Detroit City has fallen out of love with the game. He needs a nice long break in the fields and he’ll come back better than ever next year.

Thanks Flash. I had it right off last year at Aintree, and am doing so this year aswell – so I have to admit that Aintree has a special place in my heart and I always enjoy it more. ;)

He’s been a horse I’ve noted for a while and I’d backed him Each-Way on that occasion, and I was looking on counting my money until he made that bad mistake. Ungaro is dangerous and ran a good race last time out at Cheltenham, and has proved he can race right handed and left handed with equal effect. Turko is another who is dangerous getting weight from all his other rivals, and his success here last time was impressive, however I’m going to stick with Aces Four.
Advice: 3pts Win – Aces Four

Despite plenty of top two-mile chasers winning this, Well Chief has raw speed and is one of the better horses we’ve seen in years over the minimum trip (potential wise), however I think Monet’s Garden if on song will be able to lower his colours in this race, and he will appreciate the conditions, as will Taranis who keeps on improving with every run.
Advice: 1.5pt Win – Monet’s Garden
World Hurdle winner Inglis Drever also takes to the field, as does runner up Mighty Man, third placed Blazing Bailey and a couple of others in Fire Dragon and Lough Derg. The race will be set up by Fire Dragon making the pace and he should set a decent enough clip on his favoured conditions. Inglis Drever looks to be better suited to a galloping track, so Aintree shouldn’t really play to his strengths. Mighty Man on the other hand has excellent course form (2 runs, 2 wins), and running so bravely last time up gets his favourite flat track here. Last year he won this very race comprehensively smashing My Way De Solzen (Previous World Hurdle winner). Black Jack Ketchum has a lot to prove to his loyal followers but I don’t think he’ll be able to beat Mighty Man tomorrow. Blazing Bailey looks just a class short of winning this, but he should run his usual race.
Advice: 2pts Win – Mighty Man
2:35 AintreeBETFAIR BOWL CHASE GRADE 2 (CLASS 1)
Decent field for this Grade 2 Event, and with Our Vic in the field, it’s sure to be a good race. Looked to be overly quirky when last seen in the Ryanair, seemingly tailed off for making a rejuvenated effort into the straight, he narrowly failed to pull back Taranis and secure the spoils. On that showing I’d be inclined to pass him over this time, until I can be sure about his attitude. Exotic Dancer seems to run best on galloping tracks, and his previous form at Aintree hasn’t really amounted to much. Not sure this will be ideal for him tomorrow and he looks too short at the prices. Turpin Green ran a massive race in the Gold Cup coming third after being regressive throughout the season, has good form and an excellent record at Aintree (3 runs, 2 wins, 1 second), not sure My Will will enjoy this surface tomorrow and he’s passed up – along with the others in favour of State Of Play, who will be fresher than them all having come back from a break when taking in the Gold Cup last time up. Ran a good race that day but faded badly when under pressure, and looks sure to come on for the run. Was seriously impressive when winning here last year, and despite having a bit to find at the weights is capable of showing that improvement now that the stable is back in form.
Advice: 1pt Win – State Of Play

I have to admit to investing rather heavily on Shirocco over the last few months. If this doesn’t win then the whole flat season has been a disaster for me.

I usually do much better on the level than over the sticks but this year (since around July) has been an absolute shambles. :(

Which is why I’m saying – roll on the jumps!;)
