Perhaps there is a slight amount of pocket talking involved. Before the world cup began I done 4 bets. Germany 14-1, Ghana 80-1, Paraguay 66-1 and Thomas Muller for Golden Boot. Coming into the quarters all 4 bets were still going strong. After the qtarters Ghana were shafted by cheating, Paraguay were shafted by inexcusable bad reffing, Germany were placed at an extreme disadvantage in the semis by the singling out of muller, and the muller bet was disadvantaged by that same dubious decision. Then. Having 2 watch Paraguay go out to a team they should have beaten, Muller to be banned and Pique not to be, all in the same day was sickening. Obviously its my opinion, but do i think spain should be in the final? No. Do want 2 watch them in the final? No IMO they are just another team who have had chance after chance through bad reffing where other teams have been shafted. This World Cup has been a joke and i suppose its my inner sense of fair play that i want the best team to defeat the odds and defeat fifa who have made their task harder… Good luck with ur bets anyway bb…
July 7, 2010 at 13:31 #305211Ooooh there"s a bit of Semi-final tension surfacing!
July 7, 2010 at 14:10 #305223Quite a few interesting opinions on this game. I haven’t seen all of the games but the Germans have been the most impressive in the tournament to date. Spain haven’t played that well, but they are still there and are the slight favourites.
Germany will certainly miss the sevices of Muller who along with Schweinsteiger, Ozil & Klose have all been excellent and they all play as a team & an organised unit.
If Spain win the midfield battle and Xavi & Iniesta are aloud to pass & dictate play, supply good ammunition to Villa and he gets shots on target then, I think Spain will win.
This is a really tough one to call, but I’ll stick with my original pick for the tournament Spain and think flair, will just narrowly beat organisation & by the odd goal.

July 7, 2010 at 17:05 #305263Think Germany have been flattered so far and I can see them struggling to score tonight although I’m not keen on the Spanish goalie, think he’s overrated, would also like to see Llorente up front for them, he did well when he came on in a match and he’s a good player but would still take the Spaniards to prevail.
July 7, 2010 at 17:21 #305269Just heard that Fernando Torres is out…
of the 6:20 at Kempton
July 7, 2010 at 17:42 #305273Though he is out of Germany v Spain also – only on the bench.
July 7, 2010 at 19:06 #305299Spain are trying to walk the ball into the net,as usual! Germany have started very slowly, absorbing the constant Spanish threat, both teams are quite capable of scoring, Germany on the break,Spain with constant bombarding! Very Chess like at the moment!
July 7, 2010 at 19:31 #305304The reffing has been disgusting so far. Attempted legbreakers are ok from ramos and no penalty for oezil being brought down in the box. Thought it would go this way tbh…
July 7, 2010 at 19:47 #305306If this is Germanys game plan, softly softly then pow! I dont know! Spain will eventually score if the Germans dont pick it up a gear! Risky business!
July 7, 2010 at 19:50 #305307The Spaniards are starting to turn the screw

Saw that coming! Shame it wasn"t Villa though.Germanys well oiled machine needs oiling big time! They have been playing for penaltys since the start!!!!!!!
July 7, 2010 at 20:19 #305310Absolutely delighted

Germany awful
from start to finish and…guess what…they were playing a proper team and not some gift horse of an outfit.
Deserved win, as predicted
July 7, 2010 at 20:23 #305311Having backed the Germans at 10s, I can’t have any complaints. Spain were abnormally good.
July 7, 2010 at 20:36 #305315It’s hard to admit, but a better – more clever – team won. Once more, in a decisive match the GER-team was unable to come back into the game when it was 0 – 1 behind.
Sorry.
July 7, 2010 at 20:51 #305318The team that WANTED to win won!Germany were so negative, they played as though they only had to turn up to win!Bitterly dissapointing performance from a German side capable of scoring goals, but then again you have to play in the opponents half to do that!!
July 7, 2010 at 20:53 #305319Now lads, you should have listened to Uncle Himself.

I more or less summed up how it would turn out.

Spain were simply better.

July 8, 2010 at 06:48 #305368No real surprise then, that flair won the day over organisation. Spain were just to good for a German side clearly missing Muller.
Germany tried to do what they did to England & Argentina & hit Spain on the counter attack, but unfortunately for them, the Spanianards have a decent defence and Puyol & Pique have a telepathic understanding.
It should be a good final with the two most creative sides in european football getting to the final. Both Holland & Spain play a similar kind of game, but Spain play it slightly better and I expect them to lift the World Cup on sunday evening.
