11 live races today and only 1 ITV person on course. Poor effort.
Not being the biggest fan of ITV racing they do indeed give good coverage to some of the smaller tracks. Kelso for example had Adele um hmmm um Mulrennan on course as the days most valuable meeting, when the Peterborough Chase was supposedly the big race of the day at Huntingdon last Sunday.
I’m sure Sam appeals to a certain demographic. Just like ITV do.
No wonder ITV only showed one of the valuable races from Plumpton yesterday, Simon Holt would be a step too far for the show.
It was a fabulous days racing at Plumpton today, the large crowd were treated to a really good horse in Absurde and Simon Holt was quite right in saying it’s the best the course has seen. VPU won well before becoming a powerhouse. Looking forward to the £100K Champion Chase tomorrow, Plumpton really know how to finance a meeting, ARC could learn a thing or two.
Shame ITV look like only covering 1 race from Plumptons Premier Raceday next Monday, choosing to focus on mediocre fare on the AW at Kempton. If only Plumpton was a Jockey Club track. Can’t see them putting much effort into AW Finals day this Friday either.
Chapman is an ignorant pig. Likes the sound of his own voice too much and is given far too much oxygen on TV to spout off crap.
Shame ITV couldn’t be bothered to pitch up at Windsor properly for two really decent days racing.
Well it seems it’s back to Chepstow in 2025 on the Sunday which is an extra day and also a Premier Raceday
Not if you are legal.
What’s the actual problem?
Utterly clueless clowns running racing in this country. But, it’s shocking how ARC think Newcastle is a wonderful racetrack now the fabulous NH and flat course have been cut up and sacrificed for cheap AW course with only a straight floodlit course.
Two days of Premier racing at Musselburgh, close to £500k in prize money and ITV don’t have single person on course. I guess when you are not a Jockey Club track…
The Jockey Club thought that flogging Kempton was a good idea, why not ARC with Lingfield. Windors flat racing programme is mainly fodder, having lost most of its Listed races, the Monday nights are just an excuse to sell lots of booze to punters. Will have to see what sort of NH level Windsor are aiming for. Lingfield is just left with the Surrey National as a race that stands out for half decent prize money, but whats the odds it will end up as the Berkshire National at Windsor.
Don’t forget the winter derby has ended up at flood prone Southwell now.
July 7, 2014 at 21:36 in reply to: Big blow for Channel 4 Racing as Derby only pulls in 1.5m #484966Nick Luck is as dull as ditch water. Matt Chapman brings something to racing, perhaps he can help CH4 reinvent itself.
Wheeling out Clare for just the big meetings just undermines the whole CH4 set up. If she was that important she’d be the weekly anchor. Nick Luck is quite frankly just boring. The Emma and Cat show was fine (just see how ratings have plummeted) horse racing was broadcast as a sport for everyone. Emma eys candy yes, Cat a professional.
