This race has been blown wide open now. Teahupoo isn’t half the horse at Cheltenham that he is on home soil. Ballyburn was hugely disappointing here even when taking the yards poor form into account.
Ballyburn was my big fancy for this but I’m thinking Honesty Policy and Impose Toi are the two to beat now.
December 28, 2025 at 15:56 #1748927“Does he truly stay 3 miles?”
Certainly didn’t look like it today, Mike. He was legless from the last.

Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
December 28, 2025 at 16:11 #1748934He may be similar to Samcro in that regard HDLG.
I’m prepared to give him one more chance though. He was imperious at the Festival over 2m5f a couple of seasons ago.
December 30, 2025 at 08:17 #1749071Bob Olinger ran a perfect trial for Cheltenham at Leopardstown. Yes getting on a bit now but doesn’t have a million miles on the clock. He could be half a stone better at Cheltenham than anywhere else.
December 30, 2025 at 08:35 #1749072Wodhooh looks tailor made for this. Seems to be on and off the bridle in her races but always finishes strongly. 7lb allowance would make her interesting, sure the extra distance would suit.
Unless something happened to the favourite then it would seem unlikely Elliott would run her in this rather than the mares.
January 1, 2026 at 22:23 #1749338Agree AndrewBeamish. Can’t think of a mare to have won the race, although know Annie Power and Voler La Vedette came close. Surprising given the allowance and that mares have farmed the Champion Hurdle in recent years.
January 4, 2026 at 10:30 #1749534Honesty Policy going straight to Cheltenham, which surprises me a little. I thought they might want another run before the spring festivals but I guess he showed enough at Ascot that convinced them he doesn’t need it or doesn’t want Gowran mud on his hooves before Cheltenham !
January 4, 2026 at 10:54 #1749536The last two mares to win the Stayers’ Hurdle were Rose Ravine in 1985 and Shuil Ar Aghaidh in 1993.
January 4, 2026 at 15:18 #1749545If Kabral Du Mathan runs in this, then he’ll be my choice. There are shades of Thistlecrack about him.

Honesty Policy 9-2
February 15, 2026 at 13:16 #1754856March 11, 2026 at 17:48 #1758661With Elliott still nowhere near a winner the bookies are going to be getting the fav beat here ..

March 11, 2026 at 21:34 #1758741Staying loyal with my old pal Home By the Lee. Hope he runs into a place.
Home by the Lee 40/1 EW
March 12, 2026 at 12:21 #1758849I’m hoping Ballyburn can bounce back here.
Honesty Policy was my other big fancy but Elliot and Walsh don’t have me confident regards him now.
On both at 13/2.For me, Teahupoo is very similar to Brightdaysahead and Apples Jade in that he’s damn near unbeatable in Ireland but probably leaves around 7lb behind when he comes to Cheltenham.
He should be a 3 time World Hurdle winner already considering his huge talent. He’s my main lay of the Festival.
March 12, 2026 at 12:47 #1758868Ma Shantou 9-2.
The more I know the less I understand.
March 12, 2026 at 12:49 #1758870Honesty Policy 9.8
