Good luck to Cobden. Not sure if i see it as a perfect fit, but he’s got some great horses to look forward to. Mullins rates him which will be a big help.
Ripple effect? Be telling if Nicholls went for Bowen. Would he want it? Is the ammo any better, than what he has now riding for likes off murphy, curtis, his dad etc.
Got to be another huge blow for Nicholls. Bring back bryony?
Riding Hendersons mcmanus horses? Not sure Nicky was ever keen on Coleman and no doubt de boinville was much better on jonbon.
Learning the irish tracks will surely be a huge challenge. He’ll need to be given time.
I like any sort of jockey josstling so its good crack for me!
I get as pissed off about other trainers not running there horses until Cheltenham as i do about Henderson. Nicky has and always will be my favorite trainer, which makes it all the more frustrating when he wraps them in cotton wool.
The means to an end allows trainers to feel justified, but the games gone if horses run just once and then its off to Cheltenham. I appreciate there are mitigating circumstances around Sir Gino. Henderson is the victim of his own success, his horses become bigger than the game almost and he has had a conveyor belt of superstars for nigh on 10 years now.
TBH after the xmas hurdle last year he said CH would be put away to Cheltenham and then ran the horse in the unibet, as he was in too good form not too. So its hardly set in stone that Sir Gino wont be seen again till March.
Wodhooh looks tailor made for this. Seems to be on and off the bridle in her races but always finishes strongly. 7lb allowance would make her interesting, sure the extra distance would suit.
Unless something happened to the favourite then it would seem unlikely Elliott would run her in this rather than the mares.
Give over. Course its dreadful if a horse is put away for cheltenham after one run. No reason whatsoever why he cant run again. Not even like hes going to the well in 3mile chases, hes cantering around in a 2mile hurdle.
We need good horses running.
Dreadful if sir gino doesnt run till CH. Seemed a throwaway comment and we can be a bit guilty of taking every nicky henderson soundbite literal. The Donnellys seem sporting, sure they’ll want him out again.
Strange CH. Sir Gino seems only horse with genuine top class 2m pace, but jumps them like a chaser. Could make it interesting although he’d be my idea of winner.
I dont think he needs the grade 1s, at least not loads. He’s got some grade 1 horses, so he’ll get some.
He’s mopping up grade 2s and valuable handicaps and targeting them with precision.
The whole jumps game just looks more competetive this year. Mullins will still win a hell of a lot of the top races, course he will but i dont think he’ll get enough.
I’m on grangeclare west. Been good to me at big prices. Question marks about lots of others. Got a feeling of a springboard type of race than legit grade 1.
Majborough jumped scruffily throughout and then in run in Mark Walsh managed to run into solness and marine nationales back end.
Wonder if they go back hurdling, chasing is not his game.
Good win for Solness. Marine nationale made a terrible early error but still had every chance.
Cant see willie even getting close. He’s 1.8 mil down now, horses still arent running great.
There seems to be more depth in the challenges home and abroad that he may not hose up the festivals as he has in previous years.
I thought Gaelic warrior didnt quite travel as well as you’d have hoped. Thought he got slightly outpaced and squeezed on a couple of occassions. Townend had gave him an absolute peach to hold that position just off the pace on the inner. You’d have to say, given the margins, Townends mistake losing his grip of the whip has probably cost him the race. Think he’s turning into a remarkable animal.
Backed O’connell. Would feel more confident if Sheehan was riding, its rare a horse wins this race not ridden prominently so it’ll take a good ride to do it.
Sounds like a very obvious complaint but i didnt lke the ride. Watching on you could see what was going to happen, would have liked to have seen Harry get going on him much sooner.
Pocket talking? Possibly, cost me the sir gino/Konfusion treble so was not pleased.
I have backed gaelic warrior. Didnt want to spend the next two days changing my mind.
Think everything looks tailor made for him. Sort of feel that his biggest threat might be himself.
That said fact to file is capable of a big performance.
Great race.
If Jango wins, fair play i’ll just be chuffed for Nicky and Nico.
Think lucky Place may now revert to Hurdles! Along with Jeriko and Joyeuse.
Another 2 horse race at Newbury – 11:53. Hendo bravely pitting his 152 rated lucky place against a horse rated just the 19Lbs inferior.
His first go over fences was a strange one. Was jumping great and looked to be flying and then just dropped like a stone from 3 out. Scoped dirty afterwards.
Fastorslow seems to be on the drift. Out to 40’s. Leopardstown beckons if Galopin doesn’t make it?
Getting the feeling Mullins is lukewarm on Fact to file taking its chance. Guess he has Gaelic Warrior as his number one and probably feels he can hit the bull with one dart, so can split them up. Shame.
Fastorslow at 25/1 is very tempting.
