I saw Lone Survivor yesterday, I’d been looking forward to it for a while and it didn’t disappoint, it was brilliant.

Also saw The Wolf Of Wall Street recently, a good film I thought but could have done with being half an hour shorter imo.

These are the two outstanding films Ive seen in the past year or so.

The ones I would take out of the race are Cape Blanco and Youmzain. Youmzain hates quicker ground yet ran into 3rd and looks worth a bet in the arc once again. Cape Blanco was ridden too keenly yet ran a cracker, compared to workforce who had ground in his favour yet tired very easily up the run in. Harbinger had ground in his favour and got a perfect ride yesterday and threw in an incredible visual performance, but think on good or worse ground he’ll roll over easily enough in the arc.

Was happy enough with muller lifting the golden boot. Obviously not as happy about the dead heat payout but i’m sure thats the case with anyond who was on any of the 4. Think it went to the right player though as Muller achieved a lot more in less minutes played than the other 3. Some player.

I actually thought messi had a decent world cup without personally scoring himself. The team surrounding him always looked poor though. But think messi’s opening up of defenses, through the amount of players needed to neutralise him, made many of the players around him look better than they were. I think that the argie team without him wouldnt have warranted a price lower than 100-1 at the very least. Higuains goal in the 76th minute against South Korea, involved him getting the ball rolled to his foot 1 metre from the goal, with no-one in his way (including the keeper), on-side. How many players can create those sort of chances 4 team mates. Messi is used to being surrounded by class players so i think adapting to playing with an inferior team is a job in itself (dont think john terry really adapted to not having players of the class of carvalho or ferdinand playin next to him), but think messi convinced a lot of people that argentina were better than they were. Also thought he stayed very composed when greece tried to mark him out of the game and recurrently fouled him, which for a young guy is pretty commendable, rooney, by contrast looked like he wanted to kill people when slovenia done a good job of marking him. Think messi hasnt had a bad world cup as an individual player but needs to have a better team around him to make an impact at this level. Maybe next world cup perhaps, I mean Juan Sebastian Veron was getting 2 play a lot of the matches which tells me that maybe they need 2 bring up some younger players next time…

I know exactly the challenge u are talking about thm. And although that was as u stone wall penalty call, as u say, u’ll actually find that it was in the 2nd half, by which stage Ramos shouldnt have even been on the pitch and by which stage germany should already have had a penalty, would u not agree? The spanish did outpossess the germans, but so did argentina and germans still beat them 4-0. The two games were almost identical in that germany soaked up wave after of attacks, the only difference being that germanys counter attack without muller was virtually non existant.

I was refering to Paraguays perfectly good first half goal that got disallowed and shocked everyone with eyes, let alone a television showing a broadcast with replays. Then piques lack of a red card which even shocked the commentators and pundits. Then a blatant hand ball by the argentinian demaria, no whistle, blatant handball by messi. Muller catches a bit of the ball and gets a yellow to put him out of the semifinal, one of the most controversial calls in the world cup, but not with u. Then germany meet spain minus their star player, and bearing in mind that germany had went down 2 10men earlier in the tournament because klose had challenged from behind and not got the ball, Ramos gets none of the ball and puts in a malicious studs out very late "straight red" challenge on podolski. Not even a yellow, not even a free kick. Then Ramos, who should have been on at least a yellow, gets none of the ball when he brings down oezil in the box. No yellow, no penalty. Of course, your not biased Bb, u just missed all that. FWIW i dont think i’ve had any call to date 2 take u seriously or not in betting, maybe i’ve just missed ur flashes of genius. But genuinely hope ur bet comes in, because although I always go with the outsiders I usually dont mind them gettin beat, but when theyre not beaten on merit i thinks only natural to feel slightly aggreived. I dont agree that germany were outplayed y,day, but in mid field they definitely were and thats what cost the team as the midfields failure to attack or even hold the ball which put constant pressure on the defense, who actually did a sterling job to hold spain as long as they did. I also dont agree that Germany played negative as swienstieger played the ball forward to the front 3 on so many occasions, but there was no service for klose or podolski like there was in previous games. Thus I am of the opinion that mullers ban swung the result, and the failure of the ref to take any action against spain when they were out of line swung it even further.

