For sure I’d have put the singles on separately and left Frankel out of the singles. At those odds (and for a pound lest we forget) you couldn’t have bought a bag of chips. Bonus or no bonus.
It’s been a fair wee while since I had a Lucky 15 though, longer still since I won sufficient money to buy chips from one.
Just curious, how does he get the plum posts when there are so many out there who are proving to be much better than him? Take Lee Makenzie and Darren Owen, hell, even Tommo!
I’d love to see Tommo commentating on the Arc. Even if to just show for fun.
I don’t get what people have against him to be honest.
Does it get more embarrassing? Yes indeed it does.
On ATR tonight, Barty calling them home & Jim McGrath live from the course.
Between them they might call the right horse at some point. I think the problem with Bartlett is that he doesn’t want to go ‘erm’ take a beat, have a look & then pick them up. He wants to be Mr Smooth.
How does the jumps tariff (re Taunton) compare to flat?
In fact while I’m on about independent courses, Leicester has seen a couple of boycotts too.
In the main, are JCR, Arena & Northern hitting tariff?
Ricard,
William Haggas is a Yorkshireman, not a Southern Toff.
His father, Brian, is a Yorkshire multi millionaire textile magnate, best known recently for his purchase of Harris Tweed (the clothing company, not the racehorse).

So he should be well aware why bleating about prize money will get short shrift in that particular part of the country.
With squinted eyes I can just about see the argument that racecourses are making plenty of money so they should put some more into prize money.
That’s if those courses are owned by The Jockey Club, Arena or Northern Racing who have revenue from many courses but I think Redcar is independent & I wonder just how much profit they actually make.
I don’t think it’s Lester’s criminal record that’s stopping him getting a knighthood, I think it’s the length of time he’s been retired. Can’t really give the man a knighthood for ‘services to racing’ when he’s not provided many services to racing for such a long period of time.
I thought he was Sir Henry Cecil already. Which indicates to me that he’s probably earned it!
Actually if you care to read it again, my post attacked what you posted and not you
In addition, the points raised by Cav merit discussion, particularly in the context of this thread.
How is calling a post ‘fawning crap’ not insulting the poster?
It is starting to look like it’s only the ‘big name’ trainers that are kicking up such a fuss about prize money & they only care about Class 4 & above.
The low end trainers keep turning up to low money races without so much as a peep.
At least that’s how it appears to me.
I think Mr Haggas has got a cheek to be honest. He should have a walk round the town of Redcar. The prize money might not be to his liking but at least he’ll have a job to go to in the morning.
If he thinks forums such as this one are bad, he should read some of the comments on the RP site. It’s like the reject bin of a Primark factory – lots of empty pockets.
Anyway, don’t mind me, I’m off to take a DNA test, I think Peter Thomas might be my Dad.
Interesting.
We thought one of the cars might have ground staff in it in case one of the runners kicked lumps out of a fence.
Having said that, there weren’t three cars for all the races, your trainer theory sounds probable.
It’s quite a carbon footprint that racing leaves, all things considered.
I’ve never been either, was watching it on the telly.
It looks like a nice course though.
On the other hand, if he’d said ‘well y’know, Treasure Beach is the each way steal of the year.’ I might not have got 40/1.
So that was nice of him.

Can’t say i have any ill feeling towards Corm….just a very negative opinion of bookmakers
Curley was happy enough to deal with bookmakers in the first place presumably because they have ‘loopholes’ which aren’t available on the Exchanges or through the Tote.
Anyway, bookmakers aren’t going anywhere any time soon so when they agree to answer some questions, the best thing to do is ask some.
Under Betfred, if you place a Tote bet in a shop, will it be settled in less than ten minutes because they aren’t usually?!
Fred should know all about bunches of losers, he’s just bought one of the biggest.
Obviously, Totesport will get rolled into the BF operation, what he needs to do is make Totepool’s an attractive betting proposition.
As I’ve said, there are alot of false tears being shed about this from people who rarely use the Tote, and they don’t use it because the whole operation is out of touch & the weakest available betting choice.
Fred knows how to make a few quid, maybe he’ll make the Tote an attractive proposition to punters. Probably won’t though!
I didn’t think the Derby coverage itself was all that bad. They’re presenting sport to a country that’s dazzled by Strictly Come Talent Factor after all.
And there’s still no denying that racing is better treated for coverage than many other sports, even football you take purely terrestrial channels. Live coverage every Saturday, two dedicated channels & (most importantly) you won’t find ‘Interesting’ Adrian Chiles on any of them!
For me, yes I agree that Group races should be made up of the very best horses.
But the only way to do that, in my opinion, is to have better horses fill up the entry. 17 grand for sixth place, were there seriously no trainers with horses rated 100+ (maybe even as far down as 90) who fancied a crack at Listed esque money?
As a little aside, Castlemorris King did beat a horse rated 26lbs higher by over 50 lengths!
(same point as the poster above almost, but I typed it so I’m not wasting it!
