The Rolling Multiple
as I am now going to refer to this bet and not The Rolling Yankee as so painstakingly explained by
Formath
.
Having already reduced the stakes by half I now have the
Joy
of two winners on the bounce which is a position I am not comfortable with. I have become a good loser with many years practice and have little experience of being a good winner. I now find I should have rolled my first winning stake from £4 to £8 but instead decided to play £6 keeping a further 2 x £6 for remaining bets.
My second leg has won thus increasing the pot to £28.50 and should play £14.25 each for the remaining two bets and so I am becoming
Stressed
at my own inability to do so. As said earlier I am only a very small player with ew doubles rarely exceeding a pound and become uncomfortable with larger stakes, even if some still think them small and pitiful.
My pot has grown to £28.50 but I must apologise to
Formath
because I am unable to continue as tutored and stake £14.25 on the 3rd selection.
After much thought I will keep to £6 each for the next 2 sequence bets making them
Rolling Doubles.
And now for the
Frustration
being so close to pulling off the
3 vs The Field
but at least I may be closer to picking 2 races from all available on the day which has been "bugging" me. I will stick to those with all 3 selections being favoured by the tipsters and ratings providing they are priced at 5/2 the fav.
Was it not Pompete who said something like the paydays are worth waiting for, but I guess they are not like busses and come along in two, threes or fours at a time.

I knew I was wrong but hey sometimes it is good to "think outside the box" and guess doing what I have done has given myself an even spread with doubles.
Betting/ gambling, call it as you will for me has got to be about enjoyment (or call it fun), it has never been about a need to win although winning is the aim.
I have tried to adopt a professional approach but with small stakes it either can’t be done or is too frustrating for me and then again I have never been afraid to bend the rules a little bit.
3 vs The Field Now here is another bet where finding the correct 2 races to bet is proving a massive frustration and I guess "thinking outside the box" can be perhaps a way to reduce the numbers and so am trying something a little different today. I have looked for races with 8+ runners, so as to get 3 paying places, but am missing out the large fields altogether, ideally 9.10.11.12 (9 incase there is a non runner) and trying to find 2 races where all 3 selections are tipped in some way or another, either a direct tip or top of the ratings. As I am doing the Rolling Yankee with Sun & Mail these are the papers I am sticking with. Today I have managed 5 of the 6 and so it will be interesting to see just how they get on.
Hexham 3.50 Peter’s Star 2nd, Zafferetta WON 5/1[/color:13g1ppf6], Oscar Owen 6/1
Chepstow 4.10 Any Given Day 3rd, Classic Swain 2nd, Trenchant 6/1
All were taken as the first 3 in the betting from Odds Checker and were early prices, the risk with doing this is the first 3 may change.
OoooH! so close with a winner & 3rd in the first leg plus 2nd & 3rd in the second leg. Still 4 place double eases the pain.[/color:13g1ppf6][/size:13g1ppf6]

The Rolling Yankee
or perhaps I should rename it The Rolling Multiple because I am not sure my staking is as per quoted by
Formath
Still now that "the pot" is increased to £18.00 I will divide by 3 for the remaining sequence.
PEGASUS now has 2 on the bounce so let’s hope the run continues.

Glad you are still about
Formath
for just a liitle longer.
As you can see Pegasus’s selection had wings and thanks to Best Odds won at 5/2 and so my starting pot has grown from 8 to 18 with 3 bets still to run and I am still vague regarding how to go forward. I think I should divide by 2 and 2 again so the next stake should be 18 divide 2 = 9 and the remaining 9 again divided again by 2 so the final 2 bets should be 4.5 each.
Is this the correct method?
I love betting but always go wobbly with larger stakes than those I am comfortable with and 9 is making me go wobbly (if you understand me) and so have decided regardless of if right or wrong to divide my new pot of 18 by 3 and have equal amounts on the remaining bets, that is unless I have another winner.

Now that FORMATH has left here I shall be the sole custodian of the
ROLLING YANKEE
which so far is yet to break into profit.
I will be starting this sequence with the selections of the News of the World tipster PEGASUS and looking at the naps table he was sadly found in the lower regions. However his recent record of
W Nr L W
puts him firmly as HOTTER than my other 4 considerations, Goodfellow
LWLL
, Gimcrack
LWLNr
& Captain Heath
LWLL
of the Daily Mail and Tom Pepper
LLLL
of the Sun.
Being more moderate than FORMATH I will lower my stakes to
4 – 2 – 1 – 1
unless there is a winner along the way.

I am also on my final sequence bet: –
TACTICIAN 2,45 Newbury
Question: – win or lose is it a new sequence tomorrow?
Both 2vs The Field & 3 vs The Field failed yesterday but will press on and must say 3 vs The Field is my favourite and will be supporting 3.35 Wincanto & 4.45 Worcester with: –
Vial de Kerdec – Free World – Elijah’s Boy – Jackie’s Boy – Backfromthecongo – Good Harvest
9 x ew doubles.I will give 2 vs The Field another go with 3.35 Worcester – 4.05 Worcester – 5.00 Newbury: –
Vial de Kerdec – Free World – Huguenot – Wheelavit – Diktat Queen – Great Art
12 x ew doublesBilly's Outback Shack

….. and I am on NIMUE Kempton 6.20
Three vs The Field
I had quite a job reducing the number of races down but in the end went for the Clas 4 ones: –
Towcester 4.30 Daring Racer-Apache dawn- Flaming Cheek
Kempton 6.50 Racing Hero-Putra One-Woodlark Island9 ew doubles which paid well yesterday.
I found a
TWO vs The FIELD
system which is quick and easy if the dross is removed
Races min 8 & max 12 runners
1,2,3 in betting forecast, remove the one from 3 with the worst LTO figure. . . .
simple!
I have experimented today and have 3 races and staked as 12 ew doubles
Exeter 3.20 Little Shilling & Orchard King
Towcester 3.30 Pilgrims Lane & Agente Romano
Towcester 5.00 Avoine & Stick TogetherBilly's Outback Shack
Nice picks, well done.

