Cracksman has only stamina
?
I really can’t read this anymore.
He has absolutely everything, as he is simply ( for me by far) the best horse of this planet!April 29, 2018 at 22:54 #1352594No idea who said that, they obviously no nothing about horse racing

May 3, 2018 at 16:07 #1352857Master Of Reality won a 12f maiden at Saint Cloud on Tuesday, after having seemed to have learned a lot from his first race at Lyon. He is out of L’Ancresse, runner-up in both the Irish Oaks and Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf. Although he has entries in The Prix du Jockey Club and Grand Prix de Paris, he looks as though he still has a fair bit of developing to do to justify those lofty hopes. But his breeding and style suggest that he will do a lot of developing this year.
May 3, 2018 at 18:45 #1352861I saw the race MV and he was headed and just got back up. Didn’t look the hottest race and he needed every metre of the 2,400 metres. Looks a decent staying type in the making but no way is he Classic material I think.
On this point and having watched Rabdan and Aljazeera race at Longchamp today, I can’t help thinking that the Frankel’s are not very suited to French racing where they tend to go slow and sprint. If you watch those races today both Frankel’s were outpaced and were staying on at the line. Aljazeera benefitted from long galloping straights last year where she was really able to stretch and gallop for several furlongs. I think they have made a mistake taking her away from poor old Luca. Rabdan led from the off today but didn’t really start to stretch until the top of the straight and was done for toe. You see even with Cracksman that Frankie lets him go very early knowing that he will gallop full tilt for at least 3 furlongs. It’s no good holding on to these middle-distance Frankel’s – they are not quick enough. I reckon if Frankie had been on board Rabdan today he would have won. Aljazeera probably wouldn’t have won but would have been a lot closer.
So the French jockeys need to wise up. Set good, honest fractions and set sail for home early. If only I was younger, slimmer, shorter, fitter, stronger, more talented and spoke fluent French…….

May 4, 2018 at 12:13 #1352892For me a lot of the French jockeys don’t seem to know/grasp how to actually front run at a decent pace – even when they do go to the front their mindset is to go just quick enough so their horse is settled and then sprint from the home turn.
That kind of tactic is never going to suit the more stoutly bred middle distance horses especially the Frankel’s as they are know for galloping right through the line even off a strong gallop.
I think in general the art of strong front running is a lost art – these days you see many jockeys set an average pace then slow it down and stack all the horses in behind and then kick for home, it is very rare to see a jockey go off and set a strong pace and still be able to maintain it to the line…a la Cauthen or Piggott.
Would have loved to have see Cauthen in full flow front running on some of these big long striding Frankel offspring.

Good luck ELARQAM in the 2000 Guineas tomorrow.
You have no idea how highly bred you are and that you have the ability within to win this prestigious race.

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 5, 2018 at 07:17 #1353011Have a lovely time at Newmarket today Jac. I’ll be working but hope to sneak off and watch the Guineas. Good luck Elarqam! (And Count Octave who I think might progress well this year, and Mori)

JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 6, 2018 at 07:45 #1353196I think this thread should be closed down now. Clearly after yesterday Frankel will not rule the world. ;o)

May 7, 2018 at 19:37 #1353402Another weekend and another group winner for Frankel as Lightening Quick does the business in the Group 3 at Naas. Meanwhile over at Windsor, Silver Quartz broke his maiden in impressive style. HAs big entries and will be interesting to see where they send him next.

May 9, 2018 at 01:06 #1353493Find it a bit odd that Meade is starting Eminent’s season at Chester – if there was one course that you would say wouldn’t suit a big long striding horse Chester would be it.

May 10, 2018 at 14:51 #1353562Seemed to be the further he went the better he went as he continued putting distance between him and the rest all the way to the line.
Ryan said they had been waiting to get him on some better ground and he appreciated the step up in trip as well, wouldn’t surprise me if he had more improvement in him at 12F.
May 11, 2018 at 08:15 #1353595What a great win by Rostropovich yesterday, he just romped home. Well done Joni for getting on at that great price (wish I’d seen it).
Noble Mission off the ball with his first runner in France On A Session look forward to more to come.So looking forward to seeing Eminent
run today but like LD wish it hadn’t have been at Chester that’s the only reason I haven’t bet on him today at 8/13 even though he surely must win.Not giving up on Frankuus yet although bit of a worry that he was beaten out of sight by Forest Ranger LTO, maybe he needed the run. He is turning into a bit of a Haydock specialist but he certainly goes better left handed and with Mark Johnston’s horses finally finding their form and him being 2nd top trainers behind AOB at Chester, Frankuus could fill the place position so I suppose a Frankel forecast wouldn’t go amiss.
