Am I the only one who likes the Nevison in the ring thing? It’s a bit of a new thing on RUK but I quite like it and I’d rather have him than Tanya or Tom “The most dull person on planet earth” Lee.

He’s no McCririck …………………… yet, but in terms of what he did Big Mac (acquired taste and all) is gonna take some equaling.

Don’t know about Tom Lee being the most dull, Nevison would be a strong contender. He’s dire and tells you little of interest. Should have paid McCririck a few quid to put a bit of life into proceedings.

100% spot on Tom Lee the most boring man on earth.

I saw Dave Nevison reporting from the betting ring at Perth recently and I wondered why he was there, he added little of interest except to say X horses were being backed but you could have told that from the betting. Not against the idea of replacing McCririck but not sure Nevision is the answer

Does RUK really need a betting ring pundit ? Just another person on the gravy train, they could get rid of most of the presenters and they wouldn’t be missed

The interesting question is where are the pctures coming from, because RUK don’t have camera positions that could provide those elevated shots of the betting ring. In fact, they have just one camera, which is used to show the presenters and, at some tracks, can be moved manually to provide shots from the parade ring.

So some sort of deal must have been done with the main picture providers who cover the races (e.g. SIS, Racetech or whatever they’re called nowadays) – does anybody know if these shots are being offered as part of the TurfTV package and could be shown in the shops as well as on RUK.

It does look a bit like they’re trying to find something for Nevison to do because he’s under contract ( he probably isn’t, he’ll be freelance ?)

That ‘stats analysis’ he’s been doing for the last few months doesn’t work for me.

I can’t really see the point of market reporting…….everybody knows how the market is moving. The prices are on screen

I wish Nevison would go back to punting and do the Wednesday night Kempton shows again…….

He reminds me of Tanya. Both of them struggle to string together a coherent sentence. Personally, I think he is a waste of space in or out of the studio. Yes, they are desperately trying to justify his existence.

IMHO the man does nothing for racing. Just talks rot half the time. Unintersting and boring.
If I had insomnia I think I would invite him and James Willoghby around to read me a story. Both dull and boring I would be asleep in no time.

11/10, 6/4, 4/6 and 15/8 shots beaten and not one fav winning but Nevison had it down as a winning day for the punters

He seems to have an obsession with saying that the bookies have lost even if it isn’t true.

    Yep.

Beats me why anyone is wanted in the betting ring, nowadays it’s just the booking office for the exchanges

I subscribe to RUK purely to watch the racing, just as well really because all other stuff they offer is abysmal and way below the standard that ATR offer and in my opinion, :good: (all about opinions) they need a superstar like Matt Chappman who I think is a diamond to ‘entertain’ and not bore the viewer.

Ha ha, it’s a good gig if you can land on a job like that.

His eyes always look really sore to me, as if he supplements his RUK freelance income by letting Johnson & Johnson rub shampoo into them. Test bunnies in labs the country over feel his pain.

I’m not actually sure what the reports from the pitches have added to the coverage this week, to be honest, and like Yeats I don’t see quite where the evidence is to support the repeated assertions that the bookies have been on the ropes. No winning favourites on Wednesday, you’ll recall, including four defeated at odds of 15-8 or shorter (one odds on).

Don’t know about that but like Stevenson he comes up with some clueless stats. Today he stated that the Midlands Grand National was a bad race for favs as only 2 had won out of the last 10 runnings  How many was he expecting? The favs still produce a level stakes profit of £3.50 and the second fav has a profit of £12.50.

He also came out with some rubbish about horses over 11 stone in the race.

These people are supposed to be betting “experts” and regularly show themselves to be clueless and lazy, why isn’t a producer calling them to task?

Will be amazed if Stevenson keeps the job with ITV, it wont bode well for the coverage if she does. Needs to be someone who knows about betting, a Calvin or a Boyce.