If he places i’ll be happy but will jumping up and down 4 days. Was sat in a bar in boracay with a dutch man and a german guy and when i told the german i was thinking of backing klose 4 the golden boot, he wouldnt have any of it and told me muller was the one to be on. When i phoned my world cup bets in i just got one of those feelings that if i didnt back muller he’d go and do something. He was 80s and klore was 25s and that swung it 4 me. He may not even place but think he’s been the man of the world cup so far and its certainly been the most exciting 80-1 ive ever done.

Referees and fifa aside, think this has been my favorite world cup ever.

    How things change

Nothings changed though bb. Refs and fifa aside this has been my favorite. All 4 of my world cup bets have done me proud. Paraguay 66-1 and ghana 80-1 were cheated out of the semi finals. And germany 14-1 were the team of the world cup and after a string of biased ref and triumph were cheated out of a place in the final. Muller has obviously been hard done by but the 80-1 i got on him is now 12-1 and he has been the outstanding player of the tournament by a country mile. Different things appeal 2 different people but backing favorites and relying on them to scrape through games on unbelievaly biased reffing just isnt my cup of tea. Good luck with spain though.

The reffing has been disgusting so far. Attempted legbreakers are ok from ramos and no penalty for oezil being brought down in the box. Thought it would go this way tbh…

Perhaps there is a slight amount of pocket talking involved. Before the world cup began I done 4 bets. Germany 14-1, Ghana 80-1, Paraguay 66-1 and Thomas Muller for Golden Boot. Coming into the quarters all 4 bets were still going strong. After the qtarters Ghana were shafted by cheating, Paraguay were shafted by inexcusable bad reffing, Germany were placed at an extreme disadvantage in the semis by the singling out of muller, and the muller bet was disadvantaged by that same dubious decision. Then. Having 2 watch Paraguay go out to a team they should have beaten, Muller to be banned and Pique not to be, all in the same day was sickening. Obviously its my opinion, but do i think spain should be in the final? No. Do want 2 watch them in the final? No IMO they are just another team who have had chance after chance through bad reffing where other teams have been shafted. This World Cup has been a joke and i suppose its my inner sense of fair play that i want the best team to defeat the odds and defeat fifa who have made their task harder… Good luck with ur bets anyway bb…

I too will applaud germany if they beat spain 2nite as germany have unfairly lost their cest player and are thus unfairly having 2 play 2nd choice players against a spanish side probably shouldnt even be there and who have a key player there who shouldnt be (pique). Spain have been a big disappointment 2 watch the whole world cup, and have had a few officials who have kept them in it. Now they go into the semis with what i see as an unfair advantage in being able 2 field their first team when the germans cannot. Like I say, if they make the finals i have no interest in watching as IMO it wont be a meeting of the two best teams but who the refs have favoured and who they have not. I also dont agree that they have played fair. When under pressure their last 2 games weve seen foul after foul on ronaldo (none of which were awarded to portugal), diving from villa at one end of the pitch and pique trying 2 pull cordozas arm out of its socket at the other. Not a team who i think deserve 2 be in the final, just my opinion, the best result would be that holland put a team that shouldnt be there in their place, the worst result would put me of ever watching another world cup. The full strength german side would demolish spain as they have everyone in this world cup when theyve had the full strength team.

Hopefully Germany can come out on top. Obviously I wasn’t impressed by the sending off of Muller in the quarters, and even less impressed by the failure of the ref to send off Pique later that day. That IMO gives Spain more of a chance than they should have and Germany significantly less.

Much will depend on how Piotr Trochowski can slot into the Right Wing role, but think he scored 2 for Hamburg against Bayern Munich earlier in the season so may not be totally useless. Muller has been the man behind almost every german attack so far though.

Would absolutely hate to see spain make the final, after how the officiating has gone in their favour so far, and if it does end up that way, I probably wont even bother watching it as IMO spain entering tonights game (after Paraguays disallowed goal) with an advantage over germany which they shouldnt have, epitomises everything that has been wrong about this world cup, so will just be wanting holland to come out on top with little interest which way it goes.

It couldnt be ruled out TAPK, think the spanish have been given a chance by the quarter final officials, with their dubious yellow carding of muller 4 getting a bit of arm on a ball that came from messis forearm, and the failure 2 red card Pique for his blatant disregard of fair play against cordoza in the box. If spain have any chance of defeating this awesome german team its on these terms. However, from what i’ve seen, spain may still be overwhelmed by the remainder of the german side..
