No idea pru.  But I have been told that Eagle Mountain is an odd looking bugger.

Thought David Barker’s purchase of Polish Emperor was worth noting DJ.

Potentially well handicapped and now in the care of a sprint master.

Helvetio might as well be retired now that Micky Hammond has got him.

Quote: from rory on 1:19 pm on Oct. 20, 2006[br]Tony Stafford’s Little Black Racing Book is utterly dreadful.

Fewer words.  Same sentiment.  Less time wasted on book that was obviously going to be a turd.

Would recommend Horsetrader by Patrick & Nick Robinson about Robert Sangster.

The creation of Coolmore and the mega-stallions in Ireland was fascinating.

Would concur with the Druids Lodge recommendation too.

I also enjoyed Monty Roberts "Join Up" too.

I would add to this thread.  Except I spent ages in 2005 trying to argue North Light was actually a really good horse and Derby winner.

The time (and money) I spent doing this might have been better spent elsewhere in retrospect…

Haven’t got anything to add, but this thread would seem to be a really good idea.

We all spot odd bits of info of horses being out for a while, and other than laying a few pennies on betfair for injuries (bad money imo) it just helps us have a good idea of what is going on.

Thanks for the info so far chaps/chapesses.

Not that I backed him, but the horse showed improved form run by run over jumps and towards the end by turning the races into stamina tests.

A literal interpretation of his flat form did put him down as a lay, but his jumps form was progressive and he had had a change of stable.

I would not have layed him, but I certainly would have avoided him at 9/2.

If you lay summat on literal form alone you’ve got to expect them to win now and again.  Even more so if you lay them from ‘interesting’ stables (not suggesting that of Hobbs in the slightest btw).

This is a newspaper that chose to highlight the culmination of the apprentice jockey title race by putting the faces of Hayley Turner and Nelson De Souza into the shape of fireworks.

Looking stupid is not something that concerns them imo…

I think the postings on this thread are a perfect summary of the goings on – both good and bad – on most public internet forums.  People burying hatchets from previous feuds.  People using the thread for their own continuing vendettas.  People showing emotion at the overall passing away of a valued friend.  And mostly, people arguing over matters that really are very small beer in the overall scheme of things.

I’m on 4 Racing forums under various guises and this forum seems to stimulate more worthwhile threads and posters than any other (well, other than the one I part-run, and that’s more cliquey than anywhere else I know!).

Once again I wish LRM well whatever her decision.  The Racing Forum under Craig’s stewardship will always be fondly remembered by me, even if I did join it late.  I hope it continues going on in the same direction, but if it doesn’t then it will not affect my memories of it.

Good to see that this thread is not being diverted at all.

<br>I can’t help out on technology stuff at all, but would pay a contribution to help out anyone who was running the site.  I only ever really look at this section of the site too if it was to be reduced.

I’m sure LRM will make whatever decision she pleases and I wish her all the best for the future.

Can only add my condolences.  Dreadful news.  My thoughts are with Craig’s friends and family.
