesnt work. Most horses however IMO have a surface and a distance and to try to pick one for a distance and the surface, involves knowing the surface and picking horses who’s breeding suggests they should act on that surface.

If it is gd-fm I think Al Zir should go well enough on the surface if the pace is fast. If the ground is gd-fm however there is always the chance that they dont run the speedier sorts out of the race and that will bring azmeel into the Equation. Azmeel went best in the dee stakes in the last few furlongs where the ground was drying out and I suspect he could be the type to go well in a fast surface derby. Bullet Train and Workforce will also like it faster underfoot. Workforce however had everything up his street in the dante and was beaten, so how much he will come on for the experience is the question, but 6-1 seems plenty short enough on him IMO.

The rest I would expect will want good ground to get their toe in, to show their best, but unless they have watered overnight or rain has come, I would expect that AL ZIR, AZMEEL, BULLET TRAIN and WORKFORCE look to hold the advantage on the breeding side, and if the ground is still gd-fm, then I think it will take a classy performance from any of the remainder to beat all 4 of them.

PS. Quite like Dandy Nicholls Crimea in the Vodafone Dash also for a wee e/w shot at 40-1 if the ground is still fast.

    1ST WORKFORCE –

    Towards rear

, headway and 6th straight, ridden and good headway to chase clear leader over 3f out, closing 2f out, led over 1f out, soon clear and in command, stayed on well (op 13-2 tchd 7-1 and 8-1 in a place)

6TH AL ZIR – Slowly into stride, took keen hold and soon well in touch, 5th straight, soon driven and no progress, disputing modest 3rd from 3f out until no extra final furlong

10TH AZMEEL – Took keen hold, led for 1f, chased leaders after, 4th and ridden straight, soon struggling and beaten, no chance final 2f, well behind and eased inside final furlong, tailed off (op 12-1)

12TH BULLET TRAIN – Chased leaders, went 2nd 9f out, 2nd straight, soon ridden and struggling, weakened entering final 3f and well behind final 2f, eased inside final furlong, tailed off (op 7-1)

IMO in a race on gd-fm, in a time 4 secs fast Workforce was the only horse on his best conditions to be given a really good ride, and proved to be a class above. Thats not to say that he didnt deserve to win because quite clearly he did. IMO of the horses suited to a faster pace, Al Zir probably just got home from where he was ridden but just lacked the class in the last few furlongs. Azmeel was IMO a speed horse who should have come from the back to have any chance and has thrown away any chance by being at the front in such a race (but probably wouldnt have got home in any case). Bullet Train simply doesnt seem to have run any sort of race.

IMO Workforce is clearly a very good horse on these conditions regardless of whether everything fell perfect or not, and I definitely like the horse, but I am not going to get carried away. With any cut underfoot I think many of the cut horses could beat him. I would be looking at the irish derby with him in the hope that the ground is fast, and then perhaps the King George.

IMO what we have seen today is a horse who has had everything drop perfect (trip ground ride etc) destroying a field where most of the opposition didnt have things perfect, so the victory was all the more impressive to watch but not one to be followed too blindly next time, because I think he’s a solid group1 horse who has just had it easy tpoday. I would want him to have the same conditions next time up.

I think its premature to be looking at a coronation cup winner as an arc winner (a race he has already failed in) before we have even seen the Derby and more importantly the french derby tomorrow. Just a thought. The bookies can stick their 6-1, thats laughable, and could change considerably by the end of the weekend.

I cannot work out the ground as yet but reckon my bets will be…

    Gd-Fm (today again)

Azmeel 12-1 and Al Zir 18-1

    Good Ground

Co-ordinated Cut 25-1 and Al Zir at 18-1

Judging by the first few races it would appear that the ground may be gd-fm. I’ll go with Meeznah now defititely, but think she will want the pace to be strong to have a chance against some faster types. Will also go on gertrude bell.

