I always record it RTB
and watch at 10.30 so I can can fast forward when MC comes on.
This week it was just the adds that got me hitting the fast forward option..Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...December 26, 2024 at 14:29 #1716387Chappers: This could be the biggest moment of your training career!
Jimmy Mangan: Well I suppose we did win the Grand National.
January 1, 2025 at 20:20 #1717319Fair play to them for putting their money where their mouth is and increasing the amount of televised racing to terrestial audiences year on year and bringing places like Hexham to the party as well.
January 18, 2025 at 20:14 #1718358Shame ITV couldn’t be bothered to pitch up at Windsor properly for two really decent days racing.
January 18, 2025 at 20:46 #1718359Chapman today, “Ruby you have never won the Clarence House”
Ruby, “I won it four times”.The more I know the less I understand.
January 18, 2025 at 21:14 #1718360Classic Chapman ignorance. Quick internet search could have avoided this embarrassing error.
January 19, 2025 at 20:46 #1718447Chapman is an ignorant pig. Likes the sound of his own voice too much and is given far too much oxygen on TV to spout off crap.
January 25, 2025 at 10:29 #1718809Loving the Peaky Blinders look on the Opening Show Harry & Ruby. 😃 very smart guys.
Glad they sent Chappers to Doncaster where I can utilise the mute button.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...January 25, 2025 at 14:23 #1718859Alice Plunkett is carefully refining the art of using a lot of words to say diddly-squat in her ‘paddock analysis’.
January 26, 2025 at 03:00 #1718927Hope ITV and other companies give two fingers to paying trainers for interviews . What these people on , do they want to attract an audience . They would go off if ITV just pulled plug on racing like BBC , talk of biting hand that feeds them.
January 26, 2025 at 04:24 #1718932“Loving the Peaky Blinders look”
Really, Jac? 🤷♂️
The Peaky Blinders-erisation of a day at the races, especially at the big meetings, is one of the main reasons why I rarely go racing these days.
For presenters on the most widely accessible racing programme to legitimise and validate that particular look makes me cringe.
January 26, 2025 at 09:23 #1718938And now to Alice Plunkett in the parade ring
Alice ” I like the jacket the girl parading no 2 is wearing , there’s a man behind me eating a hamburger , red not brown sauce , back to you Ed ”
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
January 26, 2025 at 15:46 #1718969Plunkers did indicate that Sauvignon seemed overwhelmed by everything in the parade ring. That in itself was a bit more of a contribution than the ex jockeys managed between them.
January 26, 2025 at 16:55 #1718975Jane mangan should be on itv. Much better analysis of the horses with her being very much involved in the sport. Too much coverage treating us like dummies. I think most reasonably knowledgeable punters can see if a horse is carrying a bit of tummy or is behaving out of character.
We can judge with our own eyes. Too much seems to be about opinion rather that what are eyes are seeing.
For instance anzadam still tanking along after the line today like city of troy which suggests he has loads more to offer. Just saying.January 26, 2025 at 18:35 #1718978I don’t know why ITV thinks it’s audience is ignorant about racing. The core audience is watching every week. Any first-timers have access to the internet or local library if they’re struggling with anything. Fair enough on, say, Grand National day when you can expect a lot of total novices tuning in. Other sports don’t do this. I have been watching rugby union for years and am still no nearer understanding many of the rules (I COULD find out but have never bothered as it doesn’t prevent me enjoying the match). What annoys me most about ITV coverage is that they over explain things that ought to be obvious to anyone with any knowledge of the sport but constantly use terms which nobody who hasn’t had some sort of experience of working with horses will understand, with no explanation whatsoever – “on the snaff”, “topline” etc etc.
January 26, 2025 at 19:17 #1718981ITV produce the show for the general viewer , Channel 4 was aimed for the racing enthusiast and punter , a prime example is ITV having segments mentioning the fashion on show etc , I miss the Channel 4 coverage , loved morning line to , esp Francome throwing in the odd zinger

I’d agree with that synopsis HDLG. They are concerned with growing the viewing audience and hence supporting advertising revenue and keeping the whole thing viable from an ITV perspective. There is a limited audience that’d switch on for something that was too analytical or ‘in the weeds’, even if it is content that diehard race fans would appreciate.
They (the presenters) are sort of stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea in that regard.
