No luck with Atty Persse in the Old Newton Chaos (obviously didn’t take well to being gelded) but moving swiftly on surprised to see that
HERCULEAN
is running in the 4.00 at Pontefract tomorrow. Class 5 so he doesn’t seem to be progressing.
However surely this is his for the asking. (Hope Roger Charlton hasn’t gelded him too)
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...July 9, 2018 at 16:19 #1359775Thought Atty Persse ran well and might have been a lot closer had he been able to be extracated earlier in the straight, wouldn’t be surprised to see some more improvement from him.
With regards to Herculean interesting to see they are going 10F with him but I would be worried about running him on the current quick ground as he didn’t appear to be enjoying it first time out at Newmarket and his Ascot win was on soft ground. Given his size I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that they have had some issues with him bearing in mind it was September of his 2 yr old year before he made his debut.
Think he could be an Autumn horse when we get some give in the ground and hopefully this softly softly approach may pay off down the line – could see him being an interesting prospect next season (much like a Stoute older horse assuming the Prince keeps him in training).
July 10, 2018 at 19:02 #1359842HERCULEAN won today, however i doubt he’s going to be as good as first hoped.

July 12, 2018 at 23:05 #1360022DOMBRA
Running in the 4.10 at Newmarket tomorrow around 8/1.
Just watched his last race beaten a short head by Forseti at Salisbury in a Class 4, he was battling out the finish like a good Frankel should and I was impressed by his attitude.I have him each way with Journey Of Life (Rev Forecast) to beat the O’Brien much fancied Mount Tabora and anyway I like taking on Coolmore, he’s much too short for what he’s done so far.
Both Frankel beaten today so hoping to be cheering Dombra on tomorrow…Jac

July 15, 2018 at 09:59 #1360392So pleased for Elwazir and Waldisafa yesterday Chaos.
Was hopeful for Eminent in the first stages of the Summer Mile but he soon tired and think his time has sadly come to take a bow.Thought of writing to Martyn Meade to say I have a nice field at the back of our house where he could he live out his days totally spoilt and pampered, but I think they may have other plans for him.

Thanks for the link Steve.
Will be watching with interest and hoping for a good show.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...July 15, 2018 at 22:51 #1360465The trainer was heartened by the Ascot effort of Eminent, beaten four lengths behind Beat The Bank after a far from clear run in the Group 2 Summer Mile on Saturday.
“I think he’s improved 10lb from Royal Ascot and has proved a mile isn’t his distance,” he said.
“He ran really well in the Derby but his win over a mile and a quarter at Deauville made us think that was his optimum distance, but he’ll go back over a mile and a half at Goodwood now.”
This is all wrong.

July 19, 2018 at 07:30 #1360607So disappointed by Eminent’s run on Saturday Chaos but today after a little break from a busy racing week, I’ve taken another look at the Summer Mile with fresh eyes …
Eminent was travelling really well at half way before meeting the bend where he had to go wide, he was then asked to go on by Colm O’Donoghue but at that point Suedois and Beat The Bank made him the meat in the sandwich, I think this surprised the horse as he looked left and right almost as if he were trying to get a bite at them and lost ground and all chance of winning.
The other factor looking back at his race record is that he doesn’t seem to like Ascot, he is much better suited to a more galloping track so Goodwood is going to suit him. He seems to be entered up in the Celebration Mile so can’t understand where the mile and a half is coming from as he also holds entries in the Juddmonte International at York and the Qipco Irish Champion Stakes, both under 1m3f.
Both Goodwood and Leopardstown will suit his style of running although he is always going to be vulnerable to fast finishers as he needs to be held up behind the pace to make his run. With this in mind happy to give him another chance to end the season in the winners enclosure.
Signed …. the eternal optimist
Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...July 21, 2018 at 00:27 #1360719I feel for you Jac, just don’t understand M. Johnston at all, he said his optimum distance was a mile and quarter, so why say he will he’ll go back to a mile and half. Am i missing something here?

July 27, 2018 at 15:02 #1361167That’s good news Chaos.
DOMBRA running again at Newmarket tonight. He might do better in a handicap than last time when he ran against some top class 2yo’s from the O’Brien and Appleby camp..took 10/1 this morning and hope he can open his account tonight at his dad’s favourite track.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...July 27, 2018 at 15:43 #1361169Al Shaqab say they’re looking at Group races for Rabdan now, which isn’t surprising given the way he won yesterday
July 28, 2018 at 15:38 #1361366A bit quiet on here about Rostropovich’s chances….
I wouldn’t cry if the Canford Cliffs horse won mind youGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
