Mubakker – LAST!
I did not expect that.

Details at the other place Nathan.

Nathan asks “Have I always banged in winners or the girls in the betting shops?”
No, not at all Nathan.
I came to racing late, approx. in the early 1990’s and never was and never will be much of a punter. I never had anyone to guide me and may explain the easy route and interest of systems. I have picked up values (as suggested in the first post) from some good people within places such as this, they have helped and in return I have tried to do likewise and avoid the idiots as I see them.
There are no secrets within betting on the horses, it has all been done before but sometimes we get a little bit lucky.
Indeed Nathan I am pleased domestic (flat) racing is back and confess I am rather enjoying the new format and who knows we might make a pound or two.
Australia is now in it’s Winter period and although it has kept me going I confess mostly the current stuff is very ordinary dross which makes our stuff feel very good indeed but I shall return “Down Under” rather than face our Winter racing.
I was searching for something now that we have a few weeks of racing behind us and stumbled upon an old email circa 2013 which looked of interest, time will tell.

A test so soon this Saturday which has produced 4 qualifiers: –
Newcastle
12.15 – Tilsit
2.25 – Magical Spirit
Lingfield
5.55 – Healing PowerI only want just one per day at best and so I have plumped for: –
MUBAKKER – 4.25 Newcastle. Boosted by Wm. Hill to 2.69/1

Now! That is a good start but R4 took a little bit from the profit.
NAPPING – WON 1/1

Chestnut includes Richard Laws in his list of three.
I have Gimcrack by R. Laws but it is said there is another The Syndicate Manager.
I remain unsure if I enjoyed Gimcrack or not. It has the feel of a self published but says it is published by Five Furlongs.
Overall I would say it was amateurish but as a Christmas freebie it then becomes ok but I am sure Enid Blyton would have done better.

Golden Rule Number 1 . . . . it’s never a good idea to chase losses.

Following a run of good results from my revised plan I thought I would show the membership how clever I was.
On reflection that was a pretty conceited posting and deserved the results of each being a loser and dented the profit I was gloating about.
HUMBLE PIE and without doubt a huge one at that and I must eat it all.

Sunday in Australia.
There is quite a mixed bag of choices each with different claims but this list provides a selection for consideration suitable for individual preference.
Beaudesert R5 HARD LABOUR a short priced favourite which was 6/4 earlier today.
Bunbury R6 ANGELIQUE’S FLAME, considered in some quarters as the Bet of the Day at 5/2
Bairnsdale R1 RAYSIM a good favourite and a market mover at 19/10
Dubbo R8 MAROKAWA provides the opportunity for those wanting a reasonable price to place at 1.83
Sapphire Coast R4 RUBAIYA was 6/5 fav. but has since shortened to 10/11

As the season in Australia is starting to wind down my form collapsed in much about the same way as it did last year but that was fine because Australia was always and only intended to replace the NH as I do not enjoy the English winter racing conditions.
As we are all aware this year is different.
I have had to reinvent my approach so that I have been able to continue the enjoyment I have had all winter long but with all changes comes risk and so I have made a reduction in my already small stakes so that only minor damage would be inflicted on me should it all go horribly wrong.
Saturday in Australia is much the same as our domestic racing, it always feels to me much more competitive and so I am being very cautious indeed because I do not want to wreck what has been a very good week indeed. My good week would not get me on a ferry to the Isle of White let alone a cruise round the Med.
With all this in mind it could be only worth watching the result despite my risking a little of this week’s pocket money.
Morphetville Race 5 (5.36 am) SEABROOK at 100/30 or 1.83 to place with bet365. . . 2nd
I was all over MISS FROST Race 2 at Ascot until I saw the price of 1/2 and knowing I have had a bad run with such short priced favourites it was easy to avoid risking what little I have left in the bank. How right I was to give this one a miss, yet again the short priced fav. is turned over!

One for FinalFurlong91.
This site looks to cover the eastern side of Australia and therefore should give you a good insight to what is going on in Sydney: –
Good luck.

I have heard back from MrE who has asked me to pass on his regards to one and all.
He is currently enjoying a hot streak with the Australian greyhounds, 9 winners on the bounce, what a man, especially when you think they have 10 dogs in a race.
Stay safe.

Sad news I am afraid.
I have just read at another place our friend Purwell aka ferdy has been diagnosed with Leukaemia and in his post of 3 weeks previous he says he does not expect to see another horse race.

Perhaps not the best time to expect 100’s of replies oliasofsunhillow when we are all in lock-down and I simply do not have a clue.
Are they not the same but with different names?

First off let me direct FF91 to a couple of sites which may be too late but better than never: –
racenet.com.au
justhorseracing.com.au
I do hope they may help in the future.
Indeed Nathan, I have been keeping my head down and trying to dodge Covid19 and with so little of interest for me in the racing world this is the first time I have visited here for a while.
I remain in touch with MrE who is doing ok. We are rather opposed regarding our Australian views but I can say he tells me he remains in profit.
This time last year I had ceased my Australian adventure for two reasons. It was always intended as a good ground replacement for our domestic NH racing and as our Flat started to get into swing the Australian scene entered it’s Autumnal period and my positive results fell away. It was for me a case of, job done!
It has not been so this year and despite working changed ideas my results fell away. I changed my approach and in fact I am experimenting yet again and have fingers crossed but certainly I have nothing worth posting. I do believe with the Australian Autumn there as here some horses are put away and others come back to the track and these changes bring about some surprising results and I have been amazed by how many good things have turned out not to be such a good thing.
Variance is what MrE calls it, we have different views but but is that not great? We continue to do our best but his best is better than mine.
Take care and look after yourself and those you love.
Bill
