    (3:40) 112C Tattersalls Gold Cup (Group 1)
    €139,500.00 ( 1m 2f 110y – 4yo+ )[MAX 26]

    110-1 1 Chinese White (DKWeld) – (113)
2 Cutlass Bay (UAE) (SBSuroor (in GB)) –
    51-44 3 Dixie Music (APO’Brien) – (101)
    66-31 4 Fame And Glory (GB) (APO’Brien) – (128)
5 Glass Harmonium (SirMStoute (in GB)) –
    504/- 6 Halicarnassus (MRChannon (in GB)) –
    45-22 7 Recharge (KPrendergast) – (107)

Weld’s filly is an old favourite of mine but realistically she has it all to do to beat the buachaillí here. Presumably Dixie Music will have to go like sh1te off a shovel from the gate to try and set it up for Fame And Glory. Is the Godolphin horse more of a 1m2 specialist than F&G?

Desperately want to get this horrible slow boat beaten here and I’m convinced he will be beaten, except I’m not sure by what.

Cutlass Bay has been winning egg & spoon races in France run at walking pace. He got out of a tricky spot in the Ganay but I’m still unconvinced about him. Halling’s progeny are almost always 3 or 4lbs off Group 1 material – his only Group 1 victories have come in France too; in the Ganay (Cutlass Bay) and the Grand Prix de Paris last year (Cavalryman).

I really don’t think Chinese White is all too far behind Fame & Glory, if at all. She comfortably beat She’s Our Mark LTO giving away 2lbs who in turn beat Fame And Glory comfortably (admittedly circumstances apply) in that slightly-infamous Listed contest.

They’ll go hell for leather and I think Chinese White will just outdo F&G for pace.

Yeah there seems to be a general consensus that horses runs a lot better when they’re in foal. Have heard it on several occasions.

Fame and Glory will win this en-route to bigger things and only confirm what a joke of a performance it was when She"s our Mark beat him! Knit one pearl one Reet!

Aye, it looks the kind of desperate 10f gp1 FAG might just scrape home in – still wouldn’t make him a 10f horse though, TAPK.

    ps It’s

    Fame and Glory:

Tatt Gold Cup – To win running backwards

Coronation Cup – To outbattle sariska

Prince of Wales – Too hard to say atm.

Fame and glory and sariska, think is a good opportunity to have a nice S/F.

Stoute’s horse looks like he will improve as a four year old, F&G is not a Group 1 10f horse and will be found out on Sunday, Glass Harmonium is my selection.

This weekend will tell the story. Are the Ballydoyle horses up to snuff or not. Did SNA really flop in the Guineas or did he just not have the speed to win such a race.Is Steinbeck really the bird catcher he is supposed to be. Is JanVermeer better than Midas Touch? How good is Fencing Master? All to be answered on the weekend at the Curragh. Also how good are the 4yos from Ballydoyle? However upon reflection I suppose the first question won’t be answered until the Derby. Finally; is this post in the wrong place?

Here was have a clear example of confusion amongst the ranks!

One would think that in ‘Cutlass’ they would know what they have or could have?!

Does he have to run to know what his trip is or what his future targets should be? :|

    From earlier this week:

    FAME FACING TATTERSALLS TEST

By Nick Robson and Keith Hamer, Press Association Sport

Fame And Glory faces a "big test" in Sunday’s Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh, according to Aidan O’Brien.

Godolphin’s unbeaten Cutlass Bay, who was supplemented earlier in the week, are among those who could take him on.

Connections of Cutlass Bay feel he will have raise his game if he is to retain his unbeaten record on Sunday.

The four-year-old is bidding to stretch his 100% streak to six.

The Halling colt is already a Group One winner, having taken the Prix Ganay on his last start for French trainer Andre Fabre, but faces his toughest test to date.

"I think he’ll run really well. Obviously Fame And Glory is a better horse than the horses he’s been racing against leading up to this race, so more will be required from Cutlass Bay if he is to prevail," said Godolphin’s racing manager Simon Crisford.

"He’s in good form and he’s settled well into his Newmarket surroundings.

    Today from the same site:

    BIN SUROOR ON BAY WATCH

By Nick Robson, Press Association Sport

Saeed bin Suroor is looking for a positive performance from Cutlass Bay in the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh on Sunday as he attempts to map out the rest of his season.

The four-year-old colt only recently joined Bin Suroor from Andre Fabre in France where he was unbeaten in five starts.

The last of those victories came in the Prix Ganay at Longchamp – his first race at the highest level. He also holds entries in all the major mid-season races.

While Godolphin’s primary trainer has been pleased with what he has seen at home on the gallops, he accepts this is by far his toughest test against Irish Derby winner Fame And Glory.

"We’ve not had him too long and obviously he won his last race in France," said Bin Suroor.

"His last piece of work was very good, very good indeed, and he seems in good form.

"This is a tough race in Ireland but we need to see how he runs there and then we will decide where his future lies.

"He tries hard all the time – he is progressive – but he is racing against better horses than he ever has done before.

"Ahmed Ajtebi is riding him because Frankie (Dettori) is going over to France to ride Hibaayeb." – ???

Ahmed Ajtebi is riding him because Frankie (Dettori) is going over to France to ride Hibaayeb

Am absolutely flummoxed. Frankie’s choice makes no sense.

Really REALLY can’t have Fame and Glory at this level over 1m2f. He simply does not possess the tactical speed to be a star at anything short of 1m4f. In all honesty his breeding suggests that the Ascot Gold Cup would have been a better target this season. If he stays in training next term and can see him being the Ballydoyle cup horse………….

Never been a big fan of Fame and Glory but I’m a massive fan of Glass Harmonium but as he doesn’t go Fame and Glory wouldn’t have to start until the next day to beat the rest of them………..He must be all of a stone better than any of these and at 8/13 well worth the gamble he’ll turn up fit and well on the day…….got to be 1/3 on the day.

Think you maybe underestimating Cutlass Bay Fist. However, there are a number of negatives that others have already mentioned here. But I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see Cutlass put FAG in his place.

If you take form literal from last year – then it’s not the quality of ‘Cutlass’ that will be tested tomoz – but his ability to act on the going and to travel…

Rem: – ‘Bago’ was turned over in this race having shown earlier that he didn’t like to leave Longchamps!

I’m sure i’m in a minoroty of one here, but Recharge looks overpriced to me. G/F or better over 10f may well be his optimum conditions – and he is unexposed over these conditions.

F&G may well hack up – but this race can get strange ones turned over, and he may well be more of a staying type and get done for toe on Firm ground over 10f. The Godolphin horse could be anything, or could be massively under-priced as i suspect.

Will happily have an interest at over 40’s on the machine on Recharge.
