British Racing is dying day by day.

Y’know what? Why don’t you just french connection off?

I’m sick of this constant negative miserable garbage.

Bollocks to this forum, I don’t know what racing most of you are watching but you all need to take off your **** tinted spectacles & actually try & enjoy yourselves.

    What a pile of crap.

I think the OP is right.

Photo finishes are instant & there is no excuse for it not being available instantly.

If the judge takes issue with being called bent, he should stop faffing about & produce the evidence that he isn’t.

There are too many pocket talkers & the press are so quick to call racing all sorts for ‘innocent until proven guilty’ to be a valid argument.

Produce the photo, put a stop to the chatter. Easy.

I didn’t have a washer on him, but no other Flat result this season will give me as much pleasure. On that I am emphatic.

    Amen to that.

I am not normally one of Ms. Turners greatest fans, and have been particularly critical about her riding of Margot Did. However that was a cracking ride today, and it was absolutely brilliant to see the old boy victorious.
I half expected them to retire him upon a victory, but apparently they have tried that previously and he doesn’t want to give up, so he continues racing. Bless him .

I’m pretty sure I saw a quote (I don’t remember where) when the trainer said last time they tried to retire him he ended up kicking lumps out of the stable.

Only he used less polite language.

    Yeeeeaaaaaahhhhhh!

Hayley Turner, you are my new favourite jockey.

I wonder if they’ll follow through with saying ‘one more win then retirement’ or whether they’ll keep him going.

No I don’t call finding a 50/1 winner a rich vein of form. It seems he’s picked a few good bets lately…..er that’s all really.

It’s easy for a horse to win at 2m off of a featherweight when he has been crying out for the distance and held back for the big day. A right touch if you ask me, fair play to Segal for spotting a horse that was being lined up for a big pay day at the expense of every punter who previously backed it over an inadequate distance.

He’s spent much of 2011 in France. I didn’t think such skullduggery happened over there because of their excellent prize money.

The sooner the likes of Rachael Hood and Mark Johnston can wrest control of the programme book from the behest of the big bookmakers, the better the sport will be.

    Agreed.

I really enjoy watching the low grade stuff, particularly under lights at Wolves & Kempton and I’m at the back of the queue when it comes to reducing their fixtures. But if they could choose their own start times without the bookies calling the shots we could have year round evening meetings & get rid of that ‘twilight’ garbage.

So, from the BHA Annual Report we know that the number of owners is down.

And from this we know that the foal crop is down meaning less horses in training.

Less horses = less races = less fixtures

You don’t need to swing an axe yourself when market forces will swing that axe for you.

Did Frankel win the other day or did I dream it?

It wasn’t a great ride, the horse nearly got beat but the prize money stays the same for ‘nearly’ doesn’t it?

I’d rather Cecil continue to give Queally instructions & keep winning than not doing & losing.

Maybe his willingness to ride to instructions is why Cecil uses him.

I didn’t consider Dettori to have been overly brutal on Rewilding but he did cross the line that’s for sure.

And I’m pretty sure you’ll be right about Hughes.

It looked worse than it was perhaps.

telwaars form line reads after the race , dwelt in rear headway over 3 out, ridden over 2 out kept on final furlong, thats what i saw also he had a tight hold of telwaar restraining him so he couldnt go on thats why he dwelt? what it doesnt say is callan switched him 4 x in and out of horses to shorten his stride and then saw daylight thats why he ran on at the end. he was never under any pressure like you say cormack, i suggest you go to specsavers and mix with a few hardened punters and then you will learn about bent racing, you have not seen the race as it hasnt been shown yet? it seems you come on this forum just to argue with genuine punters, i lost a lot of money through callans tactics not 10 pence ew bets like you probably put on. if i was you i would think before i said something stupid like your version of the race , i bet you never even saw it.

Haven’t you got homework to do?

And they’re going to pass a law in India in the next few days raising the legal drinking age. So clearly they have a problem too.

As for NASCAR, it’s piffle compared to the way they go at it in Australia.

Doesn’t happen in other countries eh?

I’ll bet they were saying that in Canada until the other day.

Of course it happens in other countries as much as it does here. The primary difference is they don’t put their drunken brawls on the front of every single one of their newspapers.

‘240,000 people attend Royal Ascot, 239,982 had a good time without incident’ doesn’t tend to sell many papers.

On the other hand, took attention away from all the whip shenanigans didn’t it?

I think it’s something of a double edged sword. There isn’t much racing merchandise for kids because there isn’t a big enough market for it but there isn’t a big enough of a market for it because as a sport it’s difficult for kids to become engaged in.

This sort of thread comes round from the time to time. The suggestion that bookies make all their money on ‘mug punters’ having multiples, reverse forecasts & the like.

Then there are other times when the suggestion is that bookies are no longer interested in racing & make lots of money from other sports.

And then there are those other other times where the suggestion is that bookies aren’t interested in racing or it’s punters, aren’t interested in other sports & make all their money from FOTBs.

Bookies are evil & should be avoided at all costs. Apparently.

Not that that’s such an issue of course, some people tell me there’s never anyone in them anyway.

Sold!!! Never, he’s been leased for three months, info on his fan club page on FB.

He’s got a Facebook fan page? Excellent.

I haven’t seen the run yet. Fingers crossed he gets his win soon.
