I didn’t have a washer on him, but no other Flat result this season will give me as much pleasure. On that I am emphatic.
Superb news, and didn’t the old man give every sign that he still loves every aspect of being a racehorse – from being the clear paddock pick through to responding to Hayley’s every urgings having been niggled at with still some distance to go.
Only the second 14yo to win a Flat race in the last two decades, I read, alongside the none more appropriately named Redoubtable.

July 1, 2011 at 12:18 #363077I think he needs to do a tour of every racecourse [a sort of lap of honour] so we can all see him. Nottingham, please.

Amen to that.
July 2, 2011 at 00:20 #363146Hard to believe a sprinter can still win a race at 14. Isn’t it about time he chanced his arm over timber?

http://www.brisnet.com/cgi-bin/fc_displ … 2081683932There’s a 13yo sprinter still running in stakes in New Mexico and earning his keep. Romeos Wilson is his name. He’s entered in the Sierra Blanca Handicap on July 4th. Love seeing old guys like that who clearly enjoy their job.
July 3, 2011 at 22:42 #363488Another 14yo, Eagle Time, placed 2nd in a claiming race at River Downs this afternoon. He won twice last year so I think he’ll get another win in soon.
