I find it a little hard to see how Paul Nicholls can say after the gold cup that Denman is finished for the season yet poor old Kauto Star has to carry on to Aintree and is still entered up for other races.
Yes I have heard the arguments about not wrapping up horses up in cotton wool and that KS didnt leave his race behind at Cheltenham when he ran at Aintree but why should Denman be given a break and not KS ?
There are races that Denman could have been entered up for and he has had nowhere near the amount of races that KS has had over the years so what is the factor that says Denman is exempt from further duties ?
I know that it would never be admitted by the trainer but my own view is simply that Denmans co-owner Paul Barber is more than happy to respect the long term interests of Denman than that of Kauto Stars owner.

just got home from work and was so pleased to see what others have said about Christian Williams..I thought I was hallucinating when I was listening to him.!!
I always enjoy actually seeing what a jockey actually looks like..a bit like talking to someone who you speak to on the phone regularly and then finally seeing them in person…but he reminded me of those vultures in Jungle book who sing "we re your friends" and till I die I dont imagine I will hear a more boring voice…shame because I think hes a great jockey.!!!

found it a profitable tactic to back richard hughes on a strong favourite before the off and lay him immediatelyfor a point less in running…works almost everytime

Wallace ..out of curiousity what was the case you mention please ?
I saw the Royal jet race live..with no financial interest…but I was watching Royal jet whom I have always thought of as being a classic " job horse".The amount of trouble that Egan managed to manouvre his mount into took my breath away and apart from the people who bet the horse it was frankly laughable.
Having said that I will hold my hands up and declare a longstanding distrust of the jockey !!

I think the Irish jockeys on the whole take no prisoners if the race is there to be won.
Sometimes the end result justifies the means and there are instances like Adrian Maguires gold cup win on Cool Ground where it was over 3 years before the horse ever won a race again.
However horse racing will and has to be competitive so i dont think we will see the end of the aggresive whip style.
memo to wayward lad..lighten up mate !

yes I think it is likely that Betfair will be getting some massive publicity because of their bonus on offer and the Tote can feel justifiably miffed if this does occur.
I think that Kauto..despite his immense talent..has used up a shedload of luck in staying on his feet in recent races and has to well worthy of being the banker lay at the festival.

well George has passed away…I had the privilege of seeing him play football in his prime and he was obviously world class.
Whilst not wanting to play the fuddy duddy here it seems such a shame that he seems to have been as self-destructive in his life as he was with his football talents.God bless George.

interesting thread this one..not sure that the acc usation of "pathetic prejudice" from AP was merited at all.
personally i think that an owner can -subject to weatherbys rules-call a horse what he wants.I can see the "when in rome" argument but as long as the good horses are running here rather than say in france its not really a problem what the name is to me.
finally i dont think that racing would die without the arab investments ..Coolmore are more than a match IMO and yes that Maktoum chappie is a miserable git!!
