I subscribe to RUK purely to watch the racing, just as well really because all other stuff they offer is abysmal and way below the standard that ATR offer and in my opinion, :good: (all about opinions) they need a superstar like Matt Chappman who I think is a diamond to ‘entertain’ and not bore the viewer.

I subscribe to RUK purely to save me going to the shop to watch, they are way behind ATR for entertainment quality and when the programme is running the presenters just cant wait to pass over to each other and to top it then they go to the oncoming race with about 1 minute before with little or no chance to evalue the market, give me ATR free anytime.

I used to really like Bryan Cooper and followed his career but with the power of the O’Learys and desire for the best the I think Cooper is extremely vulnerable and not just for today.
Davy Russell v, Bryan Cooper and I know where my money would be.

A lovely outcome, she played it down but her father is terminally ill so just a great day for the family.

Ginge, you missed out the word ‘brave’ that backed against this machine and yes it’s a big result for them come early.

Feel bad for punters who’ve backed Faugheen, but it’s not exactly a bad result for most ante-post punters

This will have a long lasting damage to bookmakers with ante-post betting, so high profile that many youngish punters will remember this and steer well clear of shorties for a long time as did I with several not so high profile punts that never made the race.
One thing though, it will not put a dent in the odds of Mullins Inc. cleaning up come next month.

Not sure what revenue RUK rakes in and returns to racecourses and I’m no genius but if ‘all’ daily racing was televised free of charge then I think and believe the bookmakers would profit immensely.
I only bet when I can watch a race and although I do subscribe to RUK (I rate the ATR coverage and presenting far better), I’m sure many who do not subscribe would bet more frequently if they could watch their money running for them.
That’s assuming the bookies played their part and sponsored free to air and the racecourses accordingly.

My dream line up would be…..,anything without ‘Timeform’ Jim Mcgrath ( his ‘knowledge’ does nothing to promote Timeform)
then without Emma (‘are my eyelashes looking good ?, how about this scarf I’m wearing ?), Spencer and finally Mick Fitz. with that awful nasal voice of his, so irritating allied with his fancies that include E/W horses at 4/1 and under.
ATR for me has the best presenters and I do subscribe to RUK purely to see the daily racing, rant over. :bye:

RubEXL, sorry for clogging your thread here mate but Ferdy was doing just great here and as you say not at retirement age but went to France to do….nothing really, he had a few young promising riders coming through Tony Kelly who has never been given the opurtunities due to so many good young Northern riders.
He can’t just be sipping wine and eating baguettes over there, Wiki normally tells some sense but Ferdy ?
The Green and White of Hubbard, Cuddy Dale, Brandeston,…..forgive me reminiscing and i’ll get my coat.

It’s no worse now than it’s ever been, the alcoholic industry sponsors massively in our sport, Crabbies, Hennessey, John Smiths, Guinness, Budweisser, Fosters, Adnams and there is one brewery that pays Wincanton well for a big race that name escapes me amongst others.
Sorry like all sports, the alcohol industry funding sponsors prize money and it’s here to stay and I attend many meetings and see rowdy incidents but nothing you’d not see on any high st.

ExRL, oh wow this post of yours sent me back and got me checking the form of French Holly, I never got many nods about unraced NH horses back then but was told this one was special just before it’s bumper debut and it was special.
On checking this, on the same day James Reveley hit his 50 in France I couldn’t find what Ferdy has accomplished there since his relocation, Wiki has nothing.
I used to follow him since when he was asst.to Geoff Hubbard and totally forgot since he left and this post of yours got me remembering the old days.
Around the time Declan Murphy and Robbie supple rode them all, great memories for me but whatever has become of FM ?

Why Dave Nevison? I find him boring to listen to.

He always looks like he’d rather be somewhere else whilst reading out the monotone obvious changes on the exchanges that anyone interested with a computer can see without his ‘help’. :good:

I’ve watched all channels including RUK paid for for many years and am sure the quality has gone down gradually until now.
I think ATR is superb, all their presenters are fun and it’s my fav. whereas RUK and C4 are sadly lacking in many areas and I so agree with a previous poster that C4 seems to think it’s either a fashion show or a documentary at every meeting, Emma has 3 costume changes in 4 hours sometimes.
One guy on RUK who I really rate is David Cleary, he really knows his job but the rest..Nevison, Mellish, Hislop have landed plum jobs from us subscribers somehow, and that’s my 2 Bobsworth (a very good chaser if I remember that far back).
Was it Monica or Michael that trained him ? :good:

Great memories here, my first ever visit to Glorious Goodwood and Lester somehow got Darryl McCargue’s ride on Commanche Run and of course it won, bit mean on the American that and I think he went back home soon after but that was another superb Luca horse.

Nathan, I think SDS is the best around right now and why Godolphin binned him to me is a mystery, Sean Levy is a bookies dream riding for a top stable and Steve C., totally agree with you about the C4 team hamming up Humphrey Bogart, once ok but it went on and on and on……Cam Hardie is good but I’d like to see Christoph Soumillon come and ride here so if SDS is not signed for the Hannon machine then him.