However I think the leading chance is probably correctly held by aviate. If Jarvis’s horse has any potential she probably has everything in her favour to do something. With Ramoosh, Timepiece etc it’s a matter of whether they can stay but the ground is in their favour to do so, but hard to really pick past aviate at the prices of the gd-fm horses.

Jukebox Jury the choice for me at 14-1. Youmzain with Fallon on Board could go well with a prominent ride as he did against Soldier Of Fortune in France 2 years ago. But think with AOBs pace setters JJ could be a dangerous one.

With Meeznah being by Dynaformer, I would think she’d be best on a quicker surface, much like Dyna Waltz who I can only assume is being aimed at the Ribblesdale on that basis. If it was quicker ground I would definitely consider her a bet, but there are a few smart looking ones for those conditions.

I think the winner is Akdarena, however think Gertrude Bell could potentially cause an upset. Sinndar had a few good middle distance fillys roundabout 2005 or so. Shawanda, Pictavia (not quite as good but decent) and I did like the way this one held off her challengers at chester on gd-fm up the run in, so I think the main question is will she stay, but could be decent.

Hernando had Look here a few years ago win this (may be mistaken but think it was hernando) and the nijinsky line does fairly well over jumps with fillies (quevega obviously), especially on good ground. Bolger is a master with fillies, and this one is being well supported (obviously Jim would never be a man to bet). Looks the one to beat if vground is genuinely good.

Another point I have noted is that there has been a fair amount of e/w money for Barry Hills Champagne Lifestyle over since her defeat at chester, and that was a pretty decent run as she was always going to improve for 1m4f on good ground. Montjeu has still not had a a decent filly to speak of, which is a big negative but does have things in her favour here, as on a gd-ground oaks staying is very important, as his ability to handle gd ground.

Ceilidh House is a worry as Becket had Look here beaten at lingfield and she comes here looking a decent sort, but still think she had no excuses at lingfield and should have faired better if being up to this.

Cecil I think seemed to be winning everything in may by having everything tuned for a peak at that time, much as sir michael stoute was doing a few seasons ago, and as John Gosden has also done in recent aprils, however I dont think he has the oaks winner if the ground is good.

O’briens Cabaret would be interesting if she didnt scream pacemaker, however I cannot imagine that they will want to set up a blistering gallop for Remember When and so if it is sedate enough she could stay at the front longer than her price would indicate. Remember When should like good ground and obviously has a chance if staying.

Sajjhaa, Ramoush, Marie De Medici, Timepiece, and Meeznah want gd-fm or better to have a chance IMO. Possibly the same with Aviate. Snow Fairy I think probably wants 2 furlongs less and some cut.

None of this is any exact science but I think that on gd-ground Akdarena ticks every box, and gertrude bell is a danger.

Wish i wasnt writing from a mobile, but will remember him as an arrogant, dishonest, incompetant sherriff of nottingham who ruined a perfectly good country and brought the pound to its knees. Wouldnt lace thatchers boots IMO. Once again the tories have an uphill struggle. The minimum wage destroyed the jobcentre (made business out of finding even basic level employment) and is facile because it only created more sub minimum wage backhander wages in small businesses, largely filled with foreign nationals and those on the double. Treated the armed forces with absolute contempt in so many ways, but gave part of their tax back when in afghanistan and iraq, gee, thanks. Along with blair turned farming from a profitable industry to a heavily subsidised one. Treated the honest and willing 2 work british citizen like vermin, both as chancellor and pm. He and blair swamped the public sector with so many unnecessary middle managers providing less service for higher cost. Lied about the economy to hide his own failings and drove us into a horrific recession. I could go on but imo he is little more than a first world idi amin hellbent on holding on to the power to do whatever he wanted. I am not a spiteful person but i loath gordon brown and his whole party with every ounce of my being and pray that labour never spin their way back to power…

Couldnt have backed the winner if i read the form a million times but was happy with sent from heaven’s run, and i love 2 see a big priced winner. A bit gutted 4 jacqelines quests connections and backers thought she was the winner. The stewards dont reverse decisions like that any other time when the interference is much clearer. A move 2 keep the french happy perhaps…