Keep on digging them out Formath and we will keep reading them. Good luck with your bets today.
I had to find a way to bet 3 against the field so I paired up the two nursery races at Catterick (2.30 & 4.00) Love Match 5/2 – Oondiri 5/1 – Night trade 5/1 // Unshakeable Will 4/1 – Pepper Lane – Bahraj 6/1
Night Trade Won & Love Match 2nd[/color:2jfa5cqz][/size:2jfa5cqz] coupled with Bahraj won and Unshakeable Will 2nd[/color:2jfa5cqz]
then I matched the other two (4.30 & 5.00)
Goldan Jess 4/1 – Mystified 9/2 – Ishesmart 5/1 // Simple Jim 7/2 – Parks Prodigy 9/2 – Jackday 9/2
Gordan Jess 2nd & Ishesmart 3rd coupled with Parks Prodigy 2nd & Jackday Won[/color:2jfa5cqz]
And so quite a good day

Hello
Kitesurferdel
Big Bucks, I hope it goes well for you and will be interested to watch.
The staking sounds interesting, the good thing is you can vary stakes on the exchanges and guess the place percentage is your safety net.
Good luck.

‘morning
Formath
My selection via Captain Heath is: –
3.10 Leicester AL GHAZAL but only if I can get a descent price (against) and your one looks to be just as short.
3 against the field
The morning paper suggested 8 races but a quick look at "Odds Checker" has knocked the 2 Folkestone races out but still leaving 6 and I cannot see what to do other than pass for today. . . .
unless you know better!
Billy's Outback Shack
Well
Formath
I could not resist a small punt and although I could not find a winner from any of the four races I can see this may have some "legs".
I split the four races into 2 sections – Handicap and Non handicap resulting in one place double for the non handicappers and 3 place doubles for the handicappers.
What a result it would be to get all 9 bets in!
I lost overall but not a disaster and will try again tomorrow if the ground does not go against us and will give a little more thought to it should there be more than two races as per today.
Shibham sadly was 2nd and at 7/1 that was tough for you.
Sydney Melbourne, I took early price at 6/1 and thought I would play safe and go e/w but still no good.
Fingers crossed for us both tomorrow.

Shame this a good thread passing quiety away ! ! !
I have today imposed 5 absolute conditions to todays racing which are: –
1) Races of 10 runners maximum
2) Placed 1/2/3/4 LTO
3) "C" winner
4) "D" winner
5) 1 . 2 .3 in betting forecast (sadly I used the Mail
Two selections: –
4.50 Warwick Cheam Forever
5.00 Windsor Non DomAt available prices 7/1 & 6/1 would ice the cake with a nice ew double

Formath
,
I got my knickers in a twist again getting too excited but of course you cannot select 3 different layers but at least you can go with the one offering the best odds.
I have looked at Odds Checker and as always eality differs from the guesswork of forecasts. I have found 4 such races (there was 5 but 4 were handicaps offering 1/4 odds): –
2.30 Windsor fav 5/1
3.30 Windsor fav 11/4
2.50 Warwick fav 4/1
4.40 Pontefract fav 5/2These are early odds and can change but the logic remains as 5/2 being the shortest at any given time.
I was going to punt my "sixpences" but am know left dithering and so will wait for a day when there are only two such races or until a reduction method is found prcticle such as the races with the fewest runners or taking the two with either the biggest or lowest priced favourite etc.

Formath
,
This thread is for me just getting better and better.
I believe the true aficionado of betting could easily frown upon such ideas but you only have to go to any horse race meeting to witness a full cross section of society and therefore believe is a place for us all.
I will do my best to try and watch your latest suggestion, I always think you quickly get a feel for such bets and/or selections as to if it suits your own style. The big advantage we have today over those in the sixties is we can place 3 such bets with 3 different layers picking thge best available odds.
I am ending my Goodfellow sequence today with JUST LILLE 3.40 Pontefract, small odds of 6/4 but is closes the sequence.
I am going to try my idea of a combined list vs yours of the Daily Mail just to see how it gets on and will try to post them each day for a period.
My combined list is: –
Goodfellow – Gimcrack – Captain Heath – Tom Pepper (Sun) – Pegasus (N.O.W/Sun)
I start today with The Captain, in truth it should have been Gimcrack but there was so little between them I switched just to be competitive.
SYDNEY MELBOURNE 4.20 Warwick
I have picked 2 from the
Artemis
suggestion which are Kenyan Cat 4.20 Warwick & Non Dom 5.00 Windsor and combined them with 2 from the idea via
Mulls74
Bel Cantor 2.20 Warwick & Bush Master 4.00 Windsor as 6 small e/w doubles
