Imperial, we shall see, but she wasn’t nearly as impressive at Leopardstown over Christmas, was she? I think it was a combination of factors. Go Native not being ready, hating the ground and perhaps just having an off-day, while VLV perhaps had an on-day!! You are correct that Paul just left Go Native come home in his own time, but that was under orders from Noel, not to be too hard on him, as theres much more important races to come, which I think has proven the case. Also, more importandly for me, Noel Meade has stated he wished he had never run him against VLV, and that NOW he has found the key to this horse. I just have not seen a better jumper of hurdles around, he jumps so quickly and travels very strongly. Yes, he’s quirky, but if delivered at the right time, he’ll pick up any horse in that field. I think its important not to get too carried away by one very good run from a mare. Remember Quevega at Cheltenham? Stunning win, went to Punchestown, where she was firmly put in her place by the boys. I just could not be having VLV as a genuine Champion Hurdle chance, I cant even see her being in the field when the day arrives.
Go Native has beaten both Solwhit and Binocular on merit. Zaynar should be running in the Stayers, as Ive said before. He just does not have the turn of foot required for 2 mile Championship races, and in the Stayers, he only has one horse to beat.
CheltenhamSpecialist,
Wasnt Nina on board at Fairyhouse that day? I love this horse, and I agree that Nina is one of the best Ive ever seen, but GC is an old rogue!! I have NEVER backed against him Cross Country, but I just think its too big a risk. This horse needs to be kept interested, and 30 of the same fences will not do that.
Gerald, i appreciate that there is a chance Garde Champetre will take to the Aintree fences, but theres an even bigger chance that he wont. Its just the Banks courses are so, so unique, I dont think that Garde Champetre will be fooled by Aintree!! After sailing over 3 or 4 fences, he’ll start to think, is this it??? He needs to be kept interested, and not even Aintree is interesting enough for the lunatic that is Garde Champetre!!!!
If Mikael, and Hurricane Fly both fail to make it to Cheltenham, it would be a dreadful blow for the sport itself. I am particularly concerned about the future of Mikael, as the lack of response to his treatment is alarming.
CheltenhamSpecialist, VLV beat Go Native when he was only 50% ready for the race. Let there be no doubt, Go Native will reverse the form, if they clash at Cheltenham, but that wont happen anyway. She’ll be in the Mares race.
I cant be having Garde Champetre for the obvious reason; Its not a banks-course. Look what he did in the Irish National, he just wasnt interested. War of Attrition, Big Fella Thanks and Comply or Die are who Im going with, for now!!!
Ante-post, surely you should back up your instincts and beliefs with actions? Thats what Im doing!!! I really believe that Tatatiano will NOT be in the 1st 3, so therefore, Im backing my belief!!!
I had my head shaved for charity!!! I then went on holidays to South America, stopped off in Madrid for 2 days, and came home with a scalded scalp!! Not advisable when heading off to 30 degree climates!January 16, 2010 at 19:36 in reply to: Martin McGuiness set to become First Minister of Northern I #270281Its only right that a Nationalist is to be the 1st Minister, as Nationalists and Catholics represent the majority in Northern Ireland now. As a Catholic from the Republic, I can safely say that general opinion regarding Martin McGuinness has changed dramatically in recent years. Contrary to what some people have written here, he has been very quick to condemn ANY violence or terror acts, carried out by any organisation in recent years. Yes, I had no time for him, Gerry Adams and the rest of Sinn Fein for a long time, but credit where it is due. They have moved with the times, and progressed dramatically in recent times, and the same cannot be said about the DUP. Unfortunately, the bigotry will always be a part of Northern Ireland politics, but hopefully Martin McGuinness can get the emphasis back on effective politics in the North, after the shameful and disgusting behaviour of Iris and Peter Robinson. I really do not believe there are any concerns regarding his colourful past, as it goes, thats exactly what it is, the past. Everyone deserves 2nd chances, if they really want to change, and I for one, firmly believe that McGuinness, and Sinn Fein are not the thug-dominated organisation they were 20 years ago. Once all the parties continue to work together, and not against each other, then the future of Northern Ireland will only continue to improve. I, for one, will drink to that.
Cormack, to attract even more people willing to hand over their hard-earned??!! If I genuinely believe that a horse will not win a race, I will offer whatever price I like. Why, do u want some???

Ante-post, yeah, that was taken in the Bernabau, but all above board, they actually let me in, even with that hair-cut!!! Seriously, I just cant be having Tatatiano, too many similarities with Tatenan.
I dont see the sense in Poquelin being shorter than Tranquil Sea for this, why should he be?? I think Tranquil Sea is my 3rd best bet at Cheltenham, after Dunguib and Denman. I think hes a cert.
Fist, let go of the Binocular thing!! You have to know when to desert a horse, and now is the time, believe me!!
Go Native will win, enough said!!!
Douginho, contrary to what u have been told by others, Zarrito IS being aimed at Cheltenham, and IS far and away the best value left in the Arkle. Go back about 3 or 4 weeks on this thread, and I put him up at 40’s as the outstanding e/w value. I have backed Sizing Europe, Zarrito, and Sommersby, all at better prices then they are now, and that will be enough for me. I would offer 20/1 about Tataniano if anyone is interested!!
Red Riot, Sentry Duty can go to the World Hurdle NOW, start NOW, and he still wont be good enough to win it. Dont waste ur hard-earned.
Karabak is a lovely honest horse, but if hes good enough to win a World Hurdle, Id be disappointed.
Big Bucks, are u ready for one of my ‘neck and bo**ox on the line promises’??!!! If Tataniano is good enough to win an Arkle, il go starkers round Punchestown in April!!! I know ul pull me up on that one!!!
Seriously, Paul Nicholls is damn good at talking up his horses. Problem is, they’re not all Kauto, Denman or Masterminded. If Tataniano was as good as he says, he’d of run him in a far better race already. When he fails in the Arkle, which he will (if he actually earns his place there) PN will put it down to a lack of experience. He’s the Master of Ditcheat and the Master of Bul**it. Thats why hes who he is. He gets paid to wax lyrical about everything he owns, especially a Stewart or Smith horse.
Guys, dont get me wrong, I think Sam has been brilliant with Denman, but Denmans best ever performance on ratings was in the Hennessey with Ruby up, wasnt it?? Im not saying Sam should be jocked-off, but I think McCoy would get on like a house on fire with The Tank! Timmy and Nina, whom I both love, would NOT suit Denman!?! What, Denman suddenly needs to be ridden quietly out the back???? Now that was funny!!!!
